PART 1 - KITTY
Kitty was pining. Of course, she was pining. When wasn't she?
It had been two weeks since she officially joined Min Ho and his family on the summer leg of Joon Ho's Baby Daddy Tour, and she'd been pining before she even stepped foot on the private jet that had flown them halfway across the world.
Her favorite person to talk to so far, besides Min Ho, was Joon Ho's fiancée, Eunji. It was kind of embarrassing, actually, how they had gotten so close because of the way it happened.
On the third night of tour, Min Ho was chatting away with Joon Ho, and Eunji had walked up next to Kitty and comfortingly rested her palm on Kitty's shoulder. "They are chaos together, aren't they?" Kitty's lips parted into a hearty grin as she nodded. "Oh, definitely. Those two are trouble." What a funny sentence coming from her mouth, considering she is the chaos queen. Eunji chuckled and kindly said, "I'm glad you're here, Kitty. It's nice to have someone who sees one of them in such a similar light. Sometimes the fans and attention can become too much. I'm sure you'll understand what I mean, if you haven't noticed it already."
"In the same light?" Kitty had asked through a slight frown, a little confused. "You must care about him very much if you're willing to spend the entire summer travelling, living in countless time zones and countries without real stability, so willingly with him," Eunji commented.
Well, shit. Was it that obvious?
Now, two weeks later, they stood in a strikingly similar position. Side by side, they watched Joon Ho perform from the right side of the stage from behind the curtains.
Kitty missed Min Ho. He had been gone for- what- maybe forty-five minutes? She wasn't sure. All that she knew was that she was told he was going on a date.
Just the thought of the word created a bitter, repulsing taste in her mouth.
Yeah, sure, Min Ho had casually mentioned that he thought he was better off as a playboy when they had walked in the gardens, but Kitty hadn't really bought it. Stella had, truly and completely, messed up the way he viewed relationships- even more than they had been before. So, Kitty had just told herself that he'd only said it in response to getting hurt- the same kind of way boys back in the United States say "I don't need a girl," as they think they're the shit after being broken up with.
Yet, here they were. It was hardly even half a month later, and he was daintily running on scrummy little dates- "nothing serious," he'd claimed. Oh, but it was serious. It was very serious for miss Kitty Song-Covey.
"Have you talked to him about how you feel about this?" Eunji asked through a small whisper, speaking tenderly with care. Kitty swallowed the ginormous lump in her throat, forcing her feelings down. "That's not really the kind of relationship we have."
Well, that was a lie. Kitty knew it. If Min Ho had been there, he would've too.
But he wasn't.
"Kitty, he cares about you. You have to know that he does. We all see it. If you told him how you felt about him going on all of these so- called 'side quests', I'm sure something very meaningful could come from it," Eunji suggested.
Kitty inhaled a deep breath, smoothing her skirt as she stared out at Joon Ho performing. She couldn't look Eunji in the eyes as she told her, "Min Ho made his own decision to go out on a date and is trying to become a playboy again. If that's what he wants, I respect it."
Eunji's eyes softened on the young girl, knowing she'd been in a similar situation before. "Even if it means sabotaging your own happiness-- and quite possibly his, as well?"
"Min Ho doesn't see me like that anymore," Kitty muttered, trying to convince herself it was true.
Eunji slightly shook her head. "Oh, Kitty. I wish you could see the way he looks at you."
What could Kitty possibly say in response to that? The lump that she had swallowed had re-appeared, and her eyes started watering. She blinked the tears away. It's just one date, she thought to herself, her heart pounding at just the thought of him looking at the girl in some sort of romantic way. It doesn't really mean anything.
After the long night, she entered the limo humming to herself a terrifyingly familiar, emotional song, knowing she would be seeing Min Ho later that night since their rooms were connected.
'Drew looks at me, I fake a smile so he can't see'
PART 2- MIN HO
He sat across from a girl he'd met on the internet. The view from the roof of the building overlooking the city of Madrid was quite possibly his favorite he'd seen since he'd been on tour with his family. Unfortunately, he wasn't happy about it, though, because something was missing.
