In Sonic’s World, at Angel Island,
After Knuckles and Mighty began their race, the two looked to one another to reach Mushroom Hill first. Knuckles may have the advantage since he’s Angel Island’s guardian. However, despite that, he wasn’t going to underestimate Mighty since he’s unaware of how much stronger Mighty has gotten. Therefore, Knuckles will ensure that he’ll do his best to slow Mighty down.
For Mighty, even though he hasn’t been on Angel Island for a long time, that doesn't mean he was going to give up. He will continue to give in his all to reach Mushroom Hill before Knuckles does. Mighty will be on his guard to fight traps Knuckles has on the Island.
As the two kept racing each other, Knuckles and Mighty weren’t backing down this race.
15 minutes later,
After going through each obstacle, the two entered Mushroom Hill. Mighty was the first to arrive there.
“Looks like I won first half of the race, Knux.” Mighty said to Knuckles.
“Ah, you sure did.” Knuckles responded. “Although I had every advantage on my island, you managed to keep with me. I expected nothing less from you, Mighty.”
“Indeed. Even though I’m not faster like, I make sure to do things at my own pace. I do not quit that easily.” Mighty replied before going into his running stance. “Ready to finish the second half of the race, Knuckles?”
“You bet. *Going into his own running stance* However, I’ll be taking you more seriously.” Knuckles said.
“We shall see.”
Soon, Knuckles and Mighty dashed off as they raced from Mushroom Hill to the Master Emerald Shrine. Let’s see who could make it back to shrine first.
Back at the Master Emerald shrine, 10 Minutes later,
Amy and Ray were still guarding the Master Emerald. The two were waiting for Knuckles and Mighty to return from their race. Even though they weren’t choosing which one should win, Ray personally hopes that Mighty while Amy bets on Knuckles to win without being a bit reckless.
As 5 minutes passed, the two saw the red duo coming out of the forest with Mighty taking the lead. However, Knuckles then dug through the ground and went past Mighty. He emerged from the ground and got to the shrine first, winning the second half of the race.
“Ha, I won, Mighty.” Knuckles said.
“Yeah, that’s cheating!” Ray shouted; a bit annoyed at how Knuckles won.
Before Ray could say anything else, Mighty stopped him. “It’s okay, Ray. Knux won the second half of the race fair and square. Besides, were there any rules that restrict us from using our abilities?” he asked.
Ray paused for a moment and realized that there weren’t any. He looked back at Knuckles and spoke. “Sorry, Knuckles.”
“It’s all right, Ray.” Knuckles assured him.
Amy then came up to Knuckles and Mighty and asked. “So, who won the race entirely?”
“It’s a tie, Amy.” Knuckles said. “Mighty won the first half while I won the second half.”
“I see, but were you being a little reckless?” Amy asked again.
“No, I wasn’t.” Knuckles declined.
Amy turned to Mighty, but he put his hand and added. “He wasn’t. However, his traps did slow me down in the race. Especially in the second half.”
Amy sighed and looked back at Knuckles. “Okay. Just don’t be too reckless.”
“*Sigh* I won’t. *Looking back at Mighty* Still, since we have a tie, there’s only one way to break it.” Knuckles said.
Mighty nodded in agreement and replied. “We agreed to have a duel after the race. So. *Looking into his fighting stance* Time to settle the score.”
“Got it. *looking at Amy and Ray* Amy, Ray, enjoy the show.” Knuckles said, going to his fighting stance.
“We will.” Ray said.
“Remember not to go too reckless.” Amy reminded him.
“Trust me, Amy. I won’t.” Knuckles assured her.
“Okay. Good luck you two.” Amy said before she and Ray went back to the Shrine to protect the Master Emerald.
“Alright, Knux. Time to dance!” Mighty said, ready to fight.
“With pleasure.” Knuckles responded, preparing himself to brawl.
The two charged each other and their duel has begun. Knuckles started by delivering a punch, but Mighty evaded by leaping to left. Mighty followed up by throwing a powerful punch at Knuckles. Knuckles quickly defended himself, but the attack went through as the impact pushed him 5 feet away. Despite the attack, Knuckles was still standing. Mighty continued by charging up his spin dash and unleashed it at Knuckles. Knuckles dodged the attack by digging through the ground.
Before Mighty could react, Knuckles burst out of the ground and landed an uppercut at Mighty. Mighty got knocked down to the ground, but he wasn’t done yet. He picked himself up and went back to his fighting stance. Knuckles later charged at Mighty and launched multiple punches at Mighty. Mighty guarded himself to block each hit from Knuckles. As Knuckles launched his next attack, which a stronger punch than before, Mighty blocked it with his left hand. Mighty followed up by grabbing Knuckles’ hand with his right hand and throwing him in the air. Before Knuckles could have time to glide, Mighty jumped up and performed his spin jump at Knuckles, knocking him hard to the ground.
