Work Text:
A midsummer’s night wind
Carries our laughter
Far across the beach
Where all the not lovers can hear
And all the lovers can’t
It blows me closer to you
Closer to your love
Toes buried in the sand of California
As you stare out into the Pacific
I stare at you
I’m not sure if you notice
In the swallowing dark
The only light illuminating you
Is from the moon
Bright and full
It looks down at us
Trying to decide
If we’re a rom-com
Or a tragedy
Waiting to happen
A midsummer’s night wind
Tugs at your silky black hair
Pushing it into your deep brown eyes
Reflecting the sparkling waves
That sweep up and touch the sand
It whistles in my ears
Oh so loud
Until I can’t hear a thing
Only the beating of my heart
Trying to punch out of my chest
And your soft breaths
In and out
With the movements of your chest
Brushing against your slightly cracked lips
Which beg me to take a taste
But I don’t
Not on that beach
We stand up
And walk away
Leaving the midsummer’s night wind
