Work Text:
It has been months since he last felt the wind of his guardian. The forest hadn't been this quiet for quite a long time. Though the faint sound of the trees rustling could be heard from time to time, it was no longer as soft and soothing as it used to be.
Millennial Tree Cookie sighed as he stood up from his meditating ground and looked at the nearby roots, hoping it'll give him any message regarding his guardian. But alas, when the Cycle of Life was hindered, he could no longer hear the voices of the world.
'Step into the darkness you shall not, for its darkness will consume you and leave you hollow.'
His own words echoed in his mind.
Had he underestimated the threat that Earthbread is currently facing?
"Millennial Tree Cookie?"
He turned his head to where the voice had come from. "Thank you for coming, Fire Spirit Cookie." He spoke softly. Come, have a seat." Millennial Tree Cookie then created a makeshift tea table set for the two of them. "I am sure you are well aware regarding Earthbread's current situation." He asked.
"Yeah, Frost Queen Cookie had sent her lackey a couple of months ago, but I didn't really care because my domain was still unaffected until....." Fire Spirit Cookie's voice seemed to be toned down a little. ".... about a week after."
The other cookie raised his eyebrows (can cookies even do that??). and looked intently at Fire Spirit Cookie. "Do elaborate."
"Well, it's not really disturbed or anything." Fire Spirit Cookie started to fidget with his staff. "The winds seemed to blow differently, like a sinister energy had been mixed within it. But I am, in fact, sure that is, somewhat, his wind." He stopped for a while to gather his thoughts. "I haven't felt these winds being abnormal since...." Fire Spirit Cookie's eyes widened upon the realization of his own words.
"His corruption as Night Raven Cookie..." Millennial Tree Cooke finished the sentence, a melancholy look on his face. He then looked away from Fire Spirit Cookie, once again doubting his actions. "Should I have not sent him to Beast-Yeast?"
Upon hearing those words, Fire Spirit Cookie stared at Millennial Tree Cookie and immediately stood up. "Let me go there. I will get Windy back here." He stated.
Millennial Tree Cookie looked sharply back at the fire cookie. "No."
"WHY NOT!?"
Fire Spirit Cookie wasn't known for patience; his fiery hair had flared up after hearing Millennial Tree Cookie's response. Was the old tree going to let his own child guardian fall into the hands of Dark Enchantress Cookie once again? Or, worse, in the hands of one of the wretched Beast.
Whatever it was, Fire Spirit Cookie was not going to let any of them toy around with his soothing breeze Wind Archer Cookie any longer.
"Out of all places on Earthbread, Beast-Yeast is the heart of the unstable energy force. You should not go in there blindly." Millennial Tree Cookie warned. "Wind Archer Cookie is probably in the hand of The Beast, considering that if he were in the hands of Dark Enchantress Cookie or her followers, we would've known earlier," he continued.
"And? It doesn't make that much of a difference! They are still using Breezy for their evil plans!" Fire Spirit protested; desperation laced his voice.
If Fire Spirit Cookie was really desperate, why hadn't the cookie just flown to Beast-Yeast immediately? Well, it's because he wanted Millennial Tree Cookie's blessing. It's not that he was afraid of what lies in the corrupted land of Beast-Yeast; he was somewhat afraid of his own fire abilities. Unlike the other legendaries, if he used his powers just a little over a certain limit, he could, ironically, burn himself and turn into ash. But with Millennial Tree Cookie's blessing, he'd be able to maneuver his powers fully.
A sigh came out of Millennial Tree Cookie. He waved his hand, and on his palm appeared a sphere of concentrated energy. The sphere then glided to Fire Spirit and merged their powers. It had stung a little, but soon after, Fire Spirit Cookie felt refreshed.
"Fine, take this blessing. I shall allow you to go—"
"I'll go there now!" Fire Spirit Cookie cut him off, ready to fly to Beast-Yeast. As he tried to leave the area, a tree branch appeared out of nowhere, making the Fire Elemental crash into it. "OW! WHAT WAS THAT FOR!?" He turned back to Millennial Tree Cookie.
"Though, I will not let you go alone, Fire Spirit Cookie," Millennial Tree Cookie said sternly. A moment after, Churro Cookie appeared from behind him. Churro Cookie looked at Fire Spirit Cookie and gave him a respectful bow. "It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance." Millennial Tree Cookie gave a soft nod to him before turning back to Fire Spirit Cookie.
"I want Churro Cookie to accompany you."
Fire Spirit Cookie looked at Churro Cookie judgmentally. "Who the hell is this guy?"
"I am Churro Cookie, the guardian of the Millennial Tree Temple." Churro Cookie introduced himself. The Millennial Tree then explained to Fire Spirit Cookie why he wanted Churro Cookie to accompany him. One of the reasons being that Churro Cookie had helped dispel Wind Archer Cookie's corruption curse the first time.
At first, Fire Spirit Cookie didn't want Churro Cookie to follow him, as the Fire Elemental thought that Churro Cookie would get in his way, but the old tree did have a valid point about the cookie being experienced in freeing Wind Archer Cookie from the corruption. Thinking back, Fire Spirit Cookie was only there for Wind Archer Cookie post-corruption, where he had taken care of the weakened guardian.
Though in reality, Wind Archer Cookie was just distancing himself from everyone that time because he had felt severely guilty and had thought that because he had gotten corrupted, he no longer deserved the title of 'Guardian Of The Millennial Tree.' During that phase of him, no cookie or even cookiemals dared to approach him to give him time. Unfortunately, that had also caused more misconception on Wind Archer Cookie's side. That's when Fire Spirit Cookie got the wind (I'm such a comedian) of Wind Archer Cookie's condition and helped and accompanied the cookie to regain back his confidence.
Fire and Wind. It was as if the two were meant for each other...
Fire Spirit Cookie doesn't mind doing the same thing again. He just wanted his breeze to be safe and fine.
"We shall make haste to the lands of Beast-Yeast now." "Be careful, and remember, though your power exceeds that of the Beast, never underestimate them..."
Unfortunately for Fire Spirit Cookie, he wasn't able to fly straight to Beast-Yeast because Churro Cookie can't fucking fly.
