Chapter Text
it was a new town, where you were moving to. actually, it was a whole new country. your move from the UK to tokyo. a drastic change, even for you — but you needed to get away from your deadbeat parents. you were coming home from the airport currently, bag attached to your side like some sort of useless lifeline. it was slung to your shoulders, held tightly with your shaky fingers. you shook slightly as you stepped off the plane and walked inside the airport. screams and cheers were the first things you were met with. reuniting lovers, old friends, distant family — either way, everyone was happy to see everyone. it brought a small smile to your face as you scanned the large room, looking for a specific someone.
“Y/N!” satoru waved a bright sign at you with your name on it, you almost cringed at it before a wave of nostalgia hit you. you practically ran over to him, a sense of familiarity in a place where there was none. ignoring all the stares and murmurs from the crowd as you giggled and ran into his waiting arms. satoru enveloped you comfortingly, you smiled and nuzzled into his shoulder. the familiar hug of your cousin was amazing. “satoru, it’s so nice to see you!” you practically beamed at him as he let go of the hug. you’d never been to japan before but you were starting to think this was going to be a great change. “it’s nice to see you too my favourite cousin!~” he teased as he pat your shoulder and took your bags.
“let’s get you home, huh? seems like you need a rest and a good meal!” he was always so caring, parental almost — trying to make up for the shit parenting you had received all of your life. you nodded with a smile. satoru was sweet, unlike anyone else in your life or family.
he brought you to his sleek, black sports car, hauling your bags in the trunk before jumping into the backseat. “seatbelt! if we get in a crash i am not responsible for you being dumb enough to not wear a seatbelt.” he chastised, it made you chuckle how protective he was of you when he could hardly take care of himself half the time. you buckled your seatbelt carefully, cautious of the expensive looking car. in unison, satoru buckled his and zoomed down the street, taking you completely off guard.
zooming down the street was a breeze for you, it was nice and it took your mind off of the fact you were in a whole new environment for a moment. the city was light from the evening, a beautiful contrast of orange painting the sky. you were mesmerised by this sight and couldn’t take your eyes from the window. you were so used to thunderstorms, rain, hail so to be met with sun was an odd occurrence. you found yourself smiling slightly and satoru noticed.
“like the sun?” you jumped at the sudden voice and giggled. “uh-huh.” you hummed in response before returning your gaze back to the window.
his car kept driving down the street until it stopped at a fancy looking apartment complex. despite satoru being so cocky, you forget he’s rich sometimes. he got out and closed the car door, grabbing your bags from the trunk and opening your door for you.
you got out gingerly and looked around. “wow.. this is super fancy.” satoru smirked at you cockily. “i know, i’m just.. ah- i’m amazing right?!” he boasted proudly while you laughed, he placed a hand over his heart, acting offended as he strode into his apartment complex. both of you entered the large elevator situated in the centre of the room. “our room is on the thirteenth floor.” he stated. it was strange to you, to have someone say that. our? you’d been here for less than two minutes and satoru was acting like you’d been living together for twelve years. he was sweet in that way, making you feel welcomed wherever you go. you smiled at him and waited for your elevator to reach one of the top floors.
eventually, it came to a halt and you both stepped out. as you peered into the hallway to your suspicious were confirmed. not only was satoru rich, your cousin was fucking loaded! he walked confidently into an apartment labelled ‘apartment 13C’ with a golden sign hung up on the top of it. you giggled at the sight of something so silly yet so fancy. “what, don’t like the sign?” he asked you teasingly, putting an arm around your shoulder and looking at the sign like it was a art piece in an expensive gallery. you snickered and he looked at you like you just shot him in the heart before laughing. it was nice to share this bond with someone, especially someone like satoru.
with your bags in hand, he waltzed into the apartment. you walked behind him like a lost puppy, it was dark in the apartment despite a movie playing on what looked like a one hundred and fifty inch television. satoru kicked off his shoes and looked up to the couch.
you followed his gaze and was met with a bunch of people sat on the floor that you confusingly hadn’t noticed before. “guys, seriously?! i told you my cousin was coming today and you still broke in? you’re the worst!” he scolded his friends sitting there, munching on his snacks. he stormed over to a short brunette girl and snatched the snacks out of her hand.
