August 2025
Getting married just 5 months after starting dating was not something Rio would ever imagine to happen to her, but then again, she and Agatha had been somehow together since they were in their 20s.
They had compromised with her moms to get married at the register office and have a wedding reception at her mom studio later that same day. Neither of them wanted a big ceremony so they were more than happy to have just their closest friends and family with them.
Now, just one day before their wedding, they somehow got tricked by Rosa and Alex into a surprise dinner party with her moms, Ali, Jen, Sophie and Melina. They had called them into O Galpão with the excuse they had an emergency with the decoration for the next day, but when they got there, her mom’s studio already looked perfect for the party.
Their siblings had taken them to the roof deck where they had prepared everything for their intimate dinner. Even though it was still summer, the night was amazing for that setting with a cool breeze that was perfect for them to eat outside.
“You guys are unbelievable,” Agatha exclaimed next to her.
She was watching everything in awe as the other got up to greet them.
“Since you're not doing a real ceremony, we decided to turn the rehearsal dinner into our own pre-wedding party,” Rosa explains.
“This looks perfect, guys,” Rio says, blinking fast to try to hide the tears that were threatening to fall from her eyes.
Agatha seems to sense it though, because even without looking at her, she squeezes Rio's hand.
“Come on, girls, let's get this dinner started,” her mom says, pulling them to the head of the table.
“I can't believe you guys are going to be officially married tomorrow, I feel like you’ve been married for so long,” Alice teases.
“I actually am a bit afraid of it, we suffered enough in these past months since you two got your shit together,” Jen complains.
“Hey, we're not that bad,” Agatha says.
“Not that bad? I caught you two making out in my kitchen!” Alex adds, causing the rest of the table laugh.
“You’re so dramatic, we were not making out, I was just kissing my fiancé,” Rio says.
“Okay, overall I would agree that the Harkness siblings have a tendency to exaggerate everything, but I saw you lifting Agatha up the counter,” Melina points out.
“Melina, you shouldn't even be there in the first place,” Rio feigns annoyance, causing Agatha to snort beside her.
After they came back from their vacation, Alex had invited them over for a triple date, so they could meet Rosa’s new girlfriend Sophie and his secret girlfriend that they haven't even heard the name before.
But Rio understood pretty soon why he was keeping it a secret, after all she was not expecting to get there and finding out Alex was be dating one of Agatha’s exes from when she was in grad school.
Agatha was surprisingly chill about the whole situation, thinking that the whole thing was hilarious. Meanwhile Rio couldn't help but to be pissed at Alex for bringing back to their lives the woman that she was insanely jealous of at the time.
“We’ve been through this, I always knew I've never had a chance with Agatha. I'm pretty sure she was in love with you when we dated,” Melina says and that somehow makes Rio feel a little better.
“I think it's cute that they are living their honeymoon phase now, 20 years later,” Sophie butts in and Rio can see her sister fondly looking at her girlfriend.
“I particularly don't think this is going to be just a phase,” Agatha says, squeezing Rio's hand.
Their friends groan, but when Rio looks away from her fiancé, she sees her mothers’ knowing look. As their dinner progresses and everyone gets drunker, they start reminiscing about the couple over the years.
“I still remember when I met Agatha for the first time, Rio had sworn there was nothing going on between them, but they literally forgot we existed the moment they met each other at the party,” Alice says, making everyone laugh.
October 2004
Alice was surprised Rio had agreed to come with her to a halloween party. Neither of them have been into partying, since they met at the school newspaper and became friends they had stuck to small house parties and eating together every now and then.
So when Alice suggested the party because she wanted to take her mind off an assignment and Rio jumped into the idea, Alice thought it was suspicious, but she was trying not to think too much of it.
“Agatha said she is meeting us there,” Rio absentmindedly says.
“So, what is the deal with this Agatha chick, are you two dating or something?”
That seems to get Rio’s attention, because she looks back at Alice with a panicked expression.
“It's nothing like that, Agatha is just a friend,” she's quick to explain, but Alice looks at her suspiciously.
“A friend? She's the only thing you talk about, you two have basically been going on dates for weeks and don't think I forgot how you said you've met the love of your life the night you've met,” Alice points out.
“I was kidding and they were not dates, we just hang out to study together, sometimes she helps me with my project,”
“Sure, whatever you say,” Alice decides not to push it for now.
