Chapter 1: A woman?

Chapter Text

”Ready…”

“ACTION!”

”What is wrong with you… I trusted you to not go out with her but you keep on doing this!” Park Hee-Yun, Myoui Mina’s character shouts.

Inside the dimly lit bedroom holds a man and a woman soon to be wed in a few months but, Oh Dong-Hwa, Kunpimook Bhuwakul’s character is a complete jerk that thinks otherwise.

He edges closer to Heeyun and caresses her face with a solemn smile. “Baby, it was simply a mistake. I was peer pressured. You know me, right?

His eyebrows crease and his eyes hold a need for understanding. Heeyun gazes at Donghwa's face with exasperation.

She moves back from his touch and pulls her hand up to bring a slap to his face.

”I think I’ve heard those words enough times to know who you are, Donghwa.” Heeyun's words are cold as she looks back at the man frozen at the harsh contact. His cheek shone red.

”Please pack your things. I want to see you gone by tomorrow morning or I’ll call Daniel to sell all your things.” Heeyun storms out of their shared room without sparing Donghwa a second glance.

And– Cut!

Bambam exhales loudly on the set while rubbing his cheek. “Mina, why’d you hit so hard!” He whines, calling out to his co-actress.

Mina walks off the set and smiles apologetically to the actor. “No hard feelings, remember?” She laughs lightly and heads to the director

“Mina-ssi!” Great work as always, nice way to finish off the episode.” The director applauds and some members of the backstage crew follow as well.

Mina hides the grin growing on her face and waves off the praise. “Hey– it wasn’t much…”

The director hums and looks down at the folder he’s holding, his expression lights up.

”Oh! I forgot to mention something very important. The actor that was supposed to appear in the next episodes had to leave due to personal conercens..." His voice trails off, "You’re going to be working with a new co-star who was grateful to take the role.” Mina’s eyes furrowed. “A new actor? What’s his name?”

He sighs and adjusts the papers in his hand with a focused gaze. “So the
actress you will be working with is– umm, I’m pretty sure you’ve heard their name before, Yoo Jeongyeon. The producers want to sort of… turn the plot a bit. She’ll be your next love interest.”

What. A woman?

”You can go talk to your manager for more details at the moment.” He speaks fast and closes  the folder.

She tries to get more information,

”Wait-“

“Your manager, Mina” He cuts her off and walks away to talk to the backstage crew.

_____

“Yoo Jeongyeon, named the nation’s sweetheart for her captivating visuals and welcoming presence…” Mina rolls her eyes as she reads off an article on the said person.

Jihyo snickers as she sips her coffee. Mina and her manager are discussing business matters, and of course, relaxing, in a secluded part of a café.

The actress sighs and glares towards her manager. “You know I have a stigma against models who turned to acting, especially that Minatozaki one… real pain in the ass, Jihyo.”

”Hey– this is different, Jeongyeon is a really close friend of mine and she’s perfect for the role.” Jihyo rebuttals matter-of-factly and Mina can’t help to roll her eyes again at the woman across from her.

”And so was Sana-“

Their mini argument gets interrupted by a sudden presence entering the private part of the café. A young woman wearing a baggy graphic tee covered with a black denim jacket and a pair of round-rimmed glasses emerges through the small curtains and sits quietly at a table in the corner.

Mina takes a quick look at the lady and pointedly looks back at Jihyo. “Who the hell is she?” She mouths the words but she couldn’t care less if the lady could hear them anyway.

A smirk appears on her manager’s face. “Speak of the devil.”

Mina freezes. “Don’t tell me…”

”Jeongyeon!” She waves her hand to usher her closer.

Mina sinks into her seat and allows her hoodie to do the rest. ‘Jeongyeon’ comes into view with a stupid smile. “Hey Jyo,” She turns her attention to the girl across, who’s slumped against her seat and hidden from eye view.

”Say hi Mina…” Jihyo lectures her like a parent and reaches across the table to tug off her hoodie.

A giggle almost escapes Jeongyeon's mouth but it’s choked up when Mina glares in her direction with a slight pout.

”Jeongyeon, Mina, you guys will be co-actors starting next week, so please get accustomed to each other.”
