Work Text:
Someone touches Nani’s elbow. He turns to find Tay and New, who have just finished their interview.
“You did a great cat impression when the host asked you,” says Tay. “I knew you had it in you.”
Nani blushes and smiles at his colleague.
“That’s a weird way to compliment him,” observes Sky.
“Oh no, I love cats,” says Nani. “Thank you, P’Tay.”
“It would be cool to play a cat in a show. Some shape-shifter or something like that,” interjects New. “Challenging but cool.”
Sky pats Nani’s shoulder. “I think Nani could easily pull it off.”
Tay smiles mischievously. “I have a challenge for him, then.”
Both Sky and Nani raise their eyebrows. New starts snickering behind Tay’s back, for no apparent reason.
“I dare you to pretend to be a cat for the rest of the day,” continues Tay.
Nani pouts. “What do you mean?”
Tay scratches his chin. “Let’s do it like this: behave like a cat for the rest of the day and I’ll pay you ten thousand baht.”
“Would you follow me for the rest of the day?”
New elbows Tay. “I think Sky could be the judge. He’s driving him home anyway, so he can stay with him this evening and report to us.”
“But no cheating,” warns Tay.
Nani appears pensive.
“You don’t have to do it,” whispers Sky in his ear.
“I accept the challenge, P’Tay,” declares Nani as Sky curses under his breath. “What happens if I fail?”
“You’re not even asking him the rules?” says Sky. “Or what you’re supposed to do?”
Nani shushes him.
“If you fail – and Sky here would surely tell us if you do – you’ll have to pretend to be a cat in a TikTok live in front of all your fans.”
“Wait, Uncle Tay, define ‘behave like a cat’,” asks Sky.
Tay puts an arm around Sky’s shoulders. “So, khun Sky, first of all, no talking, only meowing. Second…well, just do what a cat would do. Like he did on the program, only…for longer.”
“Would it be fun for you if you won’t witness it?”
“Oh, it would be fun for you,” says Tay. “But I want you to send me videos.”
“You’re sick, Tay Tawan.”
“Oh, he is,” confirms New. “He could have come up with something worse, so consider yourself lucky.”
“So, I should like meow, pretend to scratch my ears or lick my paws and be cute, right?” asks Nani.
“You could also hiss and scratch Sky,” suggests Tay. “Some cats are assholes.”
“Why would he scratch me?” protests Sky.
Nani puckers his lips. “I don’t want to be a mean cat.”
Sky looks at him and shakes his head, smiling fondly.
“When do I start?” asks Nani eagerly.
“Let’s say, as soon as you enter Sky’s car.”
“Why do I have the feeling that you came up with this plan just to annoy me?” complains Sky.
Tay ignores him.
“And when do I finish?” continues Nani.
Tay checks his watch. “I would say at midnight…Then when the clock strikes twelve, like Cinderella, you can turn back into a –“
“Girl,” finishes Nani.
“I was going to say ‘human’, but whatever floats your boat, bro.”
Sky slaps him on the back of his head.
“What’s going on here?” asks someone behind them. They all turn to find Sky and Nani’s manager.
“Absolutely nothing, we were just chit-chatting,” says Tay.
“It’s never just chit-chatting with you.”
“I swear I’m not creating any drama.”
The manager looks at Sky and Nani, who avoid her eyes. She sighs. “You can go and get changed, we’re leaving soon.”
As soon as she gives her back to them, Tay throws his arms over both Sky and Nani’s shoulders. “Good luck, guys. And remember, no cheating and send me pictures.”
Sky squeezes Tay’s wrist. “Do you honestly think I would throw my best friend under the bus?”
“Come on, Sky, stop being such a simp and play fair for once.”
Sky blushes and casts a glance at Nani who is on Tay’s other side, talking to New. “I don’t know if I can do that.”
Tay bursts out laughing and pats his back. “I guess that by tonight you’ll know your limits when it comes to your partner.” He winks. “Thank me later.”
***
When they enter the car and Nani shuts the door, Sky turns to him expectantly.
“Will you put your seatbelt on?”
Nani tilts his head and stares at him. Sky figures that he has got into his character already. It’s going to be a long evening.
“Do you understand human language?”
Nani’s mouth twists. It’s obvious he is putting a great effort into not talking.
Sky sighs. “Fine.” He leans out to grab his friend’s seatbelt. Nani’s breath tickles his ear. Sky clears his throat and hurries to buckle him up. “Here.”
