Work Text:
Launchpad was walking downtown when one of the busted out display windows of a long closed flower shop caught his attention; a single, still intact paper packet of red rose seeds. He paused for a moment, thinking of how nice it would be to surprise Negaduck with a bouquet of red roses, like on those soap operas his mom used to love so much. Then again, Launchpad was no Fabio, and Negaduck was certainly not a swooning damsel. Scoffing at his own stupid idea he kept walking toward his destination. Even as he was robbing a politician that wandered too far into the city, he couldn't get that little paper envelope out of his head.
Launchpad had lucked out, he had found a perfectly secluded area: a worn down cemetery that had long been looted of everything of value, but still had usable soil. He tried not to make his trips here too frequent or someone would notice. These flowers have officically earned his respect; he only comes out about once a month or so and they almost look better when it's been longer between visits. *Very punk* he thinks.
It’s almost Honker’s birthday over at the Muddlefoot’s place. He and Negaduck like the family alright but that Tank kid is weird. Gosalyn seems to be friends with him, but then again she’s a little oddball too. Although Negaduck will never admit it, Launchpad knows he’s got a major soft spot for the kid. Otherwise, the poor thing would be out in St. Canard on her own and even Launchpad knows she wouldn’t last two minutes out there.
Speaking of Gosalyn, she seems like she’s been a little less bright and sunshiny lately. She kinda weirds Launchpad out most of the time but it’s freakier when she’s *not* herself. With that thought in mind, Launchpad “liberated” a massive bag of toys for her to play with. He even found the ones that are still intact and don’t have knives! He stopped by his secret spot on the way back to the house and noticed the rose bush actually looks pretty perfect. He started trying to pick one but a hidden thorn pricked his finger pretty well. “*Ouch!* That’s it, you rose bush, you’re coming with me!” Launchpad then picked up the entire bush (carefully now) and hauled it over his shoulder, walking in the direction of the house. He can’t wait to see the kid’s face when she sees all these toys he, uh, found. It’s better she doesn’t know where they came from. As for Negaduck’s surprise, well, he’s just hoping the flowers go over well. If not he could always just say he miraculously found it intact and destroy it for him. Either way, he’s got options.
Say, why is Negaduck's outfit a different color?