No, not something. Someone.
Min Ho glanced at the girl across from him- Lana? He thought that might be her name. Maybe it was Lea. It definitely started with the letter L. Oh, god. He didn't even know her name! What was he even doing?
He hadn't even told Kitty he was going on a date. Well, he'd mentioned the idea of it weeks before. He'd planned on telling Kitty the week before, and then the day before, and even the morning of, but the time never seemed to be right. He didn't want to tell her because, well, honestly, he wasn't so sure she'd actually be happy for him about it.
It was Kitty. Of course, she would be happy for him!
But was she happy? At the venue just with Eunji? Of course, she was. What a silly question! He repeatedly told himself that Kitty hadn't joined the tour just for him. That would be a silly thought, especially after she rejected him. They were just good friends, and she wanted a good, fun summer adventure.
"Min Ho, are you paying attention?" The girl asked. Min Ho's smile didn't reach his eyes as he nodded. "Of course. Sorry, I was just thinking of how nice the view is tonight. It's beautiful, isn't it?"
Lana- Lea- whatever her name was- narrowed her eyes. "What's her name?"
Min Ho nearly choked on the drink he'd just taken from his glass. "I beg your pardon?"
"The girl you're thinking about," the girl muttered. "Obviously, you're not very present. No one stares at the sky, or table, or at someone's forehead for that long. Who's on your mind? The girl you were dating a few weeks ago?"
Min Ho shook his head. "I'm not thinking of anyone." The girl crossed her arms. "Don't lie to me. I know that this wasn't supposed to be a serious date or whatever. I agreed to a fun, silly little romantic night out. I didn't sign up to be your therapist, but since your mind is somewhere else, the least you can do is humor me. Who are you thinking about?"
He let out a sigh and leaned back in his chair a little. "I'm sorry. I really did mean for this to be a night out. I just can't think of anything else right now. She would've loved the view from up here, as ridiculous as it sounds."
"What happened with her?" Lana- no, it was definitely Lea. He officially remembered her name. That was good. Then, he realized what she'd said. Min Ho shook his head. "Sorry, I'm not following. What do you mean?"
Lea tilted her head and squinted as if she was trying to decode his strange demeanor. "The girl. Obviously, something happened between you two. It sounds like you two had a falling out of some sort. So, what happened?"
"Oh no," Min Ho chuckled lightly- despite the ache his heart was feeling. "We didn't. I just- well, she rejected me a while back, and I think that I might still have feelings for her. She's here with my family on tour, actually. Don't bother asking me why. I'm not so sure of her reasonings myself."
"Yeah, right," Lea scoffed, "like someone would join a tour just for the hell of it. There's no way that relationship is platonic."
Min Ho shook his head. "You don't understand. It's much more complicated than that. She doesn't see me that way, but there is history between her and my best friend, so that also just makes these undeniable feelings so much more--"
"What's her name?" Lea interrupted. A small sigh escaped Min Ho's lips. "Kitty."
Lea chuckled lightly. "Her name is Kitty?"
Min Ho narrowed his eyes, feeling very defensive and over-protective. "Yes, it is. Do you have a problem with that?"
"No, no! Sorry, I've just never heard that as a name before. Interesting," Lea claimed.
"Her name is actually Katherine. She just goes by Kitty," Min Ho explained. "She's not from Korea. She's an American exchange student."
Lea smirked as she nodded. "You should go to her."
Min Ho's eyes widened as he asked, "I'm sorry, what?" Lea shrugged. "Go spend time with her. I mean, your brother's show should be done soon. You obviously like the girl. She obviously likes you enough to join your family for the entire summer. Go spend time with her. Don't be stupid- and, oh, please don't talk about me. No one likes when you talk about another woman. I don't care because this is interesting to me, but please. Don't tell her about tonight. You might scare her."
"You really think I should go?" Min Ho asked quietly.
Lea smiled, nodding. "Yep. Just go. She'll be happy to see you."