Nani smiles and Sky has to bite his tongue not to tell him that cats don’t smile.
They drive in silence and at some point, Nani dozes off. Sky looks over at him: his face is pressed against the window, his hand squeezed between his head and the glass, and he is breathing softly. He truly looks like a cat resting his head on his little paw, albeit unintentionally.
When Sky parks his car in Nani’s underground parking lot and turns the engines off, the other boy wakes up with a start.
“Welcome back, sleeping beauty.”
Nani opens his mouth to speak but catches himself just in time.
“You must be hating Tay Tawan very much, right now.”
Nani looks at him unblinkingly. So far, he is nailing this cat impersonation.
“I know I do,” continues Sky as he turns to unfasten his friend’s seatbelt. Before he knows it, he feels Nani’s nose inside his ear. He jumps. “Did you just stick your nose into my ear?”
Nani butts his head against Sky’s temple and starts rubbing it.
“I guess this is a cat’s way to say ‘thank you’, nothing weird about it,” mutters Sky as he straightens up to unfasten his own seatbelt. If Nani keeps doing these things, he won’t survive the night.
He is lucky to know Nani’s door code because Nani is refusing to do anything even remotely human. Sky fears that he will start walking on his four to play his character better.
When they enter Nani’s apartment, Sky’s stomach starts to grumble. He figures that he will have to cook since cats don’t cook.
“You don’t happen to have cats’ food, do you?” he jokes.
Nani sits on his knees on the armrest of his sofa, keeping his back straight and his chin up.
“Well, I’m afraid you won’t eat then,” tells him Sky.
Nani growls.
“Woah, ”cries Sky. “Ok, fine. Do you cats like noodles? This human here is tired so he was thinking of having some cup noodles.”
Nani perks up and meows.
“I guess that’s a yes.”
Sky rummages through Nani’s kitchen cupboards until he finds what he is looking for. He then turns the kettle on and turns towards his friend with his arms crossed in front of his chest.
Nani is pretending to lick his paws to clean his hair. Well, his fur. Well, whatever.
Sky sighs and opens the noodles cups. When he spots a bag of dried seaweed, he comes up with an idea. He opens the bag, pulls out a sheet and starts making clicking sounds with his tongue to call his…cat over.
“Come here, Hirunkitty.”
Nani looks at him with eyes like saucers. Sky tries very hard not to crack up. He reprises his kissing sounds. “Come get your treat, Hirunkitty.”
Nani puts his socks-covered feet on the floor graciously and starts walking slowly, one foot in front of the other, towards his friend.
Eventually, he plants his butt on the edge of the table and looks at Sky expectantly.
“Don’t sit on the table, you filthy animal,” says Sky.
Nani almost breaks character, his face contorting to avoid bursting into laughter. He places his feet on the floor and approaches Sky.
There is something definitely feline in his eyes, predatory.
Sky swallows. “Good boy,” he murmurs. Nani’s eyes glint as he leans over and accepts the sheet of seaweed from Sky’s fingers.
He struggles to fit the quite long sheet into his mouth without using his hands, so Sky has to literally push it inside.
“What the hell am I doing?” he grumbles as he wipes his fingers on his trousers.
Nani starts making a weird sound with his mouth.
“What now?” asks Sky. “What are you doing? Purring? Chirping? What’s that supposed to be?”
Nani covers his mouth with both of his hands.
“Cats don’t laugh,” informs him Sky as he forces Nani’s hands away from his face. He then notices a few pieces of seaweed stuck to his lips and wipes them off with his thumb. “Such a messy kitten.”
Nani keeps still as he looks at him owly-eyed.
The kettle makes a noise to inform them that the water is ready to use.
“Sit at the table,” orders Sky. “Not on the table.”
Nani takes his seat and watches Sky pour hot water into the cups and cover them with their plastic lids.
“Here.” Sky puts one of the cup in front of Nani, who just stares at the food in front of him before looking at Sky with pleading eyes. He meows again.
“Seriously?” Sky sighs and stirs the noodles inside the cup. He then whips out a forkful and blows on it. Nani hides a smile behind his arm. “Come on, open up.”
Sky feeds him as Nani hums contentedly. “This is no cat behaviour, you look like a toddler.”
As a response, Nani scratches him. Or at least, he tries to. His nails are too blunt to leave marks.
Sky drops the fork and glares at him. “You can drop the act for a minute and feed yourself, can you?”
