look after me

Summary:

a meeting of nothing more but to care and look out for one another.

Work Text:

Before there were tender kisses, whispers that grazed their skin, and brushing lips, Jimin spoke.

"I can't believe you refuse my kisses," Jungkook rested his head in the crook between Jimin's arm and chest. Jimin's fingers played with strands of Jungkook's still damp hair, the other hand rested on the slight curve of Jungkook's waist, and their legs intertwined, the space in between their bodies was minimal.

Jungkook moved his neck slightly, angling his eyes upwards in the attempt to get a better view of Jimin's face. "I can't kiss you in public," he answered, his voice quiet as he made sure it was only Jimin that could hear the response. But it would have been Jimin to only hear the answer even if Jungkook had yelled at the top of his lungs. Their hotel room was empty and so were the rooms beyond theirs. Everyone had set out for a free night in the city except for Jimin and Jungkook.

"Mm," Jimin hummed. There was a momentary glance exchanged between the two, a short amount of frozen time in which their minds raced with a million thoughts. A lapse in which their eyes communicated everything they wanted and needed of each other. Who knew someone could think and share so many things in such a little span of time? So many things in a single movement of the clock's fastest hand.

And then, they met. There was a click, a connection, a link that finally joined. There was delicacy in the way their lips pressed together and their breaths shared one space. There was intimacy in the way their throats hummed and in the way Jimin's low whisper grazed against Jungkook's skin, lighting the younger boy's ears on fire and causing his breath to hitch. And there was secrecy in the faint touch of Jungkook's fingertips against Jimin's body and in the firmer grasp of Jimin's hand holding Jungkook's face.

Jungkook parted from Jimin's kiss, from his pink lips, and traveled downwards, skimming over Jimin's chin and leaving warm presses on his neck. He positioned himself in the way that his eyelashes fluttered against Jimin's skin, tickling his chin. Everything felt so vivid to Jimin. He felt and sensed all of the movement around him and all of Jungkook's movement on him.

Jimin's fingers ventured, remembering all of him, knowing it would be a while before he could retrace this marvelous map. He reached up and played with Jungkook's hair, the tousled hair that tangled in between his fingers. Jungkook was a little boy Jimin wanted to take care of all on his own. These emotions were stronger at moments like this when everything was gentle, so gentle; it was a meeting of nothing more but to care and look out for one another.

Likewise, Jungkook felt small, he felt like he could bury himself, cover and hide from the world in Jimin's arms. It wasn't a sensation in which he felt powerless. No, it was as if he had been walking about his entire life in cold rain, icy water that pelted down on his naked skin, and finally he had reached his home and was now wrapped up in blankets, protected from the sharp drops that fell from the sky by strong walls. He felt small, but small in good way, small in a reassuring way.

"Ah," Jimin let out a breath. "Jungkook," hesitantly, he placed his fingers under Jungkook's chin and motioned for the boy to stop for a moment. "I like you so much," he mumbled gently, placing his forehead against Jungkook's and smiling softly.

"I know you do," Jungkook closed the gap separating their faces and planted a kiss on the corner of Jimin's mouth.

"You accept my feelings for you, right?" a pause. "You always reject me," Jimin said softly.

Jungkook stopped and looked Jimin in the eye. "Jimin, you know I only say those things because there's a camera in front of us,"

"What do you say when there aren't cameras around?" Jimin teased. He liked to hear Jungkook say certain things to him. He liked to hear Jungkook return everything Jimin offered to him with an open heart.

"I say that I like you so much, Jimin. I say that I accept your feelings, and I say that one day we'll go on that trip together, just the two of us," Jimin closed his eyes at the sound of Jungkook's voice. He felt Jungkook sweep his bangs from his forehead and he felt the soft kiss Jungkook pressed against his skin. Jimin opened his eyes once more and smoothed his thumb against Jungkook's cheek. He wondered how it was possible for life to be so perfect.

And so, they kissed. Soft kisses on their faces, on their jaws, necks, and on their hands. Subtle, intoxicating kisses on their lip. Hands found their way in each other's hair and they moved along onto their chests and around their necks or waists. But in the end, they lied together on the bed, Jungkook's face buried against Jimin's chest, the younger's left hand under his own cheek and his right hand held by the older. Their legs found places to rest in between each other's and their minds were lost in a world of blissful subconsciousness, soothing thoughts of one another in their dreams.

And they lied there together in each other's warmth, each other's presence, each other's memories and happiness and reason why.
