Chapter Text
It was a day too early for him and Kacchan to get groceries but the dorms are almost already out of food! Theres also this recipe he wants to make for him.
“Izuku. You’re mumbling.” Katsuki groans and pulls Izuku’s hoodie over him.
“Oh! Sorry Kacchan!” Izuku smiles before bending down to put on his shoes. “You have the list right?”
“Of course I have the damn list nerd. Who do you think I am?” He grumbles. “Hurry up, we’re already risking it. It’s almost curfew.”
“Okay!” Izuku tries to catch up with Katsuki while hurriedly tying his shoelaces.
“Hey Kacchan?”
Katsuki hums letting Izuku know that he heard him. “Do you think... Do you ever think about soulmates? Like if it’s real?” Izuku looks down to his shoes.
“Hah? What kind of question-”
“I just wanna know!” Izuku flails as he feels his face quickly flushing. He takes a few breaths and looks back down at his shoes and kicks a few rocks. “I dunno, just watched a show earlier about it. I guess i was just thinking about the couples in our class.” Kacchan tilts his head to the side and raises his eyebrow. “Why are you worrying about them?”
“Uh- I just- I don’t know! I was just thinking! You know, like friend soulmates.. uh romantic soulmates.. found family-”
“Tch. I get it nerd.” Katsuki rubs the back of his neck. “Not really. Never thought about that kind of thing.”
“Well I think its nice to think about.” Izuku looks up, Huh. “The moon’s beautiful.”
“What a subject change.” Katsuki huffs. “I guess it is.” Izuku turns to look at him but Katsuki quickly looks away. Izuku tilts his head in confusion. “Pass me my bag.”
Izuku reaches into the bag and passes both of their id cards for the U.A gates to open. “I said my- whatever.” Izuku smiles at him.
“I’m just saying Izuku. You’re a hoarder. Pick up your messes.” Izuku scoffs. “Like you’re any better? You still own things from years ago.”
Katsuki raises an eyebrow in challenge. “Atleast I know how to storage properly and what things to let go. I only keep what’s important.”
“You still have those all might cards we have.” Katsuki stills, not that Izuku notices. “Whatever Mr. I only keep what’s important.”
He rolls his eyes and grabs a shopping cart. “Not that this isn’t fun and all, but we have to get the shopping done. I really wanted to try that recipe i’ve had my eyes on for a while ya know?”
“Not like I can forget it with that mumbling of yours.” Izuku slaps the back of his head. “Get the damn vegetables Kacchan.”
Katsuki walks over to the vegetable aisle and grabs some of the ingredients that Izuku had been bothering him about.
God, that recipe better be the best thing he ever tasted. He doesn’t even know what Izuku could be making since Izuku keeps on telling him that, ‘no kacchan it’s a surprise’ like it's some top secret food. It’s just a food why can’t he just tell him so grabbing the ingredients could be easier?
Katsuki knows a lot of food recipes, so he could probably help out. “Kacchan! The chilli powder not the garlic! We already have garlic!” Izuku shouts from the other side of the aisle. “You don't even like chilli powder.” Katsuki retorts.
“Well.. Yeah but it requires it!!”
“Whatever Izuku. This ‘recipe’ of yours-” putting bunny ears around the word recipe, “-better be the best damn thing i’ve ever tasted. At least give me a hint!”
“Fine! It’s a soup!” Katsuki makes a face similar to somebody biting a lemon. “Are you serious? All this fuss over a soup?”
Izuku rolled his eyes and started walking to get some more seasonings or some shit. Katsuki scoffed for what had to be the 10th time today. Seriously he just wants to go to bed, he didn’t even want to go grocery shopping but no, they just had to have run out of snacks for shitty hair. He wouldn’t stop bothering him about it.
Speaking of Kirishima’s snacks.. “Izuku! Get the-” Katsuki stops right before Izuku could notice him. Izuku is talking to some extra and laughing? The fuck? Katsukis steps closer to hear their conversation.
“Midoriya Izuku? That’s a pretty name. Would you wanna maybe go out-” Okay. Katsuki’s heard enough.
“Izuku.” Izuku quickly turns to Katuski and brightens. “Oh Kacchan! I just met them. Kacchan meet Kurihara, Kurihara meet Kacch- or uh Bakugo.” Kurihara extends his hand to Katsuki. “Hi, nice to meet you.” Katsuki just stares at his hand. “Likewise.”
Izuku side eyes Katsuki. “Kacchan. Shake his hand.” He mutters to Katsuki under his breath. Who does he think he is?
“Tch.” He shakes Kurihara’s hand but not because Izuku told him to. He shakes his hand because it’s the polite thing to do. “Well! So about that date?”
“Wh- What? Date? What?” Izuku flails. Katsuki’s over this conversation. Suddenly a jolt of pain explodes in Katsuki’s head. He needs to go to bed, this is why he doesn’t leave the dorms after 5pm.
“Izuku.” Izuku can read Katsuki well, he’ll realize that he wants out of this conversation now. They make eye contact and just like Katsuki thought, Izuku quickly turns to Kurihara. “Well! It was really nice to meet you um, Kurihara but we really have to get going. Good luck on that curry you’re making!”
