Lunch rush had to be Chuuya’s least favourite part of the day, floods of people; civilians, heroes and villains all coming in and ordering in a flash mob. The fact that he had four children between the ages of three and thirteen was also not helping. His older two, Ryuunosuke (whos thirteen) was carrying a tray of drinks towards a table while Gin (whos twelve) was taking cupcakes over to another.
He loved them both, but they weren’t meant to be helping in the cafe, they were meant to be doing their homework. Chuuya sighed out of his nose and poked his head into the backroom to find his three year old playing with his eleven year old. Something about a teddy bear picnic?
“Do you need anything, dears?” He asked, seeing both of them look up, Kyuusaku shrugged while Miyo nodded egerally. “What do you want, baby?”
“Cookie!” The three year old took her time to pronounce it. Miyo had problems learning to speak so it’s normal for her elder siblings to sound out the words she's saying to help her pronounce it better and she has, of course, picked up on this trait and would always get a high five from one of her siblings when she said a word correctly. “Cookie!!” She announced clearer and louder this time, without stretching it out.
Kyuusaku smiled and held up their hand. “High five!”
Their hands hit together and Chuuya smiled, quickly getting four cookies out of the display case and giving them to the kids before going back to making coffees, ice or hot, smoothies and weird concoctions people asked for. As the crowd died down a woman, wearing a mask with purple-black hair which reminded Chuuya much of a plum, spoke up. “Chuuya?” She called across the cafe.
Chuuya turned around to find one of the top heroes, Butterfly, standing by a table with his daughter sitting down. Chuuya imminently jumped the counter (though he could have just walked out from behind it– that would have taken longer). The ginger quickly rushed over to the child's side. “What's wrong?” Butterfly was the healer and doctor of the hero tower, so her making Gin sit down was call for concern.
Butterfly sighed and crossed her arms over her chest. “Do you have a girlfriend?”
Chuuyas' eyes twitched. “No.”
“Have you ever had one?”
“No.”
Butterfly sighed and rubbed her temples. “Okay, what about a female in your life?”
“I have my elder sister, Kouyou.” Chuuya paused. “Shit. Its that?”
Butterfly nodded with a small grin, however Ryuunosuke, who had just gotten back from a bathroom break, was confused. “Is Gin okay, mama?” The sound of the boy's voice made both adults tense and relaxed again.
Butterfly walked over to Ryuunosuke and gently led him to another area of the cafe to explain what was going on while Chuuya called his sister. “Ane-san, Gins started her period, could you bring–” Chuuya didn't get to finish before he was hung up on. “Rude.” He sighed, shaking his head as he looked at the phone.
The cafe doors slammed open. Kouyou had arrived within seconds.
The woman had long, flowing light scarlet hair which had a very small ting of orange in it and beautiful ruby eyes (which were contacts; she had just come rushing in from a cosplay event, which also explained her kimono). “I have everything.” She panted, looking like a crazed animal, slowly stalking towards her prey. “I have pads, fresh underwear, wet wipes, chocolates, heating pads, ice cream, a blanket and a new stuffed animal.” She said as she laid out all the items on the table.
Chuuya just slowly backed away, mouthing ‘good luck’ to Gin before going back to work.
Kouyou picked up the underwear, pads and wet wipes, gently pulling Gin into the bathroom. “First things first, you do know what a period is, right?” She asked, when the girl nodded the elder woman relaxed. “Okay, pull your pants and underwear off sweetheart, let's get you cleaned up.”
Gin did as she was told, watching as her aunt tossed the blood soaked items into the sink. “Okay, use this to clean up your thighs.” The woman handed her one wet wipe at a time, once all the blood was cleaned off her thighs (five wet wipes used in total) Kouyou handed her the new underwear. “Pull these on, but not all the way.” She instructed.
Gin slowly pulled the black underwear up her legs, stopping just above her knees, a small plastic wrapped item was handed to her. It was rectangular with what felt to be a soft, pillowy square inside at the center. It was covered in what seemed to be a sunset and the word ‘Libra’ were on the front and the back; likely the brand name.
Kouyou smiled and grabbed one as well, she turned it over so the back was facing her, Gin did the same, noticing the small flap at the bottom and seeing the word ‘regular’ in a small semi circle right where the plastic was attached to the other bit. “Grab the semi circle and pull it.” Kouyou explained, doing it herself while Gin did it. When the plastic opened it revealed a soft cushion which Gin hadn't seen before. “Now we pull the bottom bit down…” She demonstrated how to again and Gin mimicked it.
“Now, we grab this part.” She grabbed the edge around the part of the pad with a light purple heart design and pulled it off. “And pull.” Kouyou then pulled a spare pair of underwear around her ankles and placed the pad in them so the heart was facing towards Gin.
“Then we put it in like this.” She then grabbed the random fact sheets out of the middle and demonstrated how to fold the wings over the sides of the underwear. “And then you pull them up and go about your day.”
Gin followed along and pulled the underwear up while Kouyou took it off and removed the pad from inside with a quick tug. She then pointed to the instructions on the side of the plastic. “Make sure you follow this when you're disposing of it after. Also make sure you change it every one to three hours depending on your flow.” She smiled.
“I’ll make sure your mama knows how to handle this in the future.” Kouyou reached out of the bathroom and then pulled it inside, handing Gin a new pair of pants. “I’ll get these ones washed, you go lay down and eat the things I brought for you, I’m sure your mama wont mind.”
