Notes:

Wowza! A multi chapter fic from me? Ain’t that something?

This is based off of a series of (semi unfinished) comics by crabbng. I’ll link it at the end of this part.

Chapter Text

It’d taken a few minutes, but thanks to Rikado, (damn that muscular strength of his) Bakugo was successfully hauled back into his hospital bed. By that point, he was too exhausted to fight and just accepted he’d have to stay in there until he was more recovered.

Now that he was alone, Bakugo had two main thoughts in his head. The fear of Deku dying before things could be fixed between them and that the one person he expected to greet him when he awoke hadn’t been at his bedside.

Eijiro.

He wasn’t there.

Dynamight was all alone. Like it’d always been for him.

God please don’t let Eijiro be dead too.

Minutes passed before the boy who had been on Bakugo’s mind arrived at last. Eijiro suddenly burst into the room just as Bakugo was about to drift off. It looked like he had run all the way from wherever he’d been. The moment his friend’s eyes landed on him, they teared up.

“Kats…” Was all Eijiro managed to say before he ran over to Bakugo and held onto him tight, crying quietly. “You’re okay. I’m so relieved.” he said with a sniff. But Bakugo stayed silent. On one hand, he was happy Eijiro showed up at all, but there was another side of him that was mad he hadn’t been with him in the first place.

“You weren’t here.” Bakugo spoke in a quiet voice. Eijiro pulled away from the hug and looked him in the eyes. “What?” Bakugo glared at him. “You weren’t here when I woke up. Why?” Kirishima looked surprised for a second before seeming to understand. “Oh. I was with some of the others visiting Todoroki.” Bakugo’s face dropped more than before. “Todoroki?” he questioned in confusion. “Yeah. I’m assuming you know what happened with his…brother. A couple of us who were feeling well enough thought he needed some comforting after everything.”

Bakugo had no words. Eijiro had decided to go to Half and Half first instead of him.

So that’s how it was.

He chuckled, though there was no humor behind it. “Todoroki, huh? So while I was met by the other idiots, you were hanging out with Half and Half. I get it.” Eijiro looked worried. “Kats, c’mon. I was going to come, but..” “But what Ei?!” Bakugo yelled. “Did you finally pick someone else to be your new bestie or some shit?” Eijiro was horrified. “What?! No! It was just…”

“Just what?!”

“I was scared! So scared, Kats!” Eijiro’s voice broke. He was crying again, but not from relief anymore. “We went to meet up with you guys after dealing with Gigantomachia, but then I saw your body just lying there and…oh God, Kats…I seriously thought you were dead. Even after I checked and saw you were breathing, I was still so worried you might not make it. Mina and Tets had to pull me off of you when the paramedics showed up. They said you were so badly injured, even they were worried you might not make it and at best, it’d be touch and go. I was so freaking scared that if I came to your room, I would find out you died. If that’d happened, I wouldn’t be able to handle it.”

Bakugo just stared for a minute, then slowly nodded. “Oh, okay. From what it sounds like, you’d rather me wake up BY MYSELF so you’d be a little bit happier. So much for all that talk about how you’d always be by my side whenever I needed you.”

“I am! I’m here right now.” Bakugo scoffed.

“Kats…”

“No don’t bother. You’ve said enough.” he said dismissively. ”Go be with Todoroki since you’re all such great fucking friends now.”

“Katsuki…” he begged. Bakugo stood up abruptly and shoved Eijiro away as he tried to take his hand. “Shut up! I don’t need a fake ass in my life who’s only around me when it’s comfortable for him! If I didn’t know any better, I’d say you’re not acting very manly right now!” Eijiro walked a bit closer to Bakugo. “No, that’s not it at all Kats. Please just listen.” Bakugo just glared at him. “Get out.” he growled.

“What?”

“Get. The hell out. Now.”

Eijiro stood there with a face now held with so much hurt. After a minute, he sighed. “We can talk about this later. Just focus on getting better, okay?”

“Fuck you.” Bakugo replied.

Eijiro sadly walked out of the room. He glanced back as Bakugo laid back down in the bed before exiting.

Bakugo pulled the blanket over his body. He then turned to his side as he began to cry.

There was really no going back from that, was there? He just lost the most important person in his entire life because of his own actions. History had repeated itself once again.

You fucking idiot. He thought as he cried to sleep.

Notes:

Oh yeah they’ve started calling each other by their first names at this point, but only when it’s just them.

I should maybe explain why Bakugo is acting like this.
So a headcanon I’ve got for Bakugo is that one of his biggest fears is the people he loves-especially Kirishima-will “come to their senses” and abandon him the second they get the chance once they realize he’s a monster who doesn’t deserve happiness because of how he’s treated everyone in his life. So Kiri not being with him when he woke up and then telling him he was with Shoto just confirms in Bakugo’s mind that the redhead doesn’t see him as a friend anymore and has moved on to somebody else who will treat him better.

I’m already working on the other part and it should be out in a few days.