Before Kurihara could even get a word out, Izuku and Katsuki were out the door with the groceries. Kurihara couldn’t help but smile. Uraraka would make sure to tell him what happens.
“Kacchan? What’s wrong?” Izuku asks while checking him over for any visible injuries. “Nothing, just a sharp pain in the head. This is why I don’t leave the dorms after 5pm.” Izuku rolls his eyes. “Okay grandpa, let’s get you to bed shall we?”
Katsuki takes offense to this. “Grandpa? Thats rich coming from you. You’re like a little ball of energy staying up till 3am.” Izuku laughs at that. “Well come on, my head is starting to hurt a bit too.”
“Now who’s the grandpa?” Izuku glares at Katsuki. “Whatever.”
They silently walk for a bit, it’s not uncomfortable, it’s never uncomfortable for them. They can just enjoy each other’s presence and don’t feel the need to talk. Katsuki’s mind drifts to the conversation from earlier.
Truth is, he has thought about soulmates. He wouldn’t really say he believed in soulmates. Or more like, that he doesn’t want to believe in them. He doesn’t like the fact that some deity could’ve chosen his person for him. He wants to choose that for himself.
“I don’t like to believe in soulmates.” Katsuki found himself saying out loud. Izuku looks up to him confused before realizing what he's referring to and smiles. It wasn't a regular sunshiney smile like he usually does but in a way like Izuku knew he was gonna say that, but that’s weird because how would he know?
“Why?” Izuku asks. “I don’t want some deity or anybody else telling me who I should be with and who I shouldn't be with.” Katsuki looks up to the moon. “I want to choose for myself.”
Izuku bursts out laughing. “Of course. I don't know why i excepted any other answer from you.” Katsuki suddenly feels himself growing defensive. Who the hell is he to laugh at him? “What’s that supposed to mean?”
“Nothing! Just that I knew you’d say that.” Izuku smiles micheviously before continuing. “Before you ask ‘oh how would you know?’ I know you! Only you would answer like that!”
Katsuki doesn’t know how to reply to that so he doesn’t. They both fall into that comfortable silence again. He guess it makes sense how confident Izuku is that he knows him, Katsuki knows Izuku like the back of his hand. It’s strange, he wouldn’t normally be this calm about Izuku’s answer but maybe those therapy sessions are finally working.
“Hey guys you’re finally back! Did you bring my snacks?” Kirishima exclaims way too loud for Izuku’s liking. “Ye-”
Izuku stops dead in his tracks. They forgot Kirishima’s snacks. Damn it. Why couldn’t he just remember to get a single snack? It’s literally not that hard, and he forgot it! The fuck is wrong with him today?
“No. We forgot it.” Katsuki answers easily while setting the groceries down.
“Whaatt??” Kirishima whines. “I’ve been craving them all day man!”
“Im so sorry Kirishima, genuinely. I didn’t mean to forget them! I got sidetracked because this person started talking to me, their name was Kurihara and it just spiraled from there!”
Ochaco was at the corner of the kitchen who looked like she was trying to decide between two different teas before her eyes lit up with recognition. “Kurihara? You met Kurihara?”
“Uh yes..?”
Ochaco quickly runs up to the both of them and grabs both of their hands, inspecting them as if she was looking for something. “Uh.. Ochaco?” Izuku asks hesitantly. “What are you doing?”
Katsuki snatched both of their hands back. “I don’t have the energy to deal with you right now pink cheeks.”
“Oh whatever.” She didn’t seem upset that Kacchan had gotten both of their hands back. Like she found what she was looking for. Izuku started to inspect his own hand. He doesn’t think there’s anything different about.. There’s a red dot on his pointer finger. A red dot that wasn’t there before. He tries to rub it off but Ochaco quickly grabbed his hand again. “No.”
“What?”
Her eyes widen and she quickly recovers. “Uh nothing! Bakugo! Did you get kiri’s snacks?” Izuku is left confused and left to stare at the red dot. Should he rub it off? Can he even rub it off?
“No we didn’t. We just said that. Izuku got distracted by that extra so we forgot. Kiri pass me the advil wherever it is, I have a migraine and my arms hurt like a bitch.” Izuku raises his brow at that. “I thought it was just your head? What happened?”
“Started hurting like halfway through our walk on our way here. It’s fine.” Kacchan waves him off. “Kirishima. The advil?”
“Oh right!” Kirishima hestiates before dropping the bottle in his hand. “I shouldn’t give it to you, you forgot my snacks!”
Kacchan rolls his eyes and downs two pills. “Im off to bed.” All three of them give eachother questioning looks but only Ochaco speaks up after Kacchan leaves. “He never lets us know he’s going to bed.”
He stares at where Kacchan used to be before turning to look at Ochaco who looks like she just realized something. “What is it?” He asks.
“Oh! Uhh.. Nothing. You didn’t get kiri’s snacks so ill uhh.. be going now. Goodnight guys!”
Izuku and Kirishima are both left confused now. “Well um.. Wanna help me with my soup Kiri?” Kirishima brightens significantly. “Of course man!”
