The World's Greatest Tragedy

Summary:

"Someone always misses you"
"It's just like memories. The faded ones are the ones you will one day reach for."
"It truly is man kinds greatest sin"

OR

I don't know how to summarize this, so you'll just have to trust the process and read it for yourselves.

Notes:

I know one doesn't quite fit the theme of the other works in this series, but I just felt like writing it so here is.

Work Text:

“An old friend wished to call out your name.” Barbatos said quietly.

“I see.” Morax responded in a soft voice.

“Hmm. It’s a shame.” Barbatos whispered as he gazed at the stars.

“What is?” Morax asked, curious as to what the bard is speaking of.

“The worlds most sought-after thing is love. Yet it is the one thing the worlds sees the least.”

“Hmm. I see. Why do you suppose that is?” Morax questioned.

“No matter where you go. No matter who you may see. Someone will always want to see your face. To hear your voice. Even if you have been apart for many years, an old friend still yearns to call out your name. Yet, you will never know just how much that old friend misses you. Quite poetic, don’t you think?” Barbatos spoke. Smiling sadly at the brightest star in the sky.

“Hmm. Yes, I suppose that has some truth to it.” Morax responded.

Some silence passed.

“It is the same as memories. It is the forgotten ones you will find yourself reaching for.” The taller man remarks.

“I can agree with that.” The bard spoke quietly.

“You should write a song about it.” Morax suggested as he sat up, ready to leave.

“What do you suppose I should name it?” Barbatos inquired as he remained where he was laying on the grass.

Morax pondered for a moment as he stood up and dusted himself off.

It didn’t take him long to settle on a name.

“The world's greatest tragedy.”