The boy in front of him gives him the puppy eyes. Wrong animal, thinks Sky but he doesn’t comment on it, he just sits and finally starts consuming his dinner. Nani gives in and proceeds to eat his food with the fork like a human being.
“I think you’re doing great with your cat impersonation,” observes Sky. “Just accept your limits. I won’t tell Tay.”
Nani looks at him with a bunch of noodles hanging from his mouth. Sky cracks up because he looks extremely cute. He leans over the table and touches Nani’s nose, red because of the heat coming from the soup. “Bop.”
Nani crosses his eyes to look at his own nose.
“Come on, chew your food”, Sky encourages him briskly, a little embarrassed by his own behaviour.
They eat in silence because a human and a cat can’t talk to each other.
“I miss your yapping,” blurts Sky when he finishes eating. Nani reaches out to touch his hand and starts caressing it. Sky pictures a paw. He smiles. “I like you as a cat but I miss your voice. And your brain.”
Nani touches his head with the back of his hand as to say ‘my brain is still here’. Sky laughs and grabs Nani’s hand. He figures that people hold cats’ paws from time to time. “I miss you voicing your thoughts.”
Nani furrows his brows in a very human way. He digs his fingers in the flesh of Sky’s hand. Sky doesn’t know what message he wants to convey so he looks at him quizzically.
“Meow”, says Nani. This clarifies nothing.
Sky meows back. The smile that brightens up Nani’s face is very uncatlike, but it is endearing all the same.
Once they have both finished, Sky disposes of the cups. He turns to the sink with the intention of washing the forks and finds Nani drinking from the faucet. “This is getting way too realistic.”
Nani turns his head towards him, his tongue lapping the running water. “I can fill a glass for you,” offers Sky, a little perplexed. He suddenly remembers the bet and decides this would make a perfect picture to send to Tay. He tells Nani not to move and fetches his phone. He then sends a message to Tay, smiling proudly.
Nani closes the tap as a human would do but Sky doesn’t point it out to him. “You look ridiculous,” he says instead, smiling fondly at Nani’s wet chin.
The other boy wipes his face on his shirt. Sky can’t help but laugh.
Nani advances on him, moving deliberately in slow motion. Sky is impressed by his commitment to his role. The other boy rests a hand on his shoulder as his face inches closer to Sky’s. Sky gets cross-eyed to watch him. His heart picks up his pace. “What…?”
Nani rubs his head against Sky’s, his hair tickling Sky’s face. Sky caresses his back because this is what people do with cats, right? They pet them.
Nani purrs. Sky is torn between laughing and showering him with kisses. He clears his throat. “Okay.”
Nani stops and looks at him without blinking. He suddenly yawns, eyes wrinkled and nose scrunched up. Sky can’t tell if he is acting or if it’s a real yawn. He checks the time. “Why don’t you go wear your pyjamas? I know cats don’t wear pyjamas but you can’t be naked,” he starts blabbering. “I mean…go and wear something comfortable. We can watch a movie. I mean…I can watch a movie, because I’m the human here, you can sleep on my lap. Oh, shit.” Sky wants to smash his head against the wall.
Nani smiles softly. His lips move to mouth something but Sky doesn’t understand. Plus, this would count as talking so he deliberately turns away not to witness Nani losing the bet. “Will you be okay without a litter box?” he jokes to defuse his embarrassment.
Nani mewls, looking discontent.
“I’m joking, don’t sulk.”
Sky washes the cutlery and wipes the table. He then moves to the living room. If Nani weren’t a cat they could have played FIFA, but cats can’t use controllers.
Nani joins him in the living room a few minutes later. He is not wearing his pyjamas but an oversized pink t-shirt and white trousers. Maybe he sleeps in this outfit, who knows.
Sky pats the spot beside him on the sofa. Nani sits down and immediately curls up against him. He is usually touchy, but never to this extent. He decided to play the cuddliest of the cats just to drive Sky crazy.
“Should we watch The Aristocats?” he suggests.
Nani bites his shoulder.
“Hey!” complains Sky, even though he didn’t feel any pain at all. “Cats don’t bite.”
Nani looks at him from under his eyelashes. His eyes are breathtaking, even when they seem to be scolding Sky.
“Do they?”
Nani sinks his teeth in the flesh of Sky’s shoulder once again as his fingers curl in the fabric of Sky’s t-shirt.
“Ok, I guess they do,” concedes Sky, massaging his shoulder.
