“YOU ARE 23 YEARS OLD FOR GOD‘S SAKE,GROW THE FUCK UP AND STOP BAWLING YOUR EYES OUT LIKE A CHILD Y/N,IT‘S JUST A HEADACHE!“,the voice of one of her older subordinate‘s echoed through the Squad room,immediately grabbing Olivia‘s attention even though she was currently sitting at her desk in her Office with the door closed.
Her head quickly snapped up and she immediately looked out of her Office window,being met with the sight of you standing infront of this 55 year old,tall,6‘3ft,overweight man.
You looked terrible,your hair was falling out of your claw clip and you were crying your eyes out,in comparison to him you looked even smaller to Olivia than you usually did,at 5‘2 with a skinny frame and hip length hair you’d always looked a bit younger than your actual age but even more so right now.
Liv‘s chest immediately tightened and a protective,maternal instinct rushed through her,now that she was looking she could also hear you crying,she hadn’t noticed that you weren’t feeling good today before because she hadn’t talked to you yet this morning due to her having been so focussed on her work and not having left her Office yet.
But now she was aware of the fact that something was going on and she was incredibly worried,your cries sounded like a mix of fear and pain,they were guttural cries which Olivia had never heard from you before.
You weren‘t someone that cried often,especially not in public or at work because you didn’t want your co-workers who were all much older than you to view you as a childlike person and Olivia knew that so she immediately knew that something bad must‘ve happened for you to hysterically cry like that infront of everyone.
Just as Olivia was rising up from her seat,still looking through the window she saw Amanda and Fin now getting up and into the rude Officer‘s face,loudly scolding him and telling him to shut up and whilst she usually disliked her subordinate‘s fighting Olivia couldn’t deny that she didn’t mind them telling him off this time because she knew that you weren‘t someone to yell back if someone was yelling at you and she was glad that they were standing up for you right now.
Although most of them tried not to show it when you were around many of your Squad members were actually feeling very protective over you due to not only your young age but also your sweet and forgiving nature,you‘d often just take insults from people without standing up for yourself and would excuse being treated poorly with the other person just maybe having had a bad day or problems in their own life which would often lead to some people just metaphorically walking all over you without any regards to how it was affecting you.
Because they didn’t want you to feel like a child that was getting protected your co-workers and Olivia would often wait until you were out of earshot to defend you should the situation arise but today Fin and Amanda just hadn’t been able to not jump in and defend you,not when you were crying like that.
Just as Olivia was opening her door and stepping out of her Office she could hear you sobbing,Amanda was now standing next to you,stroking your hair softly whilst shushing you and occasionally glaring at the guy whilst Fin was still all up in his face and gripping his shirt threateningly,asserting dominance.
Usually he was a very chill guy and not one for violence,he wasn‘t typically going around and intimidating people like Elliot had always done because Fin didn’t have anger issues but seeing that guy treat you like that had just send him over the edge.
He wasn‘t hurting the other Detective,just trying to intimidate him though.
“If I see you talkin‘ like that to her ever again you best believe I‘m gonna beat yo ass like it‘s never been beat before,not even by your Mama,do you understand?“,he growled,not having noticed Olivia yet.
The brunette took in the sight for a few quick seconds,gobsmacked at how emotionally charged everyone was right now,which had seemingly come out of nowhere from her point of view,before making her presence known by raising her voice so that she’d be able to talk over everyone and sternly said:
“Detective Edwardez,this is completely unacceptable behaviour,go home immediately,I want you to report to me first thing tomorrow morning“,before letting her gaze fall on Fin with the words:
“You go take 5 and calm down“,being less stern this time because she wasn‘t mad at him.
Detective Edwardez just huffed and mumbled something along the lines of how dumb it was that you were allowed to cry like a child but that he was getting send home for,in his words,setting you straight,but he did listen and just grabbed his jacket before leaving in a hurry because he didn’t want to get into any more trouble with Liv.
It was then,once he had left that Olivia‘s expression softened,concern sparkling in her calming and comforting brown eyes as she turned slightly and walked over to you and Amanda.
