Tech's Goggles Debacle (or not)
Tech was busy readjusting his precious goggles.
The recording device on them to be more precise. Something of a construct of his own design, rather smart too. As it was with it, Tech being able to record whatever he saw whenever he wanted to most objects of said recordings being none the wiser.
It was a hobby after all, the recording of things and stuff and whatever and certainly, whenever.
Omega, having always found these spectacles rather fascinating was now sitting right beside Tech’s workbench. The kid keenly observing the genius at work. It was her hobby, watching Tech doing his tinkering. As this time around, Omega had decided to shadow Tech. It was his turn but of course.
Omega having commented at one point she fancied a pair of glasses of her own even if she really did not need them, her vision twenty-twenty. Perfect for a child her age.
“So, you think you could make me a pair of those as well?”
Omega dared to ask finally. Mostly though, wanting the holo-cam option of the specs and guess, she wanted to look like a genius too? As in Omega’s mind, the specs made all the difference in looking brilliant having read it somewhere.
“You don’t need glasses, Omega. There is nothing wrong with your vision.” Tech simply told her, not really understanding the kid’s fascination of his vision aid.
“I know, but.. well, they look so cool on you and…” She looked at Tech with her puppy dog eyes, pleading.
Tech looked up, not really seeing Omega all too well while having his goggles off. Adjusting the camera on them and all. As Tech could see quite well up close. Really close. The nitty-gritty up close and personal kind of precise work his vision was fine for.
But Tech having seen enough of Omega’s pouty face, having memorised the facial expressions of his sister could easily imagine the sulking kid’s face right at the very moment.
“Here.”
Tech offered the pair in his hands to Omega to try on.
Omega looked surprised but accepted the offering.
“Try them on.”
Omega did as per ordered. The prescription of them making her a tad dizzy, her vision becoming similar to how Tech saw the galaxy without his goggles. Quite blurry. But also, rather beautiful. The surroundings without imperfections.
Omega tried to look around with the glasses on, but yeah, she couldn’t really see much. Well, not too much anyway.
“How do I look?”
Tech leaned in closer, squinting his eyes trying to focus his vision.
“I really couldn’t tell.”
“Oh. Yeah. Heh, sorry.” Omega giggled realising her faux-pas.
“Echo, we need your assistance in here, please.” Tech hollered to Echo.
Echo arrived in no time. The ARC having been tinkering with something close by.
“What’s up you two? Oh… hehe. Look at you kid!”
“She is trying them on. How do they look Echo?”
“Well, good, but are you able to see anything Omega?” Echo doubted Omega couldn’t.
“No, but I would like a pair. With a camera, but no corrective lenses.”
Omega moved closer to Tech, the two looking back at Echo expectantly.
“Well, then, guess I would say you too are like two peas in a pot when you get a pair too!”
“Good! Then Tech, can you make me a pair of goggles, please?”
Tech took his own glasses from Omega, putting them on. Thinking for a moment.
“Guess, I could do that.”
“Yay!” Omega was ecstatic. “I am going to be Tech!”
Echo and Tech both rolled their eyes, but laughed just the same.
As long as Omega was happy, they were all happy after all!
