She yearned for what she had.
Zoey. Mira. The only people who’d ever looked at her like she wasn’t some cursed half-thing. The only people who kissed her like she was something soft. Something worth holding onto.
She had them.
They kissed her cheeks, her lips, the glowing lines on her wrists. Mira pressed warm tea into her hands after a long mission. Zoey joked too loudly and called her baby girl in English, even though she said it with a crooked smile and a heart that meant it.
