Flour, sugar, butter, chocolate chips, vanilla extract, love, and of course: eggs, is all you need for chocolate chip muffins!
Oh and how could I forget the food colouring? To be more precise, blue food colouring.
‘’Percy, are you sure we need this much food colouring?’’ Annabeth asked whilst mixing the mixture together.
‘’Like I have said like a million times by now, Beth: yes, we really do this this much! I mean.. How else are we supposed to make them blue instead of an awful green?’’ Percy replied back trying to taste some of the mixture before being swatted away by Annabeth.
‘’I don’t know, I still think we should ask Mrs. Jackson.’’
‘’Oh come on! Don’t you trust me?’’ Percy grinned. ‘’And, unrelated but, you do know you don’t need to call her ‘Mrs. Jackson’, right? You can just call her Sally or, hell, even mom if you want. She’s said she’s alright with it herself; she even introduces you as her daughter sometimes!’’ Percy’s grin softens.
‘’yeah , yeah I know, it just… nevermind.’’ Annabeth says quickly turning back to mixing the contents in the bowl with the wooden spoon faster then before.
‘’...nevermind what?’’
‘’It’s not important, Percy,’’ Annabeth quickly snaps before regaining her composure, ‘’...sorry. I didn’t mean to.’’
‘’It’s fine. We don’t have to talk about if you don’t want to,’’ Percy hops down from the counter and claps once, ‘’Alrighty, so! What do you think, Wise Girl? Time to add the food colouring or no?’’ Percy places his hands on his hips with that same old grin Annabeth has grown far too fond of.
‘’Yeah. I think I’ve done enough mixing for today. And remember, we set the timer for eighteen to twenty minutes!’’
‘’Yeah, yeah I know, Beth, I’ve basically memorized the recipe at this point!’’
‘’I know; just checking!’’
Percy adds the food colouring, much more than needed in fact.
‘’Percy, that is going to look awful once done; you’ve added too much!’’
‘’Shhh, I’ts going to turn out fine. Just trust me!’’
While the blue chocolate chip muffins bake in the oven for eighteen to twenty minutes Percy and Annabeth argue over what they should watch.
‘’I’m telling you! The Blue Planet: A Natural History Of The Oceans!’’
‘’We’ve watched that 23 times already! Now, percy, I love you and all but that is *way* too many times to-’’
‘’It’s the autism, Beth!!’’
‘’...Maybe so… Anyway, Criminal minds!’’
Percy groans, ‘’But we;ve watched that about one hundred times too!’’
‘’It’s the autism, Perseus!’’
‘’...can’t argue with that.’’
They ended up watching both all night long, eating blue chocolate chip muffins.