Nani nuzzles his upper arm, his hand still on Sky’s chest.
Sky’s heart is beating way too fast. “So, The Aristocats yes or no? Head bump for yes, bite for no.”
He expects Nani to either bite him or bump his head against his shoulder, not for him to actually head butt him.
“Ouch!”
Nani has the decency to look apologetic.
“I didn’t know you were this enthusiastic about The Aristocats.”
Nani giggles.
Sky can’t help but bop his nose once again. “You’re a menace.”
Nani hisses.
“Hey, behave.”
The other boy shakes his head more like a stubborn kid than a cat.
Sky pats his head. “Should we have some treats as we watch the movie?”
Nani nods enthusiastically. Once again, not cat behaviour.
Sky finds some ice cream in Nani’s refrigerator. He divides it into two bowls and carries them to the sofa. The other boy is staring at the ceiling, bored.
Sky chuckles. “Too bad that cats can’t play with their phone.” He hands Nani his bowl of vanilla ice cream. Nani sticks his face inside the bowl. Sky sighs, it’s his fault for having forgotten to bring spoons. “I’ll be right back.”
When he returns to the living room, Nani is licking the ice cream straight from the bowl. His chin is smeared with ice cream. “I think you’re enjoying this way too much.”
Nani tilts his head to one side. Sky reaches out to wipe the ice cream off his face. “You’re enjoying behaving like a giant kitten.”
Nani crosses his legs and accepts the spoon that Sky gives him. He scrunches up his nose before digging in. Sky watches him until his own ice cream starts to melt. This soft spot he has for Nani is getting…softer.
“I forgot about the movie,” he realises when they have finished with their treat.
Nani licks his lips in an exaggerated way, trying to imitate a cat licking his whiskers.
Sky checks the time. It’s a quarter to ten. “If you talked now, I wouldn’t tell Tay. I would let you win your ten thousand baht.”
Nani places the bowl on the small table in front of him. He plasters himself against Sky’s side.
“Fine, have it your way,” mumbles Sky as he looks for the remote. “Remember that you’re a cat and you can’t sing along.”
He dims the living room lights before starting the movie. Nani grabs his hand and places it on his head. Sky figures he wants to be petted. He had met clingy cats in his lifetime, but none of them has ever made his heart race.
As he strokes Nani’s hair with his fingers, he wonders what will happen after midnight, when Hirunkitty will go back to be just Hirunkit.
Nani makes a soft noise. Sky turns to look at him, the TV lights dancing on his pretty face, his eyes half closed. “Sleepy?”
Nani rubs his cheek against his shoulder and links their arm. One of his hands ends up on Sky’s thigh and he starts massaging it soon after, like a kneading cat.
Sky’s fingers move on their own volition to touch Nani’s chin. “Where do you like to be petted the most?” he whispers.
Nani lifts his head to grant him access. Sky starts stroking his chin and muffles a laugh. This is surreal.
He moves his hand to scratch behind Nani’s ears. “Do you like it here too?”
Nani starts purring with his eyes closed. Or, at least, he starts making noises to imitate a cat’s purr.
Sky’s hand travels to the back of his head and scratches his nape. Nani is making cat noises mixed with human noises. All of them convey enjoyment, anyway.
Sky scratches his upper back and his shoulders. He slowly moves to Nani’s chest, where he stops. “I’ve heard that most cats don’t like to have their belly scratched.”
Nani makes a disapproving sound and sinks deeper into the sofa. He spreads out his arms.
Sky gathers that he wants his belly touched. He should have known that Nani would be that kind of cat. Smiling to himself, Sky scratches Nani’s stomach. Soon enough, Nani starts squirming and Sky realises that he must be ticklish, so he takes advantage of his friend. After all, he asked for it. Nani’s purr purr turns into high-pitched, very humanlike noises of protest. He grabs Sky’s wrists to make him stop and pleads him with his eyes. It must be torture for him not to be able to speak.
Sky takes pity on him. “Let’s take a video for Tay.” He grabs his phone to start the recording and puts his hand on Nani’s belly once again. “I won’t tickle you, I promise. Come on, start purring.”
The corner of Nani’s eyes are wet, his cheeks flushed, but he complies with Sky’s request. Sky has to put his fist inside his mouth so as not to laugh and ruin the video as he gently rubs Nani’s stomach while his friend tries to recreate a cat’s purr as best as he can. The more he does that, the worse he gets. He must be tired.
