They sit on a couch for a movie, something Douma picked out because she knew her guest would find it interesting. The air conditioner’s hum has been drowned out by the sound of narration and whatever other glib someone might confuse for important. It’s kind of not really interesting. Something about the Paradise Cult arson of 2005. The media always got it wrong and this documentary was no exception. Always blaming some rogue cultist or an activist instead of the 13 year old girl they worshipped.
Her company, on the other hand, was completely enthralled. You could call her something of a journalist. The name of “Tamio Enmu” was an appreciated sight for those looking for nuanced takes and fanciful retellings. Her recent journalistic obsession was that very arson.
It really couldn’t get any more convenient than that! Unfortunately, assisting her research efforts was the furthest thing from Douma’s mind.