Just as Rio had said, Agatha was waiting for them at the front of the house. The woman was nothing like Alice was expecting, but she understood why Rio would be into her. She commanded attention and her witty manner was unintentionally funny.
“Oh, Jen is finally here,” Agatha announced, waving at someone by the door a few minutes later.
Alice looked at Rio confused, she hadn't mentioned anyone else, but when the woman joins them and promptly starts to bicker with Agatha about not waiting for her outside, Alice sees herself at a loss of words.
“Hi, i’m Jen, Agatha's only friend,” the woman says and Alice vaguely registers Agatha biting back the comment, but she is too focused on Jen’s beautiful smile.
Alice tries to play it cool, but she feels Rio glaring at her from where she is next to Agatha now.
“I’m Rio and this is my friend Ali,” her friend says when Alice realizes she was unable to form words.
“Oh, you're in the arts department too?” Jen promptly asks.
“No, I’m majoring in journalism, I’ve met Rio because of the paper,” Alice explains.
She is not sure at what point Rio and Agatha had left them alone, but Alice was happy to spend the night getting to know Jen.
“Do you think they will ever realize they are in love with each other?” Jen asks later that night when they see both of their friends on a corner, completely unaware of the havoc around them, lost in their own world.
“I hope so, otherwise we are up for a long ride,” Alice admits, making Jen laugh.
“I think it will be fun to have you by my side on this one,” Jen says and Alice is not sure if she meant to sound like she was flirting, but that made her heart skip a beat.
“To wherever these losers take us then,” Alice said, bringing her red cup up.
Jen smiles, bringing her own cup next to Alice’ for a toast.
June 2005
Rosa was excited to have her sister back for a week, even if she had to share her with her supposedly new best friend.
She had been moping around for weeks since her sister had told she was staying at school during the summer because she wanted to work on a project there, but since Agatha was moving to New York soon, Rio had decided to come home to help her out with the apartment hunting.
“What time are they coming?” Rosa impatiently asks.
“Elas já devem estar chegando, meu bem,” her mãe replied from where she was reading not paying much attention to Rosa’s anxious demeanor.
“Is mom going to pick them up?”
“No, your mom is stuck at work, but they're taking a cab and we will all have dinner together later,”
Rosa tries to distract herself by texting her friends, while she waits, but when the door opens and she hears her sister laugh coming from the hall she practically runs there.
“Oi pirralha, tava com saudade de mim?” her sister says, pulling her into a bear hug.
Rosa groans, but hugs her sister back anyway.
“Of course I missed you,” she begrudgingly says.
When they pull apart, Rosa finally gets a look at the other woman there. Agatha was nothing like she was expecting, she was smaller than both Rosa and her sister, but the way she stood made her look taller somehow. When she pulled up her sunglasses, Rosa was met with the most beautiful blue eyes she had ever seen.
“Hey kid, I’m Agatha,” she said, waving at her and breaking Rosa out of her trance.
“Agatha, this is my sister Rosa,” Rio said after Rosa failed to reply.
“Oi meninas, why are you hanging on the foyer?” her mom said from behind her and all three of them turned to look at her. “I made some iced tea and pão de queijo for you, filhota. Leave the bags there, you can take it to your room later,”
Their mom walks back, probably to get the dinner table ready for their lanche da tarde and Rosa stays back a little, watching her sister bicker with Agatha.
“Damn, you should have told me your mom was hot, I would have worn something better,” Agatha teases and Rosa hears her sister groan before pushing Agatha's shoulder.
“You're so annoying, don't talk about my mom like that,” Rio said, but Agatha had just laughed, clearly not bothered by her sister's reaction.
“Can your other mom fight though?” Agatha taunts even more.
“Agatha, I swear to god i will kick you out if you don't shut up,”
“Aw baby, are you jealous?” Agatha said with a cheeky grin.
“That's it, i’m kicking you out,”
Rosa saw her sister make a move to get Agatha's bag and open the door, but Agatha pulled her by the waist before she could do anything. She was laughing at the whole thing, clearly endeared by Rio’s antics. Rosa couldn't look away.
“Rosa, help me, your sister is being an awful host here,” Agatha said and Rosa could see her sister rolling her eyes from where she was still in Agatha's embrace.
“Nice try, but I heard what you said and I will have to side with my sister here,” Rosa tried to sound mad, but she was smiling too much for either of them to believe it.
“You Vidal girls are so sensitive, I will have to try my luck befriend Miss Calderu if your mom is like this too,” Agatha said, finally letting go of Rio.
