Work Header

A point of view

Summary:

Ekko really shouldn’t be surprised that Jinx randomly decided to sprawl out on the floor

Notes:

So guys, how are we feeling about the music video coming out? I for one, looking forward to sobbing my eyes out.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

“Jinx,” Ekko grumbled, almost tripping over her. “What are you doing on the ground?”

She looked up at him with wide gray eyes.

“I’m lying down.”

He sighed with frustration. That was obvious enough, though she probably wasn’t being coy. Jinx had a tendency to answer questions directly and get confused when people got annoyed at her for it. She also had a tendency to end up in the most random of positions and places, like hanging off their balcony by her knees or sitting on the kitchen table. He really shouldn’t be surprised to find her sprawled out on the living room floor. At this point he shouldn’t be surprised by anything she did, at all.

“Why are you sitting on the floor?” Ekko asked, more conversational than irritated now.

“It gives you a different view. You should try it.”

Ekko shrugged and lay down next to her. It wasn’t exactly comfortable—the boards beneath them were hard and uneven. But it was strangely relaxing. He turned his face towards her and realized he liked her from this angle. She was beautiful enough from every angle, of course, but somehow she looked more like the old Powder this way. She was looking up at their sloped ceiling.

“We should paint it,” she said. “Make a mural or something.”

“Yeah?” Ekko said. “That might be hard. It’s all the way up there.”

Then she turned to him, giving him a smile that was more genuine and gentle than usual.

“Hey, I’ve been meaning to start a new project. Something that doesn’t involve death or destruction for once.”

“That would be nice,” Ekko agreed. “All right, but you have to let me and Isha help.”

“I’ll take that deal.”

She let her head rest against his. They stayed there for a while, staring up at the empty space. Maybe this wasn’t so uncomfortable after all.

Notes:

I just can’t get enough of these two being a sweet, happy couple, especially given how we don’t get any of that in canon