Sky stops the recording and sends the video to Tay. Not long after, he receives a reply. He cracks up at Tay’s response.
Nani steals the phone from his hand. “Hey, cats can’t read,” Sky protests as he tries to recover his phone. Nani moves to the other end of the sofa, sitting on his heels and holding the phone close to his chest. He bursts out laughing.
Sky snatches his phone back and rereads the message. ‘Scratch his butt now.’ “I know that most cats love that, but it’s better if we set some boundaries here.”
Nani laughs with his mouth wide open and his front teeth on display. He then moves his eyebrows in a suggesting way and wiggles his ass in Sky’s direction.
“You can’t be serious,” deadpans Sky.
His friend covers his mouth to muffle his snort. Once he has calmed down, he slides closer to Sky on the sofa. Sky uses his pinkie fingers to dry the tears from the corner of Nani’s eyes. “Your performance so far has been impressive, I’m sure you have a high chance of being cast as a cat in your next drama.”
Nani makes a disapproving expression and grabs his wrist. He moves it back and forth between his and Sky’s chest. “Okay, okay, our next drama.”
Nani brings Sky’s hand to his face and rubs it against his forehead.
“You can be the cat and I can be the dog,” proposes Sky. “This is how our fans see us, right?”
Nani shrugs.
“Woof,” says Sky.
“Meow,” replies Nani.
They look at each other for a few, silent seconds before guffawing. Nani bends over to rest his head on Sky’s chest, shaking with laughter.
“I’d be a terrible dog,” jokes Sky. “I don’t think I can relate to dogs.”
Nani nuzzles his chest.
Sky touches the shell of his ear. “Maybe we can both be cats in our next drama. Meow.”
Nani shakes his head vigorously.
“Fine, you’ll be the cat and I’ll be your owner then.”
Nani straightens up and touches Sky’s face with the tips of his fingers.
If Sky had to be completely honest, right now he feels more like a mouse trapped under Nani’s claws. He blinks rapidly. “Okay,” he murmurs for a lack of a better reply. Nani moves his feet on the sofa and the remote falls on the floor. Sky realises that the movie was paused. He doesn’t remember doing that. “Shall we continue?”
Nani lies down and puts his head on Sky’s lap. Sky accepts his fate and restarts the movie.
He receives a text from Tay. ‘How is it going?’
‘We’re watching a movie.’
‘Oh, Netflix and chill? ;)’
Sky deliberately ignores his joke. ‘Nani hasn’t spoken in hours, I hate you.’
‘You don’t need to speak in these situations.’
Sky locks his screen and throws the phone on the table. He absentmindedly starts to stroke Nani’s hair. It’s quite relaxing, for both of them. Nani sighs blissfully.
They watch the movie till the end. Sky turns on the main lights and checks the time: it’s twenty minutes to midnight. “Nani, your curse will be lifted in twenty minutes!”
Nani mutters something- luckily - unintelligible. He rises and rests his back against the sofa. His face is creased because of the fabric of Sky’s jeans.
“Did you sleep well?” teases Sky.
Nani rubs his tired eyes with his fists. He looks more like a cat now than ever.
Sky strokes his chin with his pointer finger. “You look so cute.”
Nani bats his eyelashes as a smile takes over his face.
Sky’s heart flutters. He pats Nani’s head. “If you were an actual cat I would smother you with kisses,” he blurts.
His friend’s eyes become suddenly very alert. Sky curses himself and his stupid, awkward mouth. He doesn’t expect, though, Nani’s face to come close to his. He expects even less Nani to lean in and lick his cheek.
Sky is so puzzled that he doesn’t react straight away. “That was weird,” he murmurs at last.
Nani’s face clouds over. He touches Sky’s face to wipe his saliva off his cheek.
Sky clears his throat. Nani’s gloomy face is breaking his heart. “Is that how cats kiss?”
Nani puts some distance between them and looks down at his folded hands. Sky figures that he is upset. But he is still playing this stupid game, refusing to speak, so Sky has to play by its rules as well. “Come here,” he tells Nani as he grabs his arm to draw him closer. He gives himself no time to overthink this as he starts peppering Nani’s face with kisses, submitting to his own cute aggression towards his friend.
He has never kissed Nani’s face. Or any other part of his body. His skin is warm and plush and smells good.
Nani giggles uncontrollably as he lets himself be kissed.
