Work Text:
Ominis figures that he's not going to last much longer. He thinks every night that his head is going to explode in his sleep, sometimes praying that it does.
Sebastian fears that he's going to die without something good to be remembered by, despite the fact that no one will remember him at this rate.
Ominis can't remember anything and doesn't feel real, Solomon is dead, and Anne has left.
The letter she left has been read thousands of times by only a singular pair of eyes.
The house is falling apart. The two boys live there but are too into their spiraling lives to take care of anything else besides each other. The fruit bowl is full of mold and bugs, their beds are so broken they practically sleep on the floor,
Ominis will lose his wand for days at a time, when he does he just lays all day, trying to sleep his life away before Sebastian finds it for him. They'll go to the beach every so often to clean off and try to feel alive. To Ominis the water isn't cold enough and the rough rocks under his feet aren't hurting or making him bleed enough, not like they used to. He feels like he's a soul underneath his skin, like his fingertips are far away from his nerves, and his brain isn't getting any messages.
The last trip to Hogsmeade frightened them so much they stayed in the house for a week. The busker was being too loud, they saw too many classmates, even Professor Garlick greeting them kindly and wishing them happy days had Ominis clutching Sebastian's arm. They were zombies in daylight to these people, husks in the Highlands.
The two nervous wrecks will die without each other and with each other.
They're usually wrapped in each others arms and legs like a straitjacket, their hair gross and greasy, their pillow too warm, their arms being cold without the blanket but their legs too hot with the blanket, the both of them too lazy to move it.
How they're alive, neither of them know. They don't know anything now, they don't have the energy to.
All they know is that they have each other- whether that's a good thing or not is a conversation they're too scared to have
