Work Text:
Ever since the first time Jaeyi hugged her, Seulgi felt something.
It wasn’t love, at least not at first. And it wasn’t just the physical warmth of Jaeyi’s body against hers.
It was something more.
It was a warm feeling in her chest, and the pain inside her heart faded for a moment. For just a few seconds, she could focus on Jaeyi, and only on her.
How her arms held her, protective, possessive even.
How Jaeyi’s body molded to her smaller frame.
The firm and delicious smell of both an expensive perfume and Jaeyi’s own scent.
But most importantly, Seulgi felt safe in Jaeyi’s arms.
Seulgi always knew Jaeyi knew how to read people, and she knew what Seulgi needed right away.
But every person told her that this was different. Jaeyi has never been like that before, not even with Beomsu.
“Really, I don’t know what you did to her, but I’m sure she’s always thinking of you, even if she’s doing something else.” Kyung told her a few days ago.
“Yeah, Jaeyi has never behaved like that before with anyone.” Yeri continued. “Usually she never shows when she cares for other people. She barely even shows emotions.”
Seulgi had to suppress a smile that threatened to show thanks to those words. She didn’t even know why she wanted to smile in the first place.
She barely knew anything about Jaeyi, who knew everything about her.
“There you are.” Seulgi listened before feeling a pair of arms on her body. “Where have you been, princess?”
“Kyung and I went with Yeri, she needed to talk with a professor.” Seulgi responded. Jaeyi’s chin now took place on her shoulder and Seulgi could only think that she didn’t want this moment to end.
Even if they were at the school’s restrooms, where everyone could enter and see them, both girls couldn’t care less.
“You know? I love to see you wearing that uniform.” Jaeyi stated.
“Why?”
“Because I gave it to you.” She explained. “And I would give you the world if you needed it. But you only need me right now.”
And that was true. Even if Seulgi couldn’t say it out loud, she only needed Jaeyi to be happy.
“Just like I need you.” Jaeyi whispered, making Seulgi look up to see their reflections on the mirror. The look in Jaeyi’s eyes told her she was saying the truth.
Jaeyi loosened her hold on Seulgi’s body to let her turn around, so they could be face-to-face.
Seulgi finally let her arms move and held Jaeyi by her neck, while Jaeyi’s arms settled themselves on Seulgi’s waist.
“Thank you.” Seulgi said, making Jaeyi smirk.
“No need, princess. I should thank you instead, actually.” Jaeyi let herself smile until she realized Seulgi’s face was getting close to hers.
The sudden surprise faded as another feeling took place on Jaeyi’s mind and heart. Something like pride, as if she had just won the lottery.
Jaeyi moved her head forward, and her eyes closed instantly as she felt Seulgi’s lips on hers, and her hold on the smaller girl’s waist became stronger, as if she didn’t want to let her go.
Seulgi didn’t even know why she wanted to kiss Jaeyi, she had never felt the need to kiss anyone before. But now, there she was. Her heart hammering against her ribcage and she could only focus on Jaeyi’s soft lips, Jaeyi’s hands on her lower back, Jaeyi’s soft breathings against her cheek… Jaeyi, Jaeyi, Jaeyi.
The kiss was not like Seulgi thought, now how she had dreamed of a few weeks ago when she had that sleepover at Jaeyi’s place.
In her dream, she could feel Jaeyi’s hunger for her, as if she was her prey.
This kiss, the real one, was carefully soft and tender, as if she was Jaeyi’s most precious treasure.
Since they were so physically close, Jaeyi could feel Seulgi’s rapid heartbeat against her chest. She hoped Seulgi could feel hers too.
And it was becoming Jaeyi’s favorite feeling ever along with Seulgi’s lips against hers.
Seulgi accidentally tugged Jaeyi’s bottom lip and that’s when the taller girl decided to stop.
“Sorry, I’m sorry. Did I go too far? I’m sorry, I’m so-” Jaeyi stopped Seulgi’s words by hugging her and pressing her smaller body against her chest. Seulgi felt safe again.
“You did nothing wrong, princess.” Jaeyi whispered. “If it makes you feel better, I’ve been wanting to kiss you for a few weeks now.”
Seulgi pulled apart a little, just to see Jaeyi’s expression as proof that she was saying the truth. She only saw Jaeyi smirking, her eyes with that look full of love and something more Seulgi could never guess.
“We should go back to class.” Jaeyi whispered. She didn’t move.
“Yeah.” Seulgi responded. She didn’t move.
Seulgi thought she was now addicted to Jaeyi’s hugs, to her warmth and the feeling of safety, protection and, yeah, possessiveness.
Looks like after all those years, Seulgi finally found her favorite and safest place: Jaeyi’s arms.