Sky kisses his head, his ears, his cheeks, his nose in quick succession until he runs out of breath. “This was your punishment for being naughty,” he declares.
Nani looks flushed and dishevelled. Sky combs his hair with his fingers, Nani following his every movement with wide eyes. His mouth curves into a mischievous smile before he leans forward to kiss Sky’s cheek softly.
Sky had a feeling that this Nani would be the end of him.
Taking advantage of his closeness, he grabs Nani’s chin between his thumb and pointer finger. His gaze moves from Nani’s eyes to his lips, asking him a question that needs no words. Good thing that cats can’t talk, this would have been an awkward conversation.
Sky’s next breath is swallowed by Nani’s mouth, pressing against his so eagerly but so sweetly.
Nani keeps planting his lips against Sky’s, over and over again, giving him no respite but also no real fulfilment. Sky eventually grabs him by the back of his neck to finally and properly taste his lips. Nani melts into the kiss, whimpering. He then grabs the front of Sky’s shirt as he lies down on the sofa to pull him on top of himself. Sky straddles him.
They kiss and they kiss and they kiss until everything around them becomes a blur.
Sky’s insides have never been this close to melting.
The sound of Sky’s phone vibrating makes them jump. Sky curses and grabs his phone instinctively. As he unlocks his screen, he casts a glance at Nani beneath him. He looks angelic and sinful at the same time.
The text is from Tay. ‘Did I win?’
Sky checks the time. It’s ten minutes past midnight. “Nani, you’re a human again! You can speak!”
Nani blinks. “Ki-” He clears his throat a few times. “Kiss me,” he croaks at last, reaching for him.
Sky laughs. “I would have never imagined that these would be your first words. Wait, Tay wants to know if he won.”
Nani’s brows furrow. “Nani won,” he says, voice still hoarse.
“I know, but will he believe it?”
Nani pats Sky’s hip. “I don’t care, he can keep his ten thousand baht if he doesn’t.”
“Why did you accept his challenge if you barely care about your victory?”
Nani covers his face with his hands. “You know why.”
Sky scratches his head. “I don’t?”
Nani looks at him through his fingers. “Don’t make me say it,” he begs in a whiny tone.
Sky thinks back to when Nani agreed to the bet and tries to relive the last few hours in his mind. He has an epiphany. “Oh.”
Nani stops hiding behind his hands. “Sorry, khun Sky.”
Sky’s insides do melt now. He grabs Nani’s cheeks and squeezes them. “You’re cunning like a cat.”
“Cats are not cunning”, protests Nani. “And neither is Nani. You call me stupid all the time and now I’m cunning.”
“When have I ever called you stupid?”
“Never mind,” Nani pouts. “I didn’t mean to trick you, I just wanted your attention.”
“No, you wanted me to lose my control. That’s cunning.”
“Are you mad at me, khun Sky?”
Sky sighs. “Of course not. But just so you know, there was no need for all of that, you could have done the same without pretending to be a cat.”
Nani beams. “But it was fun, wasn’t it?”
“Sure,” lies Sky.
“And you kissed me because I was a cat.”
“No, I kissed you because you are you.”
Nani giggles. “Good.”
“It must be your pheromones,” jokes Sky. “With all the times you rubbed against me, I must be covered in them.”
Nani strokes his arm, probably to spread some more pheromones. “Sorry, you’re Nani’s now.”
“I was already yours, didn’t you know?”
Nani turns a deep red. How adorable.
Sky clears his throat. “Anyway, I’m going to tell Tay that he lost the bet and to send us the money. We are going to split it.”
“But you didn’t do anything!”
Sky squints. “I had to endure all of that.”
“Was Nani so insufferable?”
“No, of course not. But it was hard for me not to be able to talk to you.”
Nani smiles and reaches out to bop Sky’s nose. “You took such good care of Nani.”
Sky blushes. “Thank you.”
Nani’s eyes sharpen. “Okay, let’s split the money. We can go out for dinner. Somewhere fancy.”
Sky smirks. “Like a date?”
It’s Nani’s turn to blush. “Like whatever,” he mumbles.
Sky bends over to bump their foreheads together. “Ok, my dear whatever, let’s do that.”
The boy beneath him giggles. Sky wants to eat the giddiness off his mouth. His eyes zero in on Nani’s lips and he goes in for a kiss, but stops at the last second. “Wait, If I keep you, do I need to buy pet insurance?”
Nani snorts and pulls Sky by the collar of his shirt to kiss him stupid.