You were still crying loudly with a pained expression etched on your face,slightly shaking.
Amanda had wrapped an arm around your hip to steady you and was still calmingly stroking your head,essentially giving you a slight head massage whilst shushing you softly.
“Hey,what’s going on here,what’s wrong y/n,what happened?“,Liv then asked,her tone of voice now soft and inquiring,making sure to speak in a way that would make it clear to you that you weren‘t in trouble and that she wasn’t mad at you.
Usually Olivia wouldn’t just send someone home without getting all of the information about a situation first but when it came to you she was just always feeling so motherly that she just couldn’t help but want to protect you at all costs.
You just looked at her with another loud sob,your legs shaking slightly in embarassement at just having been involved in such a big scene,whilst being in a lot of pain.
You hadn’t been feeling well all afternoon yesterday but at 1am this morning you‘d woken up due to a horrible headache,every movement of yours had hurt and you’d immediately started to cry out in pain because you hadn’t known what to do.
You hadn’t been able to fall back asleep after that and had even thought about calling in sick today but had eventually decided to just try and suck it up and had gone to work regardless.
The pain had fluctuated all morning with it sometimes being more or less intense but at just 9:30am it had become so bad that you hadn’t been able to overplay it anymore.
You’d then started to cry softly and that had been when Detective Edwardz had started to scream at you which had not only made your headache a lot worse but had also terrified you,especially when he‘d grabbed ahold of you so that you wouldn’t walk away and listen to him,this had caused your cries to turn into heartbreaking sobs which had been a mixture of pain and of fear and that had then captured everyone else‘s attention.
“She has a headache“,Amanda just quickly answered for you,although you hadn’t told her that she’d noticed it by the way that you’d massaged your head every time that a pained expression had hushed over your face.
A sympathetic look immediately appeared on Olivia‘s face,she knew how terrible headaches could be.
“Ohhh I‘m so sorry y/n,is it a bad one?“,the brunette compassionately asked,immediately earning a pained whine from you in response as some tears were running down your face.
You were in so much pain that even something like nodding or talking just seemed to make it worse for you so you didn’t even try.
The headache had started in your temples hours ago but had since spread all over your head and had left you with pain in your neck now aswell because you’d been holding up your head uncomfortably high all morning in an attempt to lessen the headache or to at least not make it worse with head movements.
Right now the pain was mostly in the back of your head but your temples were still pounding a lot and you were starting to feel a bit wobbly,like your legs were about to collapse underneath of you at any moment.
Amanda seemed to somehow know this and quickly tightened her grip on you whilst shooting Olivia a look that was meant to ask if she,Liv,was going to take care of you or if she,Amanda,should stay by your side right now so that you wouldn’t fall.
You didn’t notice this as your vision was blurry with tears at the moment,your cries getting louder and more desperate,you honestly didn’t know what to do at this point,it was just so painful and it was feeling like it was never going to stop or get better.
Realistically you obviously knew that it wouldn’t be like this forever but right now you were just in so much pain that you weren‘t really believing that anymore and were just getting more and more worked up with each second that was passing,your cries hysterical at this point.
Olivia quickly gave Amanda a nod to tell the southern woman that she’d make sure that you’d be alright soon and softly reached out for you,pulled you against her side with her hands underneath of your armpits to make sure that you wouldn’t fall and softly but loudly enough so that you’d be able to hear her over your cries murmured:
“Shhh,I know…ohhhhh I know y/n,come on,let’s go into my Office yeah,I have you,you’re safe and you won’t fall,I promise,I won‘t let that happen“,her tone of voice soothing and maternal and slowly started to walk with you,holding you up slightly with each step because your legs seemed a bit weak and gently closed her door behind you guys with her foot so that she wouldn’t have to let go of you.
“Liv“,you whined painstakenly and gripped onto her Shirt tightly,the pain seeming to be unbearable for you right now.
Olivia immediately pulled you closer against herself,hugging you whilst still holding you up and softly shushed you.
“I‘m here“
“I‘m right here y/n,it’s gonna be okay,shhh,I‘ll make it better,I promise“,the brunette then mumbled and slowly moved over to her desk chair with a still sobbing you,sat down on it and cautiously eased you down onto her lap.