“and you stole my snickers, seriously?!” the brunette rolled her eyes before going back to lean on the front of the couch. she was sat on the floor while having her head on the couch. a slightly taller girl with long black hair cascading down her waist sat next to her. she was truly beautiful and almost had you mesmerised for a moment. satorus girlfriend? you looked up to the couch and saw three tall men sitting there. a tall blonde haired man with bulky glasses on; a smart guy as far as you could tell, but nonetheless, he was cute. next to him, a shorter brown haired boy. he had a baby face yet looked buff. a gym rat potentially? he looked sweet though. next to them was the tallest out of the bunch, you recognised him from some of satorus instagram posts. getou, was it? he had beautiful long black hair, like the girl sitting below him but he had a small bang at the front. he was definitely the strongest out of them all, his muscles busting through his worn out band shirt. his jaw was sculpted and he almost looked angelic, being painted in a blue hue from the television still playing.
the first one to look your way was the brown haired man, giving you a small smile before satoru spoke up with a clap of his hands. “if you’re gonna break in, at least say hi to my amazing cousin you rude people!” he scolded again, he was starting to sound like a high school teacher the way he was berating his friends. soon, they all turned to you. you felt a bit intimidated with all these eyes on you, sizing you up. first, satoru pointed to the blonde man.
“this is nanami kento, he’s slowly growing out his emo phase. you just gotta give him time. he’s still mad he has to wear those bulky glasses.” satoru lowered his voice to a whisper before speaking again. “it makes him look like more of nerd than he already is.” you heard the blonde man scoff which caused you to laugh. satorus finger pointed to the sweet brown boy in the middle of the two men on the couch. “this is yu haibara, absolute sweetie. my total favourite out of these losers and he’ll probably be yours too. him and nanami are attached at the hip but i honestly don’t know why.” in return to satorus introduction, yu gave you a small wave and a smile. you waved back as satoru redirected his attention to the girls on the floor. “the one with a permanent scowl on her face is the lovely iori utahime.” that earned him a middle finger from the black haired girl. he definitely deserved that one, now it was clear that this woman undoubtedly was not satorus girlfriend. “the one next to her is shoko, despite barely being twenty she’s already managed to ruin her lungs and liver. all i’m saying is, if you ever want free booze shokos the place to go, even though you don’t drink.” satoru stated, which earned a giggle from you.
shoko raised a brow, “you don’t drink?” she asked it like it was mind boggling to know someone who doesn’t actively drink. you smiled and shook your head politely. “no, i never have. i don’t think i ever will.” she looked baffled. “why not?” you looked away and plastered on a fake smile before answering. “my-“ you were cut off by satoru, who knew the reason. it was clear he knew you were getting uncomfortable and decided to stop the conversation there, completely changing the subject. he slumped next to the black haired man and perked up. “oh yeah, this is getou. the one i was telling you about?” satoru looked at you and you nodded. “it’s nice to meet you all.” they all nodded and some exchanged some pleasantries with you before turning back to the movie. satoru patted the small space in between him and haibara. you stepped over all the cushions and blankets and placed yourself there.
you were indulged in the movie for a while, not even knowing what it was about but getting interested anyway. all you knew was that there were two undercover cops pretending to be white women. it was funny and you could hear satoru giggling next to you the whole time.
suddenly, the brunette spoke up. “can we order food or something? i’m starvinggg.” she complained, honestly, you were starting to like shoko. she was blunt and honest, you liked those qualities in people. you admired people who could just speak their mind. satoru groaned and looked down at her. “fine” that simple word made every one of his friends park up, listing off different fast food places they could order from. “we should totally get mcdonald’s!” “no way, chinese food on top!” “there’s a new indian place across the street!” you laughed at their excited spewing of places. the only one who wasn’t listing off places was nanami who was looking at you intently. you looked back at him with a smile which made him turn his head with a huff. did you do something? you were confused but decided to turn back to gojo who looked bombarded with all these words being thrown at him.