As Knuckles later recovered himself from the ground, Mighty looked at him and spoke. “Are you okay, Knux?”
“I’m fine, Mighty. But you should be worried about yourself than me.” Knuckles responded.
“I know. Still, I’m making sure not to hit you too rough.” Mighty said, a little concerned. “You know I didn’t appreciate Violence.”
“*Sigh* I’m well aware of that.” Knuckles assured him. “You might hit hard, but I fought stronger opponents while helping Sonic save the world. So, I’m not worried if you hit me too hard.”
“Okay, Knux.” Mighty said before taking a serious deep breath. “Even though Ray and I weren’t there to help Sonic to save the world on most occasions, we still helped those who need when the world was in danger. We both face many challenges while adventuring around the world. We didn’t give up no matter what we faced and got stronger. Therefore, Knuckles, I can assure you that I won’t stop that easily. We might not have been there to help you guys, but we didn’t stop helping those who needed it.”
Seeing the determination in Mighty’s eyes, Knuckles smiled and responded confidently. “That’s what I like to hear, Mighty. It just proves you two didn’t sit around while the world is in chaos. I’m glad that you guys focused on saving people while we did most of the work. *Going back in his fighting stance and preparing himself* Now, show me what you got.”
Mighty went back to his fighting stance and readied himself. “I will, Knuckles.” He said, ready to go all-out.
Soon, the two red fighters charged at each other and continued their duel.
Back with Amy and Ray,
The two watched both their friends faring against each other while guarding the Master Emerald. They hoped that their friends wouldn’t hurt each other too hard. Amy personally hoped that Knuckles was being too reckless.
As they kept watching the duel, Amy looked at Ray and asked. “Is what Mighty said true?”
Ray nodded his hand and responded. “Like Mighty said, we continued to help people while Sonic was saving the world. It’s our way to help others out than sitting through the sidelines.”
“I see.” Amy said before putting her finger on her chin. “I’m still curious on what kind of adventures you and Mighty had lately.”
“We’ve been through a lot, Amy. Especially with and without world-ending disasters.” Ray replied. “How about we tell you after you show us around Restoration?”
“Sure.” Amy said kindly. “My friends at Restoration and I look forward to hearing all about it. For now, Let’s hope both Knuckles and Mighty are doing alright in their bawl.”
“Me too.” Ray added before taking a deep breath. “I don’t like to choose sides since they’re friends. But I’m betting that Mighty will win.”
“*Sigh* We shall see, Ray. (Although, I’m expecting Knuckles to win. No offense. I just hope the fight doesn’t end so recklessly.)” Amy thought to herself as she and Ray continued to watch their friends.
After 15 minutes had passed,
Mighty and Knuckles continued to go all-out in their duel. The two were exchanging blows and each demonstrated their skills and abilities at one another. Mighty relied on his strength and agility to fare precisely against Knuckles in close combat. For Knuckles, he used both strength and combat skills to land powerful attack at Mighty. He launched powerful attacks, such as megaton hook and deep impact, at Might, which successfully hit him hard. However, despite how powerful those attacks were, Mighty managed to tank them and kept on fighting.
As the battle continued, both became exhausted and tired from their fighting. Knuckles and Might glared at each other for one moment. The two nodded in agreement that it was time to finish the fight.
They charged each other, preparing to deliver the final blow at each other. When the two were getting closer, Knuckles quickly dug into the ground and proceeded to land a surprise uppercut at Mighty. As Knuckles emerged out from the ground to strike, Mighty swiftly dodged it since he wasn’t going to fall for the same trick again. Before Knuckles could react, Mighty unleashed his spin dash at Knuckles, which knocked him into the air. He followed up by jumping up and performing a spin jump at Knuckles, knocking him to the ground hard.
Knuckles, despite how much damage he took, wasn’t done yet as he slowly got up from the ground. However, before he had time to react, Mighty unleashed the finishing blow by unleashing his move, drop hammer. He dove straight down at Knuckles and landed a massive hit at him, which left medium-sized hole in the ground.
Mighty stepped away and looked back at Knuckles, who was laying on the ground in defeat. There was no point in continuing the fight because it was already over. Mighty was the winner of their friendly match, even though it got a bit hectic at the end.
Mighty then went up to Knuckles and reached out his hand. “Are you alright, Knux?”
“I’m fine, Mighty *Grabbing Mighty’s hand and picked me up from the ground* *Sigh* Even though I lost, I’m glad it was a good match.” Knuckles assured mighty, despite feeling heavily hurt from his finishing attack.
