Our Pain.

Summary:

A world in which you can feel the physical pain of your soulmate. Eddie Diaz and Evan Buckley have it rough, neither of them can seem to go long without another injury and as it seems neither can their soulmate.

Notes:

Okay kinda rushed but I really want to write a buddie fic before it goes canon and I can feel its going canon like super soon so I had to. Also the ages in this are so messed up but blame the 911 writers for not having a normal timeline not me. Also not American and never been to America so sorry if streets and stuff are messed up later on.

Chapter 1: Connected

Chapter Text

October 3rd 1995

10:04PM Pennsylvania

"Mommy! Mommy!" 3 year old Evan's voice can be heard from down the hall a quiet sob in the silence of the night. It had been going on for quite some time now and Maddie had grew tired of hearing the weeping echoing through the house the cries bouncing off the dark walls. She slid out her bed and slid on her favourite pink bunny slippers being careful not to make a noise as she carefully moved down the hall towards Evan's bedroom. As she opened the door her eyes moved to the small heap resting on the bed in the middle of the room. Evan looked up from his bed as he heard the door creak open, a blanket draped over his body and a small bear clutched close to his chest.

"Evan?" Maddie said as she slid into the room her feet scraping across the wooden floor, closing the door behind her quietly. "What's wrong?" She said as she moved slowly across to his bed sitting down next to where he lay.

"My head hurts" Evan said in a small voice which made Maddie's chest want to crack open and let him crawl inside.

"Did you hit it?" Maddie says as she leans down running a hand through his short blond curls. Her thumbs wiping the tears of his soft cheeks. Evan shook his head as he sat up leaning over to wrap his arms around Maddie, she held him tightly to her chest rubbing his back as she spoke softly in his ear. "What does it feel like?" She said stroking her hand through his hair gently.

"Like someone hurt me" Evan said through a sob, his voice filled with pain. "Hurt me really bad."

Maddie held him tight as she explained the reason for his pain, that somewhere out there in the big world, there was someone perfect for him. Someone who he would connect with him on a completely different level that would understand him in a way no other human being could. His soulmate. She explained to him that since they shared such a special bond there was an emotional connection between then that caused him to feel the pain of his soulmate. She told him that one day if he was lucky enough he would get to meet them and he could hold them and heal them and ket them forget all the pain the ever felt.

"Why are they so sore ?" Evan said as he pulled away to look up at Maddie a sad look on his face.

"They must of hit there head, it will feel better in the morning," Maddie said as she lay a sleepy Evan on his back in his bed tucking him in tightly and placing a kiss on his forehead before retreating back to her own room for the night.

"Edmundo get down from there right now!" Ramon's voice was firm as he walked into the Diaz household late at night after returning from a work trip. A 6-year old Eddie Diaz stood on top of the couch a blanket on his head and a pair of tongs in one hand he froze in place as he heard his fathers voice. His younger sister sat on the floor her giggles stopping suddenly as Ramon made his way over.

"What in the hell do you think you are doing boy!" Ramon said as Eddie jumped off the couch quickly dropping the blanket and tongs standing up straight in front of Ramon.

"Mom, said I was to look after Adriana so she could take Sophia to the doctors I-" Eddie said obviously still startled by his fathers sudden appearance but Ramon cut him off.

"I'm sure what your mother meant was to put her to bed not dance around like a bunch of little fairy's" Ramon said his words harsh and his tone filled with anger. "Go put your sister to bed" Ramon said his voice firm.

Eddie rushed past him clutching his sisters hand as he guided her away. A short time later Eddie returned a sad defeated expression on his face as he stood in front of his father who sat in his armchair swirling a glass of brandy in one hand.

"Dad I'm sorry I am-" Eddie pleaded. But Ramon lifted an arm in the air silencing the boy. Eddie stood still fear rushing though his veins at what his father may do next.

"I have had up to hear with your nonsense Edmundo!" Ramon snapped waving his hand in the air. "You should be leading a better example for your sisters!"

Eddie nodded "I know for next time Dad" he said in a small voice.

"You better." Ramon said as he stood up from his chair dropping his glass on the table causing a loud noise to echo through the quiet house, he slowly moved towards Eddie grabbing the small boy by the collar. He shoved Eddie hard to the ground pushing his face against the cold wood on the ground making sure to smack it against the floor a few times for good measure. Ramon stood up shaking himself off and adjusting his clothes, "Pick your self up boy, be the man of the house."
