Asher's stupid self insert

Summary:

Something I was writing for my English class because I goddamn can.

Gay and wholesome at the end!!

Takes place when Ponyboy, Dallas and Johnny meet Cherry and Marcia at the movies.

(Very inspired by the movie, sorry if that sucks fjsdhfjk.)

Notes:

Wassup. My name Asher. Usually I just lurk around on this website reading a bunch of gay shit but I wrote this in English class and thought I'd upload it here because I damn well can.

Originally this was meant to be a quick thing for homework where my teacher gave my class a writing prompt and we had to do a little paragraph but I kind of sort of went overboard because I'm mad autistic for this damn book (plus I love the movie).

It gets pretty damn gay though I'd say it's wholesome. Might write some more if I feel like it so if you like whatever I write here it'd be nice if you wanted to look out for anything else I write.

And last of all, love you all. <3

Chapter 1: Meeting the girlies at the drive-in

Chapter Text

As the sun began to set, a strange feeling of excitement filled the air as I walked down the pathway in town. I couldn't help but have a smile on my face because tonight I was planning to meet up with my friends at the local drive-in theatre to watch some movie with them and their boyfriends. Their names were Sherri (though everyone called her Cherry because of her red hair), Marcia, Bob and Randy.

Cherry and I met at my high school where we got paired up to do some classwork and we became friends almost immediately even though she was what people called a 'Soc' and I didn't really belong to any sort of gang but still got picked on for being 'weird' and a faggot. Cherry didn't mind that though because she saw me for who I really was, and so did her friend Marcia when I got introduced to her.

Bob, Randy and I weren't really friends. Like, at all. In fact, we hated each other. They were also Socs. Big time ones at that. I think they hate me because they thing I might steal their girlfriends away but I know the girls aren't too worried about that because I told them I like men just like them which isn't all that accepted in Tulsa but they know to keep their mouths shut. That's just what us girlies do. We stick up for each other.

Just as it started to get dark, I made my way over to the drive-in theatre where we were meant to meet. The girls had told me that they were going there all together in either... was it Bob or Randy's Mustang? Honestly, I couldn't give less of a shit. They're with each other most of the time, more than they are with there girlfriends. It's like they're the ones dating! But, moving on. I was meant to meet them there.

I searched my pockets for any kind of money only to find a few coins that would not have been enough to get a ticket. So shit. Plan B I guess. Hopping the fence of course! So I made my way around the drive-in's fence and once I got somewhere I figured I wouldn't be spotted I began to climb. It was now officially night so it was kind of hard to see what I was doing though luckily all the light pollution from the massive screen and other small lit up signs helped a bunch.

Eventually, I dropped down on the other side and hissed in pain as I looked down at a new cut that had been formed on my hand. It wasn't too deep but it was definitely bleeding and stung a bit. Hooray.

I shrugged it off, wiping the blood onto my too-big raggedy jeans I wore and started the journey down to all the parked cars to find the flashy blue Mustang.

I found them all pretty quickly although I something seemed a little off. When I caught up to them, Cherry and Marcia had stormed out of the car while Cherry shouted at Bob. They had began to walk over to the separate seating area without cars.

"Heeeey, ladies. What's up?" I greeted them casually, walking alongside them while slightly out of breath from climbing over a whole fence.

"Hello, Asher." Marcia replied, giving me a wave with a sweet smile as her brown bob bobbed bobbily.

"Bob is drunk, again!" Cherry exclaimed, storming off and climbing over the railing into the seating area with the two of us following behind her.

She slumped down at one of the front seats and Marcia and I sat beside her. "Of course. Who's surprised?" I threw my hands up dramatically in disbelief and rolled my eyes while I sunk down in the disgustingly textured plastic seat, crossing my arms as my leg began to absentmindedly bounce.

"Shouldn't we just leave then?" Marcia suggested and looked rightfully concerned.

"I came here to see a damn movie so I'm gonna watch the damn movie." Cherry snapped back, looking pissed. She clutched her bag on her lap and focused on the movie. I just sighed, muttered a quiet 'fair enough' and tried to focus on the film as well.
