Work Text:

I remember it now.

A white car was zooming in the countryside of the region. A field covered in green grass could be seen across the horizon. The sky was clear; clouds could be seen, while the sun gave their warming sunlight.

That day when I met him.

“Mom, Dad, can I explore around this place?” a young green-haired girl asks her parents. Her white sundress and sun hat sway up and down in tune with her jumping, small figure.

The green-haired girl’s mom stopped her activity and stared at her. “Eh?” She let out a mix of confused and surprised voices. “It’s rare to see you excited over exploring something. I’m okay if your dad is okay with it, Nene.” She sat down on the white basket of food that she carried.

The strangest yet the most magical day I’ve ever had.

Nene’s dad smiles widely, his hand forming a thumbs-up as he looks at his excited daughter. “Just make sure to get back before the sun in the middle of the sky, deal?” He approaches his daughter, squatting down to reach her height.

“Deal!” Nene nodded her head. She quickly left the picnic area and went on her little exploration.

Yet, if I could, I would want to travel back to that day to revisit that place and time.

The green-haired girl finds herself in a pond. In the middle of the pond sits a large sakura tree with a dark trunk and a root that almost touches the water. The tree’s flowers flew around the tree, some landing on the pond water.

Nene’s eyes follow one of the petals that landed on the pond water. She was amazed as her eyes shifted to the water; the color was a unique mix of blue and purple with some sort of shining glitter on the water’s surface—it almost looked like it came from another world.

Her feet, covered with white sandals, slowly stepped towards the lake. Her eyes look like it was hypnotized by the beautiful scene in front of her. Praising words came out from her small mouth as she got closer and closer to the lake—her urge to touch the water was irresistible at this point.

She walked down the hill that divided her from the pond at a fast pace—feeling more impatient with every step she took. Her mind was so darted on the beauty of the lake that she didn’t realize that the ground was slippery.

She lost her footing on the ground. Her body emerged into the glowing pond water. Her hat floated away from her, her dress and hair were wet, and her vision started to blur, followed by her consciousness slowly fading away with her breath—It was too late for her to realize that her life was at stake, thanks to her recklessness.

Someone help me. Nene tries to yell, but her voice can’t escape her mouth.

“Don’t worry, you’ll be fine.” A soft boy's voice soothes her. Two warm hands surrounded her stomach and nurtured her; her consciousness faded away as she calmed down. The only thing she could see was a purple-haired boy around her age with a smile on his face.

The green-haired girl opened her eyes. She was greeted by the sun’s glare from the middle of the sky. She sat straight up and turned her head around—wondering what had just happened to her and if she was dead or alive.

“She has woken up!” A familiar woman's voice echoes to her ear. The tone was a mix of gladness and concern.

Nene’s mother ran from the white car. She hugs the confused girl with tears flowing from her eyes; a soft sob escapes her mouth as her grip on the girl tightens.

I can’t remember more of that day; all I could remember was that part and the smile of that boy who probably saved me. Since that day, the same question has haunted my mind, who’s that boy?....

I've tried my best. I promise to get better as time continues to tick.
