Chapter Text
Rae's POV:
"Your finished!"
Manaria lifted her wand, pointing it at rae and smirked.
Glowing glyphs surrounded her as she desperately tried to think of a solution.
"No! No! No! There has to be something! Think! I cant use Cocytus but what other spells could i use?-"
"Dominater."
A blinding flash of light filled the battlefield as lighting erupted from Rae, paralyzing her in pain.
"Dominater... a spell that makes its oppents power go beserk its the most strongest and cruel spell in the game."
"How could I have been so foolish? to think I could win against her?"
She thought back to the night before when Manaria challenged her to this duel.
"Your just as weak as your love for claire is."
Another blast of light exploded from her body, momenarily blinding everyone.
Time itself seemed to slow when the light faded. Rae felt pain like nothing before as her body gave up and began to fall.
"At least Manaria will treat her better than I ever could."
Through the haze of pain she barely made out Manaria’s figure, standing firm with her wand still raised, unmoving.
"Claire will be protected by this worlds one and only quad caster, not to mention a princess who will give claire a better chance of surviving the revolution"
Her vision blurred as darkness started to form on the outer edges.
"I'm sorry Claire"
Was the last thing Rae thought as the ground rushed towards her- then eveything went black

Claire's POV:
As the light faded she saw her commoner collapse, blood streaming from her face and hand, soaking her uniform.
"RAE!"
Claires body moved before she could think, heart pounding as she sprinted across the courtyard.
"RAE TAYLOR ARE YOU ALRIGHT?!" she yelled before reaching her.
She dropped to her knees, landing beside Rae and lifted her into her arms.
"Commoner! Commoner! Wake up!" Claire repeated frantically as gasps and worried murmers started to arise around her.
At this point, she didnt care how this would reflect on her status- a noble crying over her injured maid. None of that mattered right now. All that mattered was that Rae was going to be okay.
She felt tears start to form as she kept shaking Rae, shouting more commands at her to wake up before Manaria finally stood behind her.
"Step aside Claire, I'll heal her."
Claire was silent for a moment, gripping rae tightly before turning to face her. "Please sister." Claire said quietly but desperately
She gently laid Rae on the ground and backed away but remained close to her. watching intently as sister waved her wand and the blood slowly disipeared from her face.
"Shes going to be alright. Theres no need to worry-"
"It wasnt neccessary to go that far! She could have been killed, Sister!" Claire shouted angrily, cutting her off.
Manaria blinked before continuing "Well theres always the barrier. Even dominater couldnt have inflicted lethal damage" She said indifferent.
"Although it was more powerful than I thought. Rae must have a lot power for it to hurt her that much" She added, looking at Rae thoughtfully.
"Honestly! How can you be so calm?" Claire huffed in annoyance, turning away from her to look at Rae's unconscious form, wiping away any stray tears.
Even though manaria had healed Rae, her racing heart barely slowed down as the thought of losing Rae just as she lost lene was overwhelming.
She put a hand on Rae's blood-soaked uniform, feeling Manaria's gaze on her. "... You must worry for her a lot, huh?" Manaria said.
Claire didnt acknolegde her, eyes locked on the commoner as she started to stir.
Rae slowly opened her eyes and turned her head to face the two girls. Relief flooded through her and let out a breath she hadnt realized she'd been holding.
"Thank goodness your okay." She said softly with a slightly flushed face.
Rae frowned, confusion clouding her face
"Who... are you?" she said with weak slurred words
Claire's heart dropped like a stone, mind going blank. Manarias smug smirk vanished and was replaced with confused concern.
"...What...?"
But before either of them could react properly Rae's eyes fluttered closed and she fell back into unconsciousness.