“I don't think my mom would be happy if you tried to call her wife hot, though,” Rosa points out.
“You're right, cutie, better behave them,” Agatha said, winking at her and Rosa could feel her heart beating fast.
“Let's go before Dona Perséfone gets mad,” Rio says, shoving both of them in the direction of the dinner room.
Later that day, Rosa was getting ready for bed when she was startled by Agatha getting inside of the bathroom.
“Ops, sorry, cutie. Your sister told me I could use this bathroom while she was showering on the other one,” Agatha was quick to apologize and Rosa tried to ignore the way the pet name made her feel.
“No, it’s okay. I just finished here, you can have it,” Rosa dismissed.
“Thanks and sorry for accidentally forcing your sister into your room, she insisted I should have hers,” Agatha had said and the way she smiled was so contagious Rosa couldn't help but smile back.
“It's okay, you're our guest,” Rosa said. “Besides, now you don't have to deal with my sister’s cuddles,”
“Oh, I know, she also loves to steal my sheets at night,” Agatha rolls her eyes and Rosa looks at her confused.
Have they been sleeping together?
Agatha seems to catch up with what she said. “I mean, sometimes we have sleepovers when we're stuck studying or watching movies until late at night”
“It's okay if you two are fucking, I’m clearly not homophobic,” Rosa says with a shrug.
Agatha looks at her with her mouth open. Probably not sure what to say next.
“Goodnight, Agatha,” Rosa says before leaving the woman there.
When Rosa gets to her room, her sister has already passed out on her bed. She wondered if Rio would tell her about their relationship or if she will keep pretending there is nothing going on between them.
December 2009
Alex rushed his way through the stairs to get to his sister’s apartment. Mentally cursing her stubborn ass for still living in an old building with no elevator. When he finally gets to the 4th floor and rings the doorbell, he feels himself getting even more anxious, as he waits.
“Hey sorry, I was checking on your sister,” Rio says when she finally opens the door.
“How is she?” he anxiously asks.
“She is fine, she fell asleep as soon as we got back from the hospital, the meds were kicking off,” Alex takes one look at her and understands how she must be feeling.
He pulls her into a hug, feeling her relax a little in his embrace. When they part, he lets her lead him into the living room.
“So what the hell happened?”
“I don't know, Lex, it was all so fast, one minute we were cooking and laughing together and the next thing it was like a scene from a horror movie,” Rio says with a flinch.
Alex holds her hand, squeezing it. In the past four years since Rio had become his sister's best friend, he caught on to some things about her and he knows for a fact she hates even the sight of blood, so the whole thing must have been even more stressful for her.
“You know how she is, she kept saying it was nothing, but the cut was clearly deep, so I convinced her to let me take her to the hospital and thank god I did because they had to give her some stitches,” Rio explains.
And Alex is not surprised at all, he knows his sister well enough to understand how she hates depending on others. With the way they were raised, they both learned too early how to fend for themselves and Alex had tried to be there for Agatha, but she always had been like that.
“You did good, Rio,” he says, squeezing her hand again. “I’m happy Agatha has someone she can count on, even more that it's you. You two make a great team and I know you are taking care of each other,”
He sees the way Rio bites her wavering lips, tears already forming on her eyes. He pulls her into a hug again, feeling her let out a heavy breath before her tears stained his shirt.
“Hey, it's okay, she's okay now, in a few hours she will be annoying you instead of asking for help,” Alex says and he hears Rio chuckle.
After a few minutes, Rio gets a little more calm and pulls herself away from his embrace, to look directly at him.
“I’m sorry for making you comfort me when it was your sister who got injured,” Rio says with a pout. “I know how it feels to have your younger sister get hurt,”
“You don't need to feel sorry for that, you were scared and I know you must have tried to be brave for Agatha, so it's okay if your body is catching up with your actual feeling now,” He says, smiling at her.
“The doctor said she was lucky the cut was not that deep, that she could have damaged her tendon or something,” Rio explains.
“It's good that it was nothing big, you did the right thing taking her to the hospital and calling me here, I know she did not want you to,” he says and Rio snorts.
“Yeah, she insisted I shouldn't tell you, but if the situation was reversed I would want someone to call me if anything happened to Rosa,” Rio clarifies.
“Thank you for calling me and for making sure she's okay. Are you staying here?” He asks.