“okay, okay! quit it! i know i’m rich but i’m not getting everyone a different meal from a different place, jeez! you guys are some picky bastards.” he turned to you and slung an arm around your shoulder, shaking you around slightly. “since my cousin just came here, she should choose instead of all you greedy motherfuckers.” he opened his phone and gave it to you. “order what you want and then pass the phone around. whatever she gets you guys will have to deal with.” you took his phone sheepishly and looked through the places. despite this task being menial you felt some pressure to choose right. was there even a right place? you didn’t order food much so you just clicked on a thai place. you ordered some pad thai and passed the phone to satoru. he nodded at your choice. “nice! i haven’t had thai in ages!” he ordered and passed the phone to getou.
getou looked at the phone and scrolled through the food choices, sticking his tongue out slightly. “damn suguru, it’s just food- no need to get your dick hard.” getou snapped his head to look at gojo with a glare. satoru just laughed as suguru hit him upside the head. “shut the hell up, why you always gotta make things so weird?” satoru laughed again as getou ordered and passed the phone around the rest of the group. after they finished ordering, nanami passed the phone back to satoru. shoko spoke up and looked at you. “nice choice, at least it wasn’t a candy store like what satoru picks every fucking time.” you laughed and shoko joined in.
“satoru, are you seriously still obsessed with sweets?” satoru looked at you with a smirk. “obviously, oh yeah- did you bring that candy i asked for?” you looked over to your bags and nodded. you stepped over the pillows and blankets strewn out across the floor again. “i didn’t know how much you wanted so i bought a bunch.” you brought out a big bag of sweets that gojos eyes practically popped out of his head at. “holy shit, that’s huge!” he jumped over the back of the couch and stared at you in awe. “you’re an angel Y/N, i swear!” he took the bag from you and jumped back over the couch. it definitely would’ve fallen over if getou, nanami and haibara weren’t sitting on it.
“shoko, move out of the way.” gojo said as he nudged shoko. “what? for your fat ass to dump all the damn sweets on the floor? hell no!” she stayed seated on the floor as you climbed back onto the couch, sitting next to gojo again and engaging in a small conversation with yu. gojo nudged shoko again. “oh my god, cmon! i wanna see what’s in here!” shoko peered into the bag and raised a brow at the abundance you brought. “fine.” she shuffled out of the way, closer to utahime, bringing the blanket and pillow with her. gojo tipped the bag upside down and dumped the colourful sweets onto the hardwood.
getou jumped at the sudden noise and looked down at the floor. “how many sweets do you need?!” he asked rhetorically as he looked at the floor. he was dumbfounded at the amount satoru had just dumped on the floor. “as many as my kind cousin bought me!~” he started grabbing at sweets on the floor. “haribows?! sweet!” he grabbed at the huge packet of haribows, ripping it open and causing them to fly everywhere. “oops..” about fifty hit your face and getou was also directly hit by a bunch. “satoru, i swear to god!” suguru yelled as he grabbed satoru by the hair. satoru yelped as he picked a sweet from sugurus shirt. “eughhh.. it tastes like man juice now.” suguru looked at him with his eyes squinted and his brows furrowed. “you’re a man yourself, dickhead! and maybe if you didn’t want them to taste like ‘man juice’ you shouldn’t have flung them everywhere!” suguru leaned back against the couch exasperated as you tried to pick the sweets out of your hair. “here, let me help.” haibara said as he started helping you pick the sweets from the back. they were slightly sticky from the flight and the heat which made you cringe. you loved satoru but when he did shit like this, you seriously wanted to punch him.
suddenly, the door bell rung and utahime got up. the food, probably. she walked to the door and opened it, standing face to face with a delivery boy. she took the bags from him and thanked him. she walked back into the living room and set the bag down on the dining table. “are you coming or not?!” she said aggressively, mostly directed in satorus way. everyone walked over to the dining table and took a seat, you gingerly took one next to satoru as they passed out the food, you getting your pad thai within a matter of seconds. you thanked suguru as he handed you your food and he gave you a small smile. that was the first interaction you’d had with suguru. luckily, he wasn’t as mean as satoru described — actually, that’s probably because satoru is extremely annoying.
