Henry lights up at that, which can only mean he signed it right. He keeps going with what he is trying to say.
“I think you are a good...” There, he gets stuck. He is trying to say storyteller, but the word misses him completely and he doesn’t remember what he is supposed to do. So he does the worst thing he could do in this situation, which is improvise.
“I think you are a good…” He repeats, then makes the tip of his fingers touch twice, hoping Henry understands. “…storyteller.”
By the face Henry makes, that’s not what he said at all. He seems surprised, then chuckles a bit, a rosy glow tinting his cheeks.
He repeats the sign Alex just made, tilts his head and kisses his own hand… and Alex goes red when he understands.
“That means ‘I think you are a good kisser.’”
God, that’s definitely not what Alex was trying to say.
Or: Professional yapper Alex meets deaf Henry. Alex decides to learn a lot of sign language.
