Work Text:
Glass, itself, is sharp, but it becomes a weapon when shattered. Putting shards of glass back together becomes dangerous because you never know what it’ll look like with all the cracks and flaws. At least, that’s what Mafuyu has always told herself. Her hands had become dry with blood as she slowly put her heart back together. Slowly but surely, an image is formed again, but will it be the same? Reflecting her true desires inside out like beams of light redirecting colours, all sorts of secrets leak whispers from what once had been her heart. Mafuyu had given up on the pieces, her emotions were a puzzle she couldn’t solve. She had fumbled with the pieces and jammed them into the incorrect spaces and the image formed was in shambles. Her hands were sliced through and through until a girl came along. Despite being against it, the girl was her saviour, her ray of light in an empty and dark void. The girl’s hands were soft but the spikes in Mafuyu’s heart relentlessly ripped them open. She wasn’t cruel, no not at all. Her words had filled Mafuyu’s mind with softness as if she was basking in the warmth of sunshine. She couldn’t fix Mafuyu’s heart completely, but she gave Mafuyu the courage she never once had. The girl’s hands were bleeding and roughened, like Mafuyu’s but she never let that slow her down or stop her from trying. Over and over, she carefully found pieces that fit and snapped into place. She would never truly be done, but Mafuyu knew that was impossible. After all, broken pieces of glass could never be completely fixed.
