Chapter Text
‘Children, what do you wish to be when you are all grown up?’ Miss Lee asked her class of kindergarten students.
‘A doctor! A police officer! A teacher like Miss Lee!’ was the responses by the children. The children had big dreams.
‘A princess!’ was said by little Jinnie. As she turned her head to the left where he was seated, Seokjin was standing up with his arms above his head. He was looking at his teacher with sparkling eyes and seemed to have a lot of hope. Miss Lee chuckled at how cute Seokjin is behaving and decided not to go against what he wanted to be because who would want to reject a cute kid? Seokjin was smiling brightly as he took his teacher’s response as his dream approved.
Suddenly, the girl sitting beside Seokjin stood up and told him that boys can only be princes and princesses are meant for girls which made Seokjin lose his smile. He sat back quietly and felt something placed on top of his head. He looked up to see Jungkook looking down at him. Jungkook squat down to be at Seokjin’s eye level. He took Seokjin’s little soft hands that were a bit bigger than his own causing Seokjin to blush as he thought Jungkook looked cool.
‘I’ll be your prince and you’ll be my princess,’ the younger boy said while fixing the fake tiara which was slipping off Seokjin’s head. It didn’t take long for Seokjin to bring up a smile again.
‘We’ll be your knights in shiny armor!’ five other kids stood up. Jungkook and Seokjin gave their attention to their friends. Taehyung and Hoseok were excitedly jumping at the idea while Jimin, Yoongi and Namjoon were punching the air with their small fist to prove that they are knight materials.
‘We can built a kingdom and live happily ever after like the ones in the stories!’ Taehyung shouted across the class.
‘Yeah! We will destroy all dragons to protect the princess with our swords!’ Namjoon said while slashing the air with his invisible sword.
Miss Lee laughed and stood up to help Jimin up because Namjoon accidentally bang Jimin down while he was invisible-fighting the imaginary dragon. Namjoon apologized with his head hanging down because he felt guilty for being too rough.
‘I’m sorry, Jiminie. I should have looked around my surrounding.’
‘It’s okay Namjoon-hyung, I’m strong and won’t be defeated by just a light push!’ Jimin showed his small muscle to Namjoon which made the older among the two shouted a ‘Wow! Jiminie has muscles!’
The rest of the children finished the class with telling what they wish to be when they grow up. Jungkook felt his stomach flipping over and over again when he turned to see Seokjin smiling brightly at him with tint of pink coloring his cheeks. He has not let go of Seokjin’s hands and don’t intend to let go. Seokjin's hands were nice to hold, it was soft and warm. Although Jungkook only lived on earth for 3 full years and this is his 4th year, he knows what does love mean. Loving means how he felt towards his parents, his pet dog, his friends, himself and most importantly Seokjin. His parents had always told him about how it is like to fall in love and how much his parents love him. It was a nice but not explainable feeling. His level of understanding love is still basic as expected of a 4 year old kid.
He wasn't ready to see Seokjin leaving the kindergarten for elementary school. He loves his friends but Seokjin was another story. Their age difference wasn't big but it is a big deal to little Jungkook, 2 is a plural number and plural means a lot. He has to wait for another 2 years to see his hyung again. He is not even sure will he enter the same elementary school as his hyung but he promised himself a must to see his hyung again.
