"Good morning!"
Those were the first words Satoru heard as he woke up. He groggily opened his eyes as he groaned, his vision slowly fading from black. The first thing he felt was a painful headache, followed by intense pain all over his body. Then he realized he was lacking his usual sunglasses, which explained the painful headache. Soon he realized why he was in so much pain. He was in bed with bandages wrapped around his stomach and neck.
That's right. He nearly lost his life to a curse user.
He would have been dead if Geto didn't show up.
Satoru's fear turned to relief when he saw a familiar beauty present in the room. Shoulder-length black hair, dark teal eyes, the sweetest smile in the whole world...
And she was all his.
"Glad to see you're finally awake," Riko said. "You were out cold for a whole day, so I was a little worried."
Satoru let out a weak chuckle. "It'll take more than that to take me out," he reassured. "I'm one of the two strongest sorcerers, after all." He attempted to get on his feet, but intense pain made him hiss and he collapsed onto the soft mattress once more.
"One of the two strongest sorcerers who can't tell how much pain he's in," Riko corrected. "I don't know what happened out there, but you're too hurt to get back up." She walked closer to the bed. "You stay put. I'll take care of you."
Satoru was about to protest, but then the stabbing pain in his stomach got him to shut up. He sighed in defeat as he sunk into the bed. It seemed he had no other choice but to be pampered by his loving wife. Though it wasn't all that bad. He loved it when she took care of him after an intense mission. He looked forward to seeing what she had planned for him on this fine morning.
The first part was breakfast in bed. Riko presented a mini table containing Satoru's preferred food type: sweets. This particular display included a sweet apple crepe drizzled in honey and a cup of edamame tea with a single mint leaf floating on top. He eagerly dug in, only to find out the crepe secretly contained whipped cream and marshmallows. His eyes widened when he discovered the taste, which made him smile as Riko did the same.
Once breakfast was done, Riko surprised Satoru with a hot stone massage. He laid flat on his back as she brought out two stones and proceeded to rub them on his hands and feet. It was firm, but her touch was still gentle. Satoru couldn't help but sigh as he felt his body tingling from certain pressure points affecting his body.
Riko giggled slightly. "Sounds like you're enjoying this pampering," she said.
"Only 'cause it's you, starshine," Satoru praised. "You know what gets me to tick."
There it was. That casual flirting of his. He always knew what would get his wife to blush. So Riko had to pause the hot stone massage to give her powerful husband a smooch. Naturally he attempted to get a few more kisses, but a single finger to his lips made him stop. No words were exchanged, for the two knew there would be plenty of time to smooch later.
Once the massage was finished, Riko had to replace Satoru's bandages with fresh ones. She lifted the blankets and carefully removed the bandages around his stomach. With those bandages removed, Satoru could see the injury they were concealing. There were massive claw marks that looked deep, no doubt caused by a shikigami controlled by that dangerous curse user. Riko used a bit of rubbing alcohol (which even made one of the strongest sorcerers wince) on the claw marks before wrapping the newer bandages around his stomach. And much like with the earlier massage, she had a gentle touch on his skin.
"And... There!" Riko proudly announced as she secured the bandages in place.
It was at this moment that Satoru realized something crucial. "Wouldn't it be easier to go get Shoko?" he asked.
"What, and prevent me doing stuff like this?" Riko asked in response. Then she leaned towards Satoru for another smooch, which made him blush and unable to respond. Riko couldn't help but laugh at her husband's flustered expression.
"So what else do you have planned for me?" Satoru wondered after a bit of silence.
"You just have to wait and see," Riko teased as she tapped Satoru's nose. "For now, you need to keep resting. I wouldn't want your injuries to get worse from you moving around recklessly."
"Not even a little hint?" Satoru coaxed.
Riko firmly shook her head. "Now you stay put," she ordered. Then she walked towards the door. "I need to prepare my other little treats just for you."
With that, Riko left the room and shut the door behind her. Satoru sighed as he closed his eyes, feeling relief with that stupid Six Eyes-induced headache finally going away. He was lucky to be married to such a wonderful woman. Her initial fierceness might have diminished as she matured, but her heart remained kind even after so many years. So with the promise of more pampering and other surprises, he allowed his body to relax, eagerly awaiting what else the former Star Plasma Vessel had in store just for him and him alone.
