Draco didn’t even think. He raised his mother’s wand, directed it at his father, and with more conviction than he had ever felt in his entire life he uttered the two words that would keep his father from taking this moment away from him. A burst of green light struck Lucius Malfoy right between his shoulder blades and he fell forward onto the rubble strewn floor. The hall fell into silence again as Draco stared into two brilliant green eyes that wore a look of utmost disbelief.

Six years later Draco Malfoy stands staring at Harry Potter across their shared sitting room with his arms crossed. "Don't thank me Potter, I'd have never found a job if I let my father kill you. Let's just get through this year without killing each other.""This year? Are you planning an early retirement? Or do you frequently only stay at a job for one year?" Potter said with an eyebrow raised.
"This is going to be a very long year." Neville said from the settee between them.