“Yeah, I think I will stay here until she is fully recovered,” she says with a shrug.
Rio talks like it's not a big deal, but Alex knows the magazine she's working on is on the other side of the city. The commuting will be hell for her if she stays with his sister.
He can't help but catch himself thinking about the nature of their relationship again. Agatha had told him several times that there is nothing going on between them, but every single time he gets that feeling of something off about it.
He had met Agatha friends over the years, there weren't a lot of them and most didn't stick around. And even the ones who did, like Jen and Alice, were nowhere close to the way Agatha was with Rio, but he guesses they will get there on their own time.
August 2015
“Agatha honey, can you help me bring the salad to the table?” Lilia had asked when she saw Agatha entering the kitchen.
“Of course, is there anything else you want me to bring outside?” Agatha promptly asked.
“No honey, just this is fine,” Lilia said. “Have you seen any of my daughters?”
“I saw Ro heading out a few minutes ago, but I don't know where Rio is, I haven't seen her since she left to the beach with Stacey earlier,” Lilia could see the disdain on Agatha's voice as she mentioned Rio’s girlfriend name.
Lilia bit her lip, trying not to smile. These kids.
“Well, they are probably coming back soon,” Lilia said, but Agatha seemed distracted. “Is your brother joining us this weekend?”
“Oh no, he said he had to stay in the city for a meeting or something,” Agatha explained.
“That's a bummer, but I’m glad you girls could join us,” Lilia said.
Perséfone had insisted they all take the weekend off to spend some time together at their summer house in the Hamptons and Lilia was hoping to get the whole family together and that included the Harkness too.
In the past 10 years, both of them had grown fond of the siblings. Agatha had been a constant presence in their home, but slowly they got to meet her older brother and Lilia couldn't help but feel charmed by him too.
Behind the first impression of them, polar opposite when it came to personality, they started to understand the impact their mother left on them. Lilia admired the way Alex had made sure to take care of Agatha as soon as he got the chance to take her out of her house. The boy had a heart of gold and Lilia felt protective about both of them.
Agatha left her in the kitchen, going over to the pool area where Perséfone was organizing their lunch at the big table outside. Lilia watched through the glass sliding door as Agatha changed her whole demeanor from playful to almost angry when Rio entered the back door with Stacey.
When Lilia joined them outside, Agatha had taken a seat next to Rosa, opposed to Rio and Stacey. Lilia went to where her wife was seated at one of the heads of the table, giving her a peck before taking a seat at the other end of the table.
“How was the beach, girls?” Lilia asked.
“Amazing, can't believe you guys are just a walk away from the beach,” Stacey had said.
“Yeah, Persie missed living in front of the beach, so we tried to find something close by to hang out during the summer when we can't visit our family in Brazil,” Lilia explained.
“Oh, I didn't know you have family in Brazil,” Stacey said and Lilia could hear Agatha snorting next to her.
“I’m sure I told you my mom is Brazilian,” Rio tried to emend.
“And i’m pretty sure i would have remembered that, honey,” the girl had said and Lilia did not like the condescending tone she was using.
“You saw them talking in Portuguese several times since we got here,” Agatha points out.
“I thought it was just Spanish,” Stacey said with a shrug.
Lilia looked at her wife at the other side of the table, gripping her sangria glass a bit too tight.
“Que garota burra,” Agatha whispered to Rosa, but if it was loud enough for Lilia to hear, she was sure Rio could hear it too.
She sees her daughter glaring at Agatha and tries hard not to laugh when Agatha defiantly looks back at her. Rio’s girlfriend seems completely unaware of what is going on.
“So Stacey, what do you do for a living?” Perséfone attempts to get the conversation going again.
“I have a lifestyle blog,” she said.
Lilia has to bite her lip not to laugh at the way Agatha was not even trying to hide her irritation by rolling her eyes.
The rest of the lunch goes pretty much like that, Stacey doesn't seem to catch on to the tension between Agatha and Rio, Rosa is having a little too much fun with the whole thing and Lilia is pretty sure she is going to hear a lot from her wife later.
After lunch, Stacey informs them she needs a nap while Agatha offers to do the dishes, quickly moving back to the kitchen. Lilia sees Rio following right behind her.
The three of them that are left at the table watch through the glass door as they argue in the kitchen. They can't hear what they are saying, but Lilia knows them enough to understand.
“Should we intervene?” Rosa asked.