“I just hope that I didn’t hurt you too bad.” Mighty said, concerned about Knuckles.
“I’m still okay, regardless how hard you hit me. It was a great duel and I’m glad that I enjoyed it, completely.” Knuckles replied.
“Great to hear, Knuckles.” Mighty said, glad that Knuckles is happy that he had a good time with him.
“(However, there are still people I rather not lose at all. Sonic, Shadow, Eggman. And especially Rough of all people!)” Knuckles thought to himself, a little frustrated. “(But I’m proud that I lost to someone, like Mighty, since I trust him that he looks out for himself and for his friends no matter what.) *Looking back at Mighty* Ha, I look forward the next time I beat you, Mighty.”
“We’ll see about that.” Mighty responded. “Right now, let’s back to Amy and Ray. We’re not going to let them get worried.”
Knuckles nodded in agreement and spoke. “Got it.”
The two later got out of the medium-sized hole. They headed back to the Master Emerald shrine, where Amy and Ray were waiting. As they got closer, Knuckles and Mighty saw their friends coming towards them. Amy went up to Knuckles, while Ray went to Mighty.
“Knuckles, are you okay?” Amy said, worried.
“Heh, I’ll still good, Amy. Nothing to worry about.” Knuckles replied, brushing off Amy’s concern.
“How was the fight, Mighty?” Ray asked.
“We had a great time, Ray. Knuckles and I gave it our all. Right, Knux?” Mighty responded.
“Yeah.” Knuckles nodded in agreement. “Even though the duel ended in a bit chaotic and caused a big hole on my island, we had a blast.”
“We sure did.” Mighty added.
“That’s nice to hear. I’m happy that you both have fun.” Ray said.
“Me too.” Amy said, before changing her expression from being happy to being serious. “However, I’m annoyed that you got a bit reckless at the end, Knuckles. *Turning her attention to Mighty and pointing her finger at him* The same goes for you, Mighty.”
Mighty sighed for a moment and admitted. “I know. I did go a bit too hard on Knux when dealing the finishing blow. So, I’m sorry if I went too far in the duel.”
“It’s fine. Just next time, be careful with your own strength.” Amy replied.
“That’s precisely what I try to do, Amy.” Mighty said, reminding himself not to use strength too hard at anyone, especially to his friends.
Amy then turned to Knuckles and spoke. “As for you, make sure to not go a bit reckless when fighting your friends, Knuckles.”
“*Sigh* I’ll keep that in mind, Amy.” Knuckles said.
“Good, but overall, I’m glad you two had a fun time. Just don’t go too hard at each other the next time you two battle each other.” Amy said.
“That depends, Amy.” Knuckles said.
“But we’ll try our best.” Mighty added.
“So, what’s next, guys?” Ray wondered.
“Now that we had our duel, I think it’s time we get going.” Mighty said.
“Indeed. I need to get back to my duties as guardian.” Knuckles agreed. “I’ll do so after I take a rest up from the duel.”
“What about that hole there?” Ray asked, pointing to the hole that happened during the fight.
“I’ll fix it when I get done with duties for today.” Knuckles said.
“You could always ask Restoration for its help.” Amy assured Knuckles.
“Thanks for the offer, but I’ll decline. After all, it’s my responsibility as guardian of Angel Island to handle things on my own.” Knuckles replied.
“Okay. *Sigh* But feel free to change your mind when you think otherwise.” Amy said.
Knuckles took a deep breath and responded. “I’ll give it some thought.”
“Before we leave, remember to help us when we need you.” Ray said.
“I will, Ray. Just be sure it’s only when something too serious is happening in the world.” Knuckles said.
“We’ll let you know ahead, Knux. Until then, I look forward to our next duel.” Mighty said, placing his fist up.
“Same here, Mighty. *Giving a fist pump to Mighty* Alright then, I’ll see you all next time.” Knuckles said.
“Bye Knuckles.” Ray waved his hand.
“See you around.” Mighty said, giving thumb up to Knuckles.
“Remember to come by Restoration.” Amy said.
“I’ll think about it, Amy. Now, get off my island.” Knuckles said.
Soon, Amy, Mighty, and Ray left Knuckles at his shrine and headed back to Amy’s car. They went into it and took off from Angel Island. The three proceeded to go to Restoration for Amy to give Mighty and Ray a tour around the place.
When Amy and the others left, Knuckles went back to his shrine and began to rest up while guarding the Master Emerald. He then looked up at the sky with one thing in his mind.
“Sonic, Tails. Wherever you guys are, please come home safely. And don’t bring trouble back. Especially on my island.”
