Glimpses of the Key's Guardians

Summary:

Many years into the future, in a world where Buffy and Spike are leaders and teachers in a Scottish castle turned Slayers school, a terrible tragedy occurs. A bittersweet drabble series (with a happy / hopeful ending) in the memory of Michelle Trachtenberg.

Chapter Text

Silent tears were running down Buffy's cheeks as she watched Spike drop a feather-like kiss on her all-too-still sister's forehead.

She'd somehow managed to hold it together so far, but feeling her vampire's shaky exhale as he wrapped his arms around her from behind was what opened the floodgates.

She turned to bury her wracking sobs in his chest, clinging to him for dear life.

How was she supposed to keep on living, now?

Thirty-nine.

That was Dawn's age when they got the call about the car accident. When the doctors told them there was nothing more they could do.
