A Peach’s Sweetness

Summary:

Dragon king and his peach male wife

Chapter Text

(1) Petals in the Snow

The wind howled through the mountains, biting at Dark Cacao Cookie's skin as he walked alone in the courtyard. The cold of his kingdom always seemed to follow him, as if it was a part of him now, like a weight he couldn't escape. But tonight, something was different.

There was a scent in the air, soft and sweet, almost like spring. It made no sense in this frozen land.

Dark Cacao stopped, narrowing his eyes as he saw a figure standing under a bare tree. The snow around the figure shimmered, but it was the petals drifting from the tree that caught his attention—delicate, pink petals that didn't belong in the winter cold.

Peach Blossom Cookie stood beneath the tree, his robes flowing gently in the breeze. Despite the chill, there was a calm around him, like the warmth of the sun that Dark Cacao could barely remember.

"You should leave," Dark Cacao said, his voice harsh. "This place isn't for someone like you."

Peach Blossom smiled softly, his golden eyes catching the light of the falling snow. "Maybe not. But sometimes, even the coldest places need something gentle to remind them of warmth."

Dark Cacao didn't say anything for a long moment, the words sticking in his throat. He felt the weight of his armor, the years of battle, the pain of his past. The last thing he needed was someone talking about warmth.

Peach Blossom stepped forward, slowly, carefully, like he wasn't sure how far he could go. "I know what it's like to carry pain," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "I've seen and lost so much... but even the hardest winters end. And so do the hardest battles."

Dark Cacao's eyes darkened. "You don't know anything about my battles," he muttered. The weight of his kingdom and the choices he'd made pressed down on him, harder than any sword ever could.

Peach Blossom didn't back away. He just stood there, calm and steady. "Maybe not," he agreed, his voice soft, "but I know that healing doesn't always look the way we expect it to. Sometimes it's the quiet moments, like this one, that can change everything."

Dark Cacao clenched his fists at his sides, his heart thundering in his chest. The idea of letting go, even just a little bit, felt impossible. He had built walls for so long, and the thought of taking them down—just to let someone in—was terrifying.

Peach Blossom reached out, gently touching the tree behind him. The petals swirled around them like they had a mind of their own, soft and peaceful.

Dark Cacao couldn't look away. He hated how calm it made him feel, how peaceful.

"What if I don't want to forget?" he asked quietly, his voice almost a challenge.

Peach Blossom met his gaze without hesitation. "Then don't. But sometimes, remembering doesn't mean holding onto everything. It means finding a way to let the bad go and hold on to what's good."

The wind howled again, but in that moment, Dark Cacao didn't feel as cold. He stood there, just a little longer than he wanted to, watching the petals fall around him. Maybe Peach Blossom was right. Maybe healing didn't always come with a fight. Maybe it came with something quieter, something gentler.

For the first time in a long time, Dark Cacao didn't feel alone in his kingdom.
