Summary
Rebels have been secretly planning the downfall of the Capitol for years, constantly sparking once-extinguished hopes. Unknown to the residents of District 12, the family of the Mayor are part of that web. Madge Undersee, armed with a pin her Tribute aunt once wore, is destined for the Arena, to send a message - but Katniss Everdeen volunteers before she can. Now, in the wake of Katniss’s act of bravery, Madge must find her own way to keep the rebellion alive. But what is one Merchant-class girl from District 12 capable of against the behemoth of the Capitol?
Told from the perspective of Madge Undersee, the Mayor's daughter, we watch the events of Katniss's Games - and, later, the Quarter Quell - unfold from District Twelve.
Mostly canon-compliant, but uses a crack theory I've been mulling over for years: what if the Mayor and his family were part of the rebellion from the start? (Mostly spoiler-free for Sunrise on the Reaping, but may use bits and pieces of canon established there.) Slowburn Gale/Madge will likely come into play in one way or another.
