Hi there! Complete manga spoilers through Chapter 236, and limited spoilers to the end of series ahead.
My goal with this is to try and provide a look into what Gojo was thinking about while fighting Sukuna. What combat methods, what concepts he was using, and so on. I realize this is perhaps an unusual idea, but I humbly request you stick with me. I’ll be starting in Chapter 221 with his unsealing, covering the body swap and training arc with Yuta in the timeskip through flashbacks, and continuing chapter by chapter through 236.
Gojo caught my attention not just because of his looks, which I certainly don’t mind, but because his abilities are space and time. During his fight with Sukuna he was doing things and using phenomena that matched what I study in real life, and I became obsessed, picking apart everything I could find in the panels. Gravitational lensing, orbital motion, acceleration in n-body systems. The list goes on, as I hope you’ll see. I have a few (necessary) head-canons that will be included, mostly in regards to the exact execution and methodology of cursed techniques and how each fighter applies them in combat, but I will be remaining strictly canon compliant through the entire fic. Gojo will still die. It pains me too if it’s any comfort.
Anyway, this will be a pretty nerdy story just by nature, but you’re on AO3 so what did you expect? If you have any questions I’ll do my best to explain further in the comments. I’ll leave some links to the relevant content in the author’s note at the end of each chapter, and I’ll be using the TCB translation for the dialogue as it seems to keep the spirit of his writing the best.
