He was so close.So.Close.
Coiny was just a few feet away from victory.
Fries had met the merciless end of Needle’s shovel, and Needle herself had fallen down the hill after tripping on a stray stone.Victory was finally going to be his.
That is, until he heard the familiar click of a laser gun.
He immediately turned around and saw none other than Pin, laser gun attached to her battery pack. The battery pack that HE had given her, he remarked in his mind bitterly.
But, no time for thinking about that, he needed to RUN.NOW.
He desperately sprinted up the dirt path, just barely dodging a few of her shots as he moved to her left.
He felt himself running out of breath.No.
He felt his feet suddenly slip up.No.
He felt his knees fall to the ground. Please no.He couldn’t let her win again. Not again. He’d already sacrificed so much for her.
The sound of the laser gun charging up echoed in his ears. This was it.This was the end.
…
Wait a minute, did he just hear a slicing sound? And why hasn’t he been despawned yet?
Coiny looked up, and saw Pin’s remains, her body having been cleanly sliced through the centre.What.
And standing next to her was…Book?
She wielded a large sword, perfectly pristine, in her grasp.Must’ve been from Fries’ shop.
“Need some help with that rope?”
“…Why?”She had already gotten immunity into the final four from the prize wheel. And helping him wasn’t going to give her any kind of benefit. So why did she do it?
“Because that’s what friends are for.I already had immunity, so I figured it wouldn’t hurt to help you, just this once!”she winked at him cheekily, and started unravelling the rope in front of him.He couldn’t help but smile.
She wasn’t doing this out of any kind of gain. She just wanted to help a friend. That was the kind of person Coiny needed right now.Someone who truly cared.
He carefully dusted himself off and unravelled the rope alongside her.The hot air balloon slowly but surely floated up until the rope was released, and soared into the sky.He had won.All thanks to his new friend.
He admired the stars in the sky with Book as the hot air balloon started to drift out of sight.Maybe this season wasn’t all bad.
