Chapter 3: Creepy Songs
Ai Jia made a quiet wounded sound, and pushed himself forward. He closed the door as quietly as he could and practically pushed the others back down the stairs.
His face was pale, his eyes wide, his hands shaking slightly. “Whatever you do,” his voice was serious, dripping in fear. “Do. Not. Wake. Her. When Yao is sleeping, you let her sleep as long as possible. Trust me! A sleep deprived Yao is not a good thing.”
The team exchanged a look.
“Does she start singing really creepy songs about nightshade plants and skulls?” Pang asked.
“And talking about counting ravens?” Mao added.
Ai Jia, somehow, went paler, and he swayed. “Who?” The whispered word was saturated in terror. “Who was she singing about?”
The team once more exchanged looks.
“Jian Yang.” K informed him briskly.
“Ok. Ok.” Ai Jia said more to himself than the others. “She completely annihilated him in the game. We should be ok. As long as she gets enough sleep now it should be alright.”
“But,” Pang broke in and Ai Jia’s eyes snapped to his. “How long can a woman on her cycle sleep for?”
Ai Jia actually whimpered. “Her cycle? Are you sure?”
“Yes,” Mang said the word slowly. “She told us so.”
“You know what?” Ai Jia dropped the bag he was still holding and begin to back away from the door. “I’ll come back in three, no five, days.” Then with pity in his eyes he whispered, “Good luck,” then bolted for the door. Which, even in his haste, he closed, very gently.