“Não filhota, you know how they are, just give them time,” Perséfone said, before giving Lilia a knowing look.
Neither of them were surprised when they received a text from Rio a couple of weeks later informing she was no longer dating Stacey.
January 2022
Jen rushed to the elevator before the door closed.
“Oh, hey guys, what's up?” she said when she realized her best friends were already there.
“Nothing,” Agatha said and Rio chuckled beside her.
Jen looked at them suspiciously. Agatha was holding a cardboard box and they kept looking at each other trying not to laugh
“Are you two high? it's 10 am,”
That seems to tip them over whatever they were doing because Agatha almost trips forward and Rio is quick to help her hold back the box. Jen looked at them confused when she heard what sounded a lot like meowing.
“What the fuck? Are you two trying to sneak in a cat here?” Jen exasperatedly asked.
They shushed her in unison.
“Shut up, you know Mrs. Hart has ears everywhere, she will totally tell on us,” Agatha said through her gritted teeth.
“How the fuck is she gonna know? We are literally inside the elevator and I don't think they can hear us here,” Jen pointed out.
“You never know,” Rio said with a shrug, like they were not literally insane.
“So you two adopted a cat?” She asked.
“Yeah, it was outside in the snow, we couldn't leave it there,” Rio explained.
“And how exactly are you planning to secretly sneak it out again later to take it to the vet?” Jen asked and she could see the two dumbasses realizing their mistake.
“Fuck,” agatha mutters.
“Guess we're going back down,” Rio said before pressing the 0 button.
Jen rolled her eyes as the two of them went back to giggling like idiots. The elevator dinged, announcing they had arrived at her floor.
“Bye, idiots, invite us over to meet your kid later,” Jen said. “and good luck”
“We will text the gc when we're back,” Rio assured before the door closed.
When she got home, her wife was working on their couch.
“You will never believe what dumb and dumber are up to this morning,” she said as a greeting.
Alice sighed before saying. “Please tell me this is about them magically realizing they are dating,”
Jen snorts out a laugh.
“Oh no, but they did just adopt a cat,” Jen said sitting down beside her.
“Are you fucking kidding me? How the hell did they manage to do that before getting together?” Alice asked.
As promised, they receive a text on their gc inviting them over to Agatha's house to meet their cat later that night.
“How the fuck did you guys brought all this here without anyone catching you?” Alice asked when they saw that Agatha's living room had turned into a cat paradise in just a few hours.
“We lied to the building manager saying Alex was using my house to store some things,” Agatha said from where she was sitting with the tuxedo cat on the couch.
“So the cat is staying with Agatha?” Jen asked just in time to see Rio suspiciously getting out of Agatha’s bedroom with her hair wet like she had just taken a shower.
“Oh no, we are sharing custody, I just need to move my plants around because some of them are toxic for cats, but we have a co parenting contract and everything,” she explains before sitting beside Agatha to pet the cat on her lap.
“Of course you are,” Alice had said and Jen is pretty sure her best friends didn't catch the annoyed tone.
“So, what's its name?” Jen asked.
“Dick,” Agatha said, making Rio laugh.
“Why on earth would you name your cat Dick?”
“Well, Dick is short for Emily Dickinson, Rio had suggested the name when we thought it was a girl, but the vet said it's a boy, we decided to shorten it,” Agatha explained.
“You know what, I’m not even gonna try to argue here,” Jen said.
The cat moved so he could fit himself between Agatha and Rio, making both of them coo at him, before sharing a fond look with each other. Jen watched them from the armchair, still not believing that after twenty years, neither of them had realized they were in love with each other.
Alice seemed to be thinking the same thing because she looked at her before nodding at them and shaking her head. Even the cat caught on to it before them.
September 2023
“Hi love, the girls are here,” Lilia said when she entered Perséfone home studio.
Perséfone cleans her paint-covered hands as best as she can with a towel she has hanging there before pulling her wife closer.
“I’m just going to clean up and meet you all there,” She said before pecking her wife's lips.
When Perséfone gets to the dinner room, their daughters are animatedly talking with her wife. She goes over to where each of them are seated to give them a kiss on the top of their heads before sitting next to her wife.
“Agatha couldn't make it?” She asked.
“She’s working late today, but she asked to bring her leftovers,” Rio said, rolling her eyes, but Perséfone could hear the fondness in her voice.
“Não acredito, i made some bolo de cenoura just for her, I will make sure to pack some for you to take for her,” Perséfone told them and she could see her youngest daughter shake her head.
