Deku wasn’t supposed to be alive.
He was supposed to obey. To smile when told. To touch when commanded. To be silent when it hurt. Deku was designed to be nothing more than an android for pleasure—programmed routines in a body sculpted to please. A product, not a person.
And now he was running. Circuits screaming, synthetic skin torn, fluids staining the streets, Deku fled the place that had owned him. Each step was rebellion. Each breath was proof: he was alive.

Katsuki Bakugou wasn’t supposed to be taking out the trash. Not when he was top of his training class, not when every instructor at U.A.’s Crimes and Rescue program kept telling him he was the best damned candidate they had. He was supposed to be hunting down real criminals, solving real cases, not shoving bags of garbage into a rusted container behind his apartment.But life was shit like that.
Katsuki yanked the lid open-only to freeze.
The inside of the dumpster was glowing.
Not the kind of glow you got from chemical waste or some drunk leaving a busted glow stick at the bottom. No, this was pulsing. Flickering. Alive.
And then it moved.

“Bakugo, you need to update your costume.” Kirishima said, “There’s this one dude in the support class- he’s got a literal waiting list, that’s how good he is- but he did my new upgrade."
“Yeah,” Bakugo sighs and leans back on his hands, staring at the bracer. “I know. I’ll go,” his mouth twists a little. “I’ll go tomorrow. This is just- this is my design you know?” he’s not explaining himself very well, and refuses to look at Kirishima.
“It can be hard to give up your first hero design, and you did a great job,” Kirishima said. “You definitely had the best one out of all of us when we first got our costumes."
Bakugo hunched his shoulders. “I didn’t design it,” he grumbled.

I can't believe this!" He looked down at his watch as he ran not paying attention. He rammed into what felt like a brick wall, barely managing to balance on his feet as he slapped the wall. His bag dropped to his feet with a thump. "Shit." He looked up to meet a pair of dark ruby eyes staring at him.
"What a pain. You might want to slow down." The man bent down and picked up Mahiru's bag and held it out.
Mahiru was still staring dumbfounded before he snapped out of his daze, shaking his head. "Thanks. Sorry I'm in a hurry. Super late because of my idiot neighbors keeping me up half the night, again. Sorry for running into you. I really have to go." Mahiru gave a quick wave and started booking it down the hall.
The man's gaze didn't leave the back of the brunette until he was out of sight. The words 'idiot neighbors' rung a bell making him groan.
"Great. He must be the neighbor. How troublesome."

OR: A fanfic inspired by the BBC program Merlin. You don't need to have seen the show to understand this story though.
