Summary
“I hate you,” Chuuya mutters angrily, his voice almost shrieking at the end. His eyes roam over Dazai’s face, not finding a spot where to stop.
He wonders how he looks, all red and beaten. He wonders if Chuuya likes his work. He has to. He used to.
“No, you don’t,” Dazai calls the bluff. There’s a rasp in his voice that he expects, but there’s also a desperation he didn’t think would be there.
Chuuya huffs a curt, rough sound, his eyes finally settling on Dazai’s lips. Not eyes, he thinks to himself. Perhaps some things did change over these years. His hand slides from the abused cheek, opening the skin for the coolness of the air. It slips down and settles at the base of Dazai’s neck.
Then comes gentleness. Another thing that he didn’t expect. He doesn’t squeeze, just holds it there, and then—
“No, I don’t,” Chuuya whispers back, and that’s when his eyes land back on Dazai’s.

Chuuya is furious that Dazai went to meet Fyodor again and nearly died in the process. He’s determined to make it clear that he’s the one to kill Dazai.