You didn’t mind that at all,you and Olivia had been close ever since you’d started to work at SVU and you viewed her as a maternal figure,also you were in so much pain right now that you didn’t really care about anything,you just wanted her to make it stop because you didn’t know how to do that yourself.
To you Olivia always just seemed to always have an answer for everything,she was someone that you viewed as a safe person to go to for help that would know what to do in every situation.
So there you were,straddling Olivia‘s lap whilst she was sitting on her chair,your head pounding so much that it felt difficult to hold up so you just let it flop back in exhaustion,immediately crying out in pain sharply,that had been a bad decision,the sudden movement had just amplified the pain by a thousand,or at least that‘s what it was feeling like to you at the moment.
Olivia immediately sucked in a sharp breath at that whilst silmutaniously softly placing a hand behind your head and protectively guiding it back up and towards her,holding it up for you as lightly as possible as to not hurt you.
Her heart had dropped for a few seconds when you’d cried out in pain as your head had flopped back and to be honest she was still a bit worried but she was trying not to show it so that you would calm down,knowing that you would just freak out even more if she were to appear nervous.
“Ooookay,shhh,there we go,you’re alright,I know that it hurts but you’re gonna be fine“,she then soothingly mumbled,trying to validate your feelings whilst also hoping that she could,essentially,kind of gaslight you a bit into thinking that you were alright so that you’d calm down quicker.
“It’s okay,I‘m right here“,the brunette then soothed again before taking out your claw clip,putting it down onto her desk and guiding your head into a lying position and softly holding it to her chest,hoping that hearing her heartbeat would help you calm down and started to very slowly rock back and forth with you to comfort you whilst keeping in mind to do that as slowly as possible so that it wouldn’t make your headache any worse.
This actually did seem to work a bit,you were starting to calm down,your hysterical cries turned into sad sniffles and hiccups after a few minutes,Olivia‘s presence alone helping a lot,she just had this maternal aura to her which was soothing but not only that,in your opinion she also had some kind of magic that she could use to be able to calm people down quickly and to make them feel safe.
The brunette was absentmindedly humming random songs by now and was cautiously massaging your head whilst still rocking back and forth slowly with you straddling her lap.
Somehow,which was mindblowing to you,Olivia had found out where exactly your head was hurting and was making sure to massage these spots whenever you were whining in pain.
Obviously Olivia had just figured out where your head was hurtig by just trying out massaging different spots of your head and noticing whenever you were quietening down again as she was doing that but because you were in so much pain right now you were just under the assumption that Olivia probably just had magic hands that somehow knew exactly where your headache was at.
This continued for a while and after about 35 minutes you’d calmed down significantly,your head was still hurting but not as much as it had before anymore which was nice.
You weren‘t crying anymore but you still had a pained expression on your face,your eyes were closed but your muscles were tense,Olivia was still holding onto the back of your head protectively but now she was sitting still with you.
“Sorry for crying“,you then suddenly apologetically mumbled,the pain still evident in your voice.
“That’s okay sweetheart,you’re in pain,it’s totally alright and valid for you to cry“,Liv immediately assuringly replied and softly ran a hand up and down your back comfortingly.
“It still hurts so much Liv“,you then choked out in response,missing the concerned look that Olivia was giving you since your eyes were closed but felt her briefly massaging the back of your head again.
“I know,I‘m sorry y/n“,Olivia then said in an understanding tone of voice and shifted you slightly on her lap so that you were sitting up straighter again,her gaze falling into a glass of water that was on her desk,giving her an idea.
“Y/n can you hold your head up by yourself for a moment and open your eyes please,I want you to try something and see if it helps?“,she then asked and although you didn’t really want to you did oblige but whined softly.
“Ohhh I know“,Liv immediately murmured in understanding and kept a hand on your back to make sure that you wouldn’t fall as she reached out for the glass of water on her desk with her other,now free,hand and held it up to you.
“Here can you take a few sips and see if it helps please?“,she then asked and cautiously handed it to you,only removing her hand from it once it was safe in your grasp.