everyone started eating and you nibbled on your food, still a bit jet lagged from your flight but you were okay to eat, it had been a few hours anyway. midway through chewing satoru exclaimed. “oh yeah, and because i paid for your ridiculously expensive food — you guys have to help Y/N unpack and put her furniture together!~” you looked at him confused. “i can put my furniture together satoru, i’m not a child.” you looked at him with a slight glare, you didn’t want to make these people hate you by making them do your dirty work. yu spoke up with a smile. “don’t worry! i’ll help with your furniture, it’s no problem, really!” you looked at him with a smile. “you don’t have to, but thank you.” then, suguru spoke up. “yeah, i’ll help too. the girls can help you unpack your clothes and stuff.” shoko looked at you with a grin, seemingly excited to look through your wardrobe. “well if you all don’t mind, that would be a huge help.”
after eating, you all went to your room to start unpacking and building. suguru and yu were on the floor, looking through the instructions of your bed building process. suguru looked like he was about to have a stroke. “oh fuck it, can we just build it without instructions?! this shit is written in gibberish or something!” yu laughed and looked at him. “that’s because you’re reading the arabic side.” suguru looked skeptically at the instructions before turning red. “yeah? well- there’s.. i didn’t know. shut up.”
you heard shoko snicker as she began looking through your clothes. you turned your gaze away from suguru and yu to shoko and utahime. shoko held up a short black dress with a boob window. “skimpy!” she teased, you turned bright red and put your head in your hands. “i didn’t even know i packed that..” she inspected the dress and felt the material, seeming impressed by your choices. “despite kinda being a slut, these outfits are actually amazing. what size are you?” an odd question, you thought. but you told her anyway. she looked at you like she just opened a christmas present. “same size huh? i’m borrowing all of this one day, i swear.” it seemed like you and shoko were about to come quick friends. utahime was scanning through your clothes silently.
you engaged in small talk with shoko while getou and yu set up your bed and nightstands. utahime joined in on the conversations she found interesting but for the most part she just searched through your clothes. suguru stood up and brushed himself off. “all done.” he collapsed on your newly made bed and ran his fingers over this mattress. “this is comfy as hell, im totally stealing this when you aren’t here.” yu laughed at his antics as he stood as well. “don’t break her bed before she even gets to lie in it suguru!” he scolded as he pulled him off. suguru groaned and got up. “i’m not as fat as satoru. don’t worry, i won’t break it.” you giggled at the insult as you hung up your last dress.
“thank you guys, you helped a bunch.” you turned to shoko and utahime with a smile. “you guys can borrow whatever you want, take as a form of my gratitude.” shokos eyes lit up as she scurried to your closet, raking through the abundance of clothes hanging up there. utahime followed her with a smile and looked through them as well. you turned to the boys with a smile. “anything i can do for you guys?” yu shook his head and suguru looked like he was pondering something. “you gotta let me sleep in this bed sometime soon.” he chuckled, you laughed with him and nodded. “ah, i’ll have to think about it.” you sat on the bed and ran your hands over the mattress. “it is comfy, isn’t it?” you and suguru laughed before shoko spoke.
“i’m taking this for the party.” she grabbed a long, deep red dress and slung it over her shoulder. she picked out a similar dress in black. “‘hime, babe, you’d look so good in this.” babe?! oh- so they were.. together? they were lesbians? not that you had a problem with that, it’s just satoru had never told you about them. you would’ve thought he’d brag about having gay friends, saying something like: ‘how can i be homophobic? i have gay friends!’ sounds just like him, actually.
utahime took the dress and nodded. “can we take these?” utahime asked politely. “of course!” you exclaimed as the girls took the dresses. you felt a bit more comfortable being here since they were all so nice. yu came over to you and put a hand on your shoulder, slipping you a piece of paper. “this is my number, i’ll add you to the group chat when i’m home so we can all talk!”you nodded and took the paper, thanking him. yu smiled and walked out of your room, suguru trailing close behind him. shoko and utahime waved a quick goodbye before leaving and closing your door behind them.
this wasn’t so bad, it was proving to be much better than your life at home quickly.
