Bluh

Summary:

A series of random everyday occurrences described in excessive detail.

I tend to get thoughts in passing dramatizing very menial things I do, so I figured, "Why not turn this into a writing thing?"
As much as I love to write about my favorite media, writing about boring shit like this helps to push my thought process and get me to work a little faster. So here's this, I guess.

Chapter 1: Keurig

Chapter Text

Groggy eyes scanned the area displayed across from them, searching for a solution. With annoyance at their failure, a hand was unceremoniously shoved through the gap of various food stuffs - cooking oils, spices, flour, and whatever other items could be kept at room temperature without rotting away pitifully, as their frailer ingredient counterparts often did. The arm’s shuffling was met with reward, confirmed by the cropped visual information reported by squinting optics. Opened and lifted, the top of a coffee pod box was peeking out behind a toppled bottle. Yes!

The hand traversed further in, taking in the sensory input as confirmation or denial of its proximity to the goal. Smooth, with sloping angular curves, a light vertically shaped container filled with liquid. Of course, that was a bottle of vanilla extract. Not it. Keep prying. Intrusively shoving its way deeper into the room temperature storage crevice, to the right of the vanilla stood firm a heavier and more rounded object. Much larger in size, with coarser plastic than the last. A smooth label was at its midsection, fitted like a corset. With the only movement in this thing being the prodding limb, the jostling of the fluid inside this object was also fairly apparent. And judging by its lid? Still not it. This was the jug of white vinegar. Further, further in we go. Okay, no, this is too angular and tall. That was…well hands can’t really feel the difference between seasoning containers, but judging by the fact that the pantry only had one spice container this big, it was probably cinnamon.

More shuffling ensued, lengthy prongs pushing and sensing for any kind of feeling even slightly resembling what could be that sweet succulent package able to be delivered to their owners oral cavity, until finally, digits grasped cardboard, and their journey came to a fulfilling end.

A haphazard grip was formed the second the boxy feel of rough papery goodness was processed. Removed from the box, the lucky (or unlucky, depending on how you prefer to personify your coffee pods) contender was free from its prism prison!

Alas, its life was short lived, for the handle of the coffee machine top was tugged upon and lifted to reveal a death chamber for the little thing. Down into the slot it went, quickly being impaled by an impatient customer of its brewed insides. A prompt to light up the literary displays etched onto the thing’s ring of buttons went through, responding to the input of a fresh new victim. Once obtrusive and bulky things, delicate and controlled hands extended and contracted to customize the end result of this escapade. Delivery on orders shall be received. The great circle in the middle gets a push, and immediately a buzz rang through the mechanism. Drip, drip, dripdripdripdripdripdrip steaming brown translucent fluid flowed out of the machine faster and faster, rate speeding, until a steady stream was able to be formed. A light consistent sound of drops hitting metal continued to ring out in tandem with the hum of the larger electronic fueling said sound.

Slowly, after about a full 30 seconds of nothing but full power brewing, it all came to a halt. And just like that, it stopped. The thick scent of it filled the space in a wide range. The white lights shut off, the whirring ceased, everything died down one by one until a still, piping cup was all that was left to prove this machine ever made coffee in the first place.

Gently, the little container was met by a curled palm, scooping it up and emptying its energizing contents bit by bit into a weary vessel.

Notes:

My goal for this is to make one of these every other week at the very least? Not sure if I'll actually keep up with that but we'll see how it goes.
