Will this day get any worse? I slept through my alarm, had a sudden workload to do, and the cherry on top would be a sudden change in schedule. Can't they even give us a day or two to prepare us. Boom looked at the clock on the wall and noticed that it's almost lunch time. Maybe a meal would help me, Boom thought. Now here comes another dilemma: what meal would he eat? It's one of the hardest questions to answer. While walking around he spotted the café that he usually goes to whenever he needed a drink to go.
“Oh? New flavor?” He exclaimed when he saw the signage in front of the cashier. The café is just a small one and the chairs are very limited. However you can feel the coziness. Boom was very intrigued about the new flavor and decided to try it out before buying his meals. The café only sells drinks and doesn't have any pastries available which is a bummer. Usually during this hour the café is not crowded so Boom was surprised that it's taking longer than expected. He thought that maybe the customer just had a lot of order but to his surprise he only ordered two drinks.
I wonder what's taking so long to make two drinks for a person? He once again asked his thoughts. Usually a drink would be finished in 5 minutes. The menu is very limited so by now they should know the process right? Boom’s patience was not getting tested and the hunger that he is feeling is not helping him at all. However he decided to stay because he's already near the counter.
That's when he noticed the new face behind the counter. Once the barista was done taking the order of the customer that's in front of Boom. The two of them locked eyes together and the barista immediately apologized and asked Boom to wait a little bit more. Boom immediately just nodded his head and decided to play with his phone but he couldn't help but overcome the conversation that the barista and his co-worker had.
“Pepper, how do I do this one? I haven't made one like this before”
“Just put either the water or the coffee powder it doesn't really matter”
“So there's no particular order?”
“Yes! it doesn't really matter”
“Pepper!”
“What? How do I do this?”
Oh? So he really is indeed a new hire. Boom noticed that the barista was carrying a small notebook with him and he noticed that it contained the ingredients and procedure on how to make the drinks. How cute Boom thought, Boom also noticed that his co-worker was busy using his phone rather than helping the restless intern. He noticed that his nervousness grew when he saw the crowd of people in line. Once he was finished with the drink he put them in the cup and handed it to the customer “Enjoy your drink!” The barista said with a smile. Now finally it was Boom’s turn to order.
“Hello! Good morning, what would you like to have today?” The barista asked with a smile.
“Is this flavor available?” Boom asked while pointing at the sign In Front of the cashier.
“Yes it is, would you like to have that one?”
“Yes please, Thank you!”
“Alright! that would be 30 baht Please wait a moment” Boom nodded his head and watched how the barista made his drink. He can't help but chuckle a little while looking at him because of how he would look at the guide in his hands from time to time and ask help from his co-worker.
You can really say that the barista is an intern because of how careful he is when it comes to preparing the drink, making sure that it's right and the amount if accurate. Boom can't help but become fascinated. Despite feeling hungry he decided to be understanding because once in a while we get to experience becoming an intern and experience a kind of nervousness and hoping we won't mess things up. Boom managed to catch a glance at his nameplate “Aou”. What a cute name Boom thought. When he was done he once again apologized for the wait and took Boom's money.
“Here's your order! Have a great day sir! Once again I'm sorry for the wait” The barista, who is now known as Aou, gave him a bright smile.
“It's okay! Thank you!” Boom replied, reflecting the smile that was given to him. “I guess there's always something good in everyday” Boom thought walking away while still secretly glancing at the newly hired barista “I think this place would be my new favorite café” he muttered to himself.