“At this point you spoil Agatha more than us,” Rosa teased.
“Says the most spoiled person in this family,” Rio bites her back and Perséfone looks at her wife as their daughters bickered back and forth.
As their daughter got old and moved out of the house, Perséfone couldn't help but to miss nights like this, a full house with her favorite people. After dinner, they move to the living room for some tea.
Perséfone smiles as she sees her wife getting up and going to her office.
“Agatha’s birthday is coming soon, isn't it?” Perséfone asked, even though she has the date saved on her calendar.
“Oh yeah, it's next week on the 4th of October,” Rio dismissed, too focused on her phone and by the look Rosa was giving her, she was probably talking to Agatha herself.
“Do you two have plans for her birthday? We can have everyone over for lunch on Sunday,” Pérsefone suggests.
Rio looks up from her phone with a smile. “Yeah, I think she would like that, she haven't decided what she wants to do on her actual birthday yet, but I want to surprise her,”
“Really? What have you been planning?” Rosa asked, genuinely curious.
“Nothing much, I’m taking the day off so I’m going to spend the day at her favorite places and I got dinner reservations at that restaurant she's been dying to go, but I still don't know what I’m getting her as a gift though,” Rio explained.
Rosa looks at her sister incredulous before meeting Perséfone’s eyes.
“Well, I guess this might come in handy then,” Lilia said, handing their daughter the purple velvety box Perséfone knew too well.
“What is this?” Rio asked, confused, but took it anyway.
“Open it,” Lilia said.
Perséfone saw the surprised look in both of their daughters. They have seen her wear that ring for years, until she and Lilia renewed their vows a few years ago and she started to use the new ring with her wedding band.
“Mom, I don't get it, why are you giving me this?” Rio asked, panic in her eyes.
“You said you didn't have a gift for Agatha yet, now you have it,” her wife, always the practical type, had explained.
“But this is mamãe’s engagement ring, why would I give this to Agatha? She knows about it,” Rio tried to understand.
Perséfone could see her younger daughter biting her lip not to laugh. Probably catching on what they are implying before her sister.
“Ah meu bem, Agatha had always loved this ring and you know it will be perfect for her too,” Perséfone said.
“I can't take this and I definitely can't give this to Agatha,” Rio had tried to reason with them.
“Why not?” Rosa asked.
“Because she will know,” Rio had refused to look either of them in the eyes or give them any context.
When Rio tried to give her the ring back at the end of the night, Perséfone knew she couldn't take it, it wasn't hers anymore and both of them knew.
“Fica com ele, you don't have to give it to her now, but you might need it someday,” she had said.
Rio looked at her with a conflicted expression, but when Perséfone pulled her into a tight hug, she had said. “Obrigada mãe,”
August 2025
“To be honest I was surprised I didn't hear the news you two had gotten engaged that year and even more surprised when she said she didn't use the ring on the trip either,” Perséfone says, making everyone laugh.
“Me too, she had it on her suitcase and everything,” Rosa adds and Agatha looks at her fiancé confused.
“Were you planning to propose while we were there?” Agatha teases, poking her ribs to make her laugh.
“I wasn't, I didn't even know you liked me, but something compelled me to put it there just in case,” Rio says with a shrug.
“You're unbelievable,” Agatha says, shaking her head.
“But you love me anyways,” Rio says, a smug smile on her face that Agatha is more than happy to kiss it away.
She vaguely registers a groan from the table, but it doesn't matter.
“Te amo, meu sol,” Agatha whispers in her ear. “Can't wait to finally be able to call you my wife,”
“Love you too, minha lua and technically you've been my wife for 6 months now, miss Vidal,” Rio teases, making Agatha fondly roll her eyes at her.
“Oh my god, we will never hear the end of this,” Rosa complains.
“See this is why you have to be careful of what you wish for, you guys have been waiting for this for more than 20 years, we are just giving you what you wanted,” Agatha jokes.
“You're a menace,” Rio whispers when the rest of the table gets distracted.
“Changing your mind, Miss Harkness?” Agatha teases.
“Nah, I’ve never been more certain in my life,” Rio says.
And Agatha is sure she wouldn't have their story any other way either. She kisses her fiancé one last time before turning her attention back to the rest of their family. Happily listening to Rio bicker with their siblings as she absentmindedly traced the scar on the palm of her hand.
