Work Text:

Tonya looked at her drink swirling around in her cup; the group was attempting to throw a party for New Year's, but only two of them knew anything about the holiday. She got a drink made from Dean “the right way.” It was just a cup of whiskey with nothing else. She sighs and sips the drink, fighting to keep it down.

“God, that's awful.” She sets it down, shuddering. No more hard whiskey. Renata walks up holding a soda; no brand drops here; I ain't getting paid for this.

“Need to clear the taste from your mouth?” She reaches the soda towards Tonya, who takes it and chugs it. Renata chuckles a bit, taking the soda back and setting it down. “I’ll take that as a yes.”

“I don’t understand how they can handle this.” She wipes her mouth. “It’s terrible, bloody fucking hell.”

Renata sits down next to Tonya. “Yeah… I don’t get it either, but what can you do?”

Tonya lays her head on Renata’s shoulder, watching the others act like idiots across the room. Renata pats her back and rubs it a bit. “Happy New Year, hon.”

Finn runs over and climbs onto the new couch, reaching his arms around his mother. “Mom! Can I have a drink?”

Renata looks down at Finn, smiling a bit. “I’m sorry, honey, that one isn’t for kids.” It was plain soda before Tonya put her TAINTED lips on it. Finn groans and slides off the couch, going back to the others to tug on someone's shirt and get a soda from them. Renata shook her head and shouted out to him. “Finn, it's too late for a soda; get a juice box!”

Tonya chuckled a bit, pushing her bangs back. Sam slithered from the group and plopped down next to the two. “Hey ladies, how are we doing tonight?”

Tonya ignored him and stayed on Renata. “Renata, there's a MAN with us.”

Renata snorts a bit. “I see that, dear. How dare he?” She taps Tonya, indicating for her to get up; Tonya chuckles and follows through, sitting up.

“Enjoying the party?” Sam takes a swig from his red Solo cup.

“If that's what you can call it.” The girls giggle amongst each other; Sam raises an eyebrow, finishing his sip.

“Trying our best here.” He rebuts with a smirk. Renata shakes her head at him slightly.

“Sure, sure.”

Finn runs back over to Renata, taking her hand. “Mom, the ball is going to drop soon!”

Renata stands up, holding Finn's hand in hers as he whisks her away towards the crowd. Dean calls Sam over with a hand motion to the group surrounding the small television.

Castiel was standing straight in front of the TV, Dean moving him to the side. Fallon sat on the edge of the couch with Jaiden next to him, telling him stories he was nowhere near interested in. Brookes was blackout, Lake drawing lewd images on his face. Finn leads Renata to a clear spot on the couch, sitting next to her and Dean. Roman wasn't there yet.

Tonya looks into the crowd and frowns slightly, leaning back. Sam tapped her shoulder, catching her attention.

“Why so gloomy? We were just having fun.”

“I am—I'm just waiting for Roman.” She puts her head on her palm.

“What for?” Sam scooches over, filling the spot Renata left. “Doesn't seem like he likes stuff like this.”

“He literally has a nightclub.” Tonya looks over at Sam. “Besides, he told me he would be here, just late.”

“Still not used to the holidays here or something?”

“We've been in America for a couple of years; we aren't just some dumb British folk.”

“No, no, of course not—” He stammers on his words a bit. “Sorry.”

“It's fine.” She runs her hands through her hair, pushing her bangs back.

“Are you going to join the others soon?” He finishes off his drink.

“Probably, I just needed a second away from them.”

“Except Renata.” He smirks again; she rolls her eyes.

“Nobody can resist her charm; I've actually grown quite fond of her.”

“I'm glad; it's nice to see you settle down.” She raises an eyebrow after he says that. “You and Roman always felt so secluded when you first got here, but now you guys hang out; you talk to us. It's nice.”

She twirls a strand of hair around, listening. “Yeah… you're kind of right.”

“So what do you know about New Year’s?”

“You stay up until midnight, get drunk, and act like a fool.” She points at the others, Dean spouting about something while they watch the TV, knocking over a pudding cup in the process. Jaiden, attempting to be funny, starts scooping the pudding into his mouth, but Renata shoos him away.

Sam laughs a bit, rubbing the bridge of his nose. “Yeah, but we have a couple of other traditions, like watching the ball drop… making snacks… and midnight kisses.”

“I never understood any of those.”

“Well, have you ever tried them?”

“...No, I never saw the point. I was always busy helping Roman.”

“Duh, that's why you aren't interested; you've never experienced it!” He turns towards her.

“No, I suppose not.” She shrugs a bit, leaning back.

“Try to be more open, maybe, loosen up a bit.”

A booming shout from Dean is heard across the room; the countdown is about to start.

“Easier said than done.” She hides her smirk behind her dyed hair as she rests her hand on her chin.

“Live a little, girl!” He tucks her hair behind her ear. She pushes his hand away, but not aggressively this time. Playfully. As if she's used to it.

“Fine, fine, fucking weirdo.” As the two continue, the group starts chanting the countdown.

FIVE

“May I?” He takes her hand in his.

FOUR

“I suppose.” She turns towards him. “Just for the holiday.”

THREE

Tonya closes her eyes slowly.

TWO

Sam leans forward, hand on her chin.

ONE!!!

Lips connect for a few seconds for a short, passionate kiss. Tonya is the first to back off, leaning back and opening her eyes; Sam blinks a bit before returning her gaze.

“Huh.” She says after seconds of silence. “That was… something.”

The two finally separate fully, Dean slithering over to scold Sam for missing the ball drop. Tonya slips away while the Winchesters bicker; as she makes her way to Renata, she finds her way blocked.

“Oh, hello, Roman. Nice of you to join us.” She smiles at him.

“Was I interrupting something?” He looks back at Dean and Sam.

“Oh no, I was just learning about New Year's.”

“Hmm.” He shrugs a bit, the two walking towards the television with Renata and the others. Tonya plants herself down and watches the others talk; sitting there, she finally feels… included. She smiles. A genuine smile, for the first time in a while.
