“Look at me.”
Crocodile looked up at him and flashed his gorgeous, charming smile. And Doflamingo just thought he was the sexiest man alive. He couldn’t say “no” to him.
“No, really look at me. Take these off.”
Sensei reached up and started to take his glasses off. Doflamingo’s cheeks flushed a beautiful rosy tint, and as much as he wanted to grab Crocodile’s wrist and stop him, he didn’t move a muscle.
Sensing his uneasiness, the older man softened his expression.
“Who says I can’t be romantic? I want to look into your eyes.”
He was not trembling, thank you very much.
“Don’t be disappointed…” He spoke without his usual level of snarkiness.
Crocodile slowly tugged his glasses and removed them. Doflamingo instinctively shut his eyes. Still trembling, he felt his lover’s hand gently caress his face.
“Please, let me see?”
He was finally going to do it. Nobody other than family had ever seen his real eyes.
Sensei looked into his eyes, first the blue one, then the red one.
Here it comes. The judgment, the ignorance, the mocking. What’ll it be this time?
“They’re —“
”Weird? Ugly?” he interrupted.
“Idiot. They’re gorgeous.”
“You mean… you don’t think they’re strange? That I’m a freak?”
Crocodile chuckled. “Are you kidding? I knew that from the day I met you — Ouch!”
Doffy punched the older man in the arm and cut him off, but he seemed to appreciate the joke. Crocodile continued.
“Now, as I was trying to be romantic earlier…”
Sensei looked him in the eyes, took his hand, and kissed it, never breaking his gaze, and said, “Nothing could change how I feel about the man I love.”
His heart skipped a beat. “…What?”
Crocodile kneeled down on one knee, still holding his hand, and took off one of his own rings.
“This was my mother’s. I want you to have it,” he blushed.
“Wha- what are you saying?”
“I love you, Doflamingo. Will you… be mine?”
“You bastard.” He couldn’t hide the smile that crept onto his face. “I thought you’d never ask.” Of course, he couldn’t say “no.”
