Chapter Text

Seungcheol knew something was off the moment he stepped into the house. The air was thick with tension, and the usual playful chaos of his two hybrid pets was nowhere to be found.

Minghao, his small, sleek black cat hybrid, was pressed against the farthest wall of the living room, fur bristling, ears flattened against his head. His golden eyes were wide with panic, his tail fluffed up to twice its usual size. And right in front of him stood Mingyu, his massive husky hybrid, panting heavily, eyes wild and glazed over with something primal.

“Oh, hell no,” Seungcheol muttered, realization slamming into him like a freight train. Rut.

Mingyu had entered his rut phase, and from the way his sharp canines were already buried deep into the side of Minghao’s neck, there was no stopping it now.

“M-Mingyu, let me go!” Minghao hissed, struggling in vain against the sheer weight and size of the husky pinning him down. His claws scratched helplessly at the carpet, but Mingyu’s grip was unrelenting. The bigger hybrid growled, low and threatening, sending vibrations through Minghao’s tiny frame.

“Mine,” Mingyu rumbled, his voice almost unrecognizable, thick with possessiveness and need. He tightened his jaws just enough to make Minghao cry out, his body trembling. “Smell too good… Can’t stop.”

“Mingyu! You’re hurting me, you dumb mutt!” Minghao yowled, his tail whipping around desperately, only for Mingyu to wrap an arm around his waist, pulling him flush against his burning-hot body.

Seungcheol cursed under his breath, bolting toward them. “Mingyu, back off! Right now!” He grabbed the husky hybrid by the scruff, trying to pull him away, but Mingyu only growled louder, his ears flattening as he curled even more protectively around Minghao.

Minghao sobbed, the pain in his neck sending sharp stabs through his body. His whole being felt like it was on fire, his senses overwhelmed by Mingyu’s scent smothering him. “S-Seungcheol! Do something!”

“I’m trying!” Seungcheol gritted his teeth. “Mingyu, let go before I—”

A sudden snarl cut through the air, and Seungcheol barely had time to react before Mingyu lunged, eyes flashing with pure instinct. He barely missed a swipe from Mingyu’s claws, stumbling back with a shout.

“Are you serious right now?!” Seungcheol snapped, hands raised in frustration. “Mingyu, you better snap out of it before I throw you in an ice bath!”

But Mingyu wasn’t listening. His entire focus was on the trembling black cat in his arms, licking at the bite mark he had left, his tongue slow and deliberate. “Mine,” he repeated, his voice softer now, almost coaxing. His tail wagged slightly, as if pleased by the scent of his own mark now mingling with Minghao’s.

Minghao shuddered, both from the pain and the intense heat rolling off the husky hybrid. “I swear to god, Mingyu,” he hissed through gritted teeth, “when this is over, I’m going to claw your stupid face off.”

Mingyu only hummed in response, nuzzling into the crook of Minghao’s neck, completely ignoring the way Seungcheol was fuming.

Seungcheol dragged a hand down his face. This was going to be a long, long night.

The next morning, Seungcheol woke up to an overwhelming scent of rut and heat still lingering in the air. The entire house smelled like a war zone of pheromones. With a heavy sigh, he trudged into the living room, fully expecting to find a disaster—and he was right.

Mingyu was curled around Minghao, still possessively holding the smaller hybrid close. Minghao was clearly exhausted, his fur ruffled, bite marks adorning his delicate skin. His ears twitched as he let out a grumpy groan, attempting to shift away, but Mingyu instinctively pulled him closer, even in his sleep.

“I’m too old for this shit,” Seungcheol muttered under his breath before grabbing his phone. He needed professional help.

A few weeks later, the chaos escalated when Seungcheol took them both to the vet. The moment the words left the doctor’s mouth, he nearly dropped his phone in shock.

“Minghao is pregnant.”

Seungcheol’s mouth opened, then closed, then opened again. “I’m sorry, he’s what?”

Minghao, sitting on the examination table, looked equally horrified. “EXCUSE ME?!”

Mingyu, however, wagged his tail excitedly, puffing out his chest with pride. “Knew it! My instincts were right!”

Minghao turned to him, his eyes burning with the promise of murder. “You. Are. Dead.”

The husky hybrid yelped as Minghao lunged at him, claws out, forcing Seungcheol and the vet to intervene before more injuries could occur.

That night, Seungcheol collapsed onto his couch and dialed his boyfriend, Jeonghan.

“Babe, you will not believe the kind of hell I just went through.”
