Kanon took a deep breath, full enough to expand his chest and make his ribs twinge; he was probably going to bruise quite prettily there. The inside of his cheek felt torn, and he poked at it with his tongue.
He turned his head to Kaji, sprawled on the grass beside him, and beamed.
“I can feel Hiragi in all your hits, y’know?”
Kaji scowled, then winced as it pulled his split lip. He looked so pretty, with his hair all ruffled and his cheeks bruised. There was a bloodied welt beginning to rise on his right cheekbone; when Kanon looked at his knuckles, he could see little red smears in the same shape, like they were wearing matching accessories.
“Makes sense, we train together a lot.” Kaji sat up with a groan. “Are you… good now?”
Kanon considered this. It wasn't the first time Kaji had stood in for Hiragi in one of their fights; though he wasn't as powerful as Hiragi, there was something so cute in his determination, in the way he seemed stronger each time they met.
Kanon smiled widely, feeling tingly to his toes. “Really good!”
Eyes widening, Kaji glanced away. His cheeks went visibly pink even under the mottled flush of early bruises, and Kanon watched with interest as Kaji fished a lollipop from his pocket, crinkling the wrapper in his hand.
The lollipop was a deep, delicious red, and glinted in the sunshine. Kanon liked it immediately.
“You eat those a lot,” he said, shuffling closer, eyes fixed on the lollipop and the blurry sight of Kaji’s mouth behind it. “Are they good?”
Kaji pursed his lips, and winced again. It was hard to keep looking at the lollipop when Kaji’s mouth was right there, puffy and swollen, the split shining red enough to match the lollipop.
“Yeah, I like them.”
Dreamily, Kanon shifted so he was kneeling, knees pressed against the side of Kaji’s thigh. He reached for the hand with the lollipop, and Kaji didn’t resist.
“Looks delicious—I wanna try!”
He pulled Kaji’s hand to his own mouth, brushed his lips over cracked and bloody knuckles with a shiver. Then he took the lollipop and leaned in close, beaming at the way Kaji’s pupils dilated; whether it was fear or lust or something else entirely, it really was so cute.
Kanon felt his own mouth watering, his lips parting. “Open wide,” he sang, and felt a thrill down his spine when Kaji did.
The red of the lollipop gleamed as he pressed it to Kaji’s wounded bottom lip, inducing a hiss of pain that tightened Kaji’s eyes and made his nose wrinkle. Kanon was breathless, gazing wide-eyed at the sight of glossy sugar-red against fresh blood and swollen skin.
Before Kaji could protest, Kanon leaned in and licked full across the lollipop and Kaji’s lips both. He exhaled shakily, delighted. It was sweet, artificial cherry and the familiar metallic tang of blood, and something more subtle than could only be Kaji himself.
“Oh,” Kanon breathed. “Yummy!”
He pushed the lollipop into Kaji's mouth, giggling when he choked a little, and leaned in to lick him again.
“Hey—” Kaji protested in a mumble. “If you're gonna do it, do it properly.”
Kanon only had a moment to consider what that meant before Kaji curled a fist into his hair and pulled him into a kiss. Lollipop pressed between them, Kaji licked messily into Banjo's mouth. It was so much more intense like this; the cherry, the blood, the way the lollipop stick dug into Banjo's teeth.
Banjo moaned; it was perfect.