You then did take a few slow sips and found that it was actually helping but couldn’t bring yourself to drink more because you were feeling a bit nauseaus and just handed it back to Olivia once you were done.
“It hurts Livvvvv“,you then whined again and let your head slowly sink backwards again,Olivia immediately put the glass back down onto her desk and softly reached out to hold your head up for you again,knowing that her doing this was taking away some of the pressure that holding up your head by yourself was bringing with it.
“I know,I‘m really sorry,do you want to move over to the Couch,that might be more comfortable,then I can also dim the lights and maybe you can try to sleep a bit because you look really tired?“,the brunette then suggested,quickly earning a quiet “mmmhhh“ in agreement in response from you.
“Alright,keep your head here,I don’t want it to flop back and cause you more pain but I need both of my hands to hold you“,Olivia then softly murmured and placed your head down on her chest and made sure that you were alright before shifting you slightly and standing up with you,quickly wrapping one arm under your butt and placing one hand on your back securely so that you wouldn’t fall.
You trusted her but still immediately wrapped your arms around her neck tightly with a quiet whine because you were afraid of falling.
“Shhh it‘s okay“,the older woman quickly soothed and softly gave your right shoulder a maternal kiss to comfort you.
You just let out a sigh,content with being held and slightly swung your legs,one on each side of her hips,back and forth a bit and giggled softly,it was nice not having to support your own weight!,you thought to yourself and heard Olivia chuckle slightly.
“You like being held,don’t you?“,the brunette knowingly mumbled in a maternal tone of voice and gave you the softest few bounces possible to not aggravate your headache.
A bit embarassed you just buried your face into her neck immediately and didn’t answer but that was fine because Olivia hadn’t needed an answer from you anyways,she was able to read your body language very well.
“Alright snuggle bug,let‘s go over to the Couch and get you all comfy on there“,she then just murmured and carried you over to the Couch where she then cautiously put you down onto,making sure that you were lying down on your back and not your side safely.
Much to your dismay she then stepped away for a few seconds,you didn’t want her to leave!
But then she luckily just dimmed the lights,closed the blinds and quickly came back with a fuzzy blanket which she then wrapped wrapped around you to ensure that you were comfortable and crouched down infront of the Couch to be on your eye level,reached out and softly stroked her pointer finger across your cheek as you looked at her with big,trusting eyes.
“Why don’t you try and take a nap hm,then you won’t feel the pain?“,Liv then softly suggested and smiled knowingly upon hearing your response.
“I can’t it hurts sooo baddd“,you quietly whined and quickly but softly gripped onto her pointer finger,the sweet gesture making a huge wave of protectiveness wash over Olivia.
“Okay,how about I sit with you and you just try to fall asleep and if you can’t then that’s fine
aswell?“,Liv then asked,earning a small nod yes from you.
“Alright“,she then mumbled and cautiously lifted your upper body up so that she could take a seat on the Couch and then let you ly back down,this time with half of your body on her lap and adjusted the blanket around you again to ensure that you’d be comfortable.
Loving getting cuddles from her you just looked up at Olivia trustingly,hating the fact that your headache was kind of ruining this bonding moment between the both of you.
Olivia just chuckled warmly as she glanced down at you and noticed that your eyes weren‘t closed.
“You have to close your eyes to fall asleep silly girl“,she then softly said,her pretty,brown eyes sparkling in a maternal way.
“But I‘d rather look at you“,you just mumbled and softly grabbed ahold of her necklace,twisting it around a few times,it was sparkling nicely in the dim lit room and it was kind of fascinating you right now.
“I know but you‘ll fall asleep faster with your eyes closed honey,just trust me“,Liv then respondingly cooed and started to softly stroke your head,massaging it slowly in an attempt to relieve some of the pain for you and watched in satisfaction as you instinctively closed your eyes,turned slightly to your side and snuggled your face against her stomach.
Olivia just silently continued with that for a few more minutes until she felt your grip on her necklace loosening and your hand sinking down onto her chest as the necklace slid out of your fingers,you’d fallen asleep.
