It is a normal morning like any normal mornings in Easton Academy.
In the room 301, Dot wakes up after the first ring of his clock, without any complain noises. He turns it off, delicately, and sits on his bed while stretching himself. He doesn’t know why but he is feeling good like he has never felt before for waking up on a school day. This makes him think that today will be a good day.
Before completely getting out of his bed, he turns his head to the bed opposite to his and realizes that his roommate, Lance, didn’t wake up yet. This surprises Dot a lot, because he has never ever woken up earlier than his roommate before. This morning is a special one! He checks the hour and sees that they have just enough time to prepare themselves before school starts, but, he decided to only take care of himself and let his roommate gets extra sleep. Finally this pretty boy will embarrass himself in front of everyone when he will be late at class, he thought with a smirk.
He gets out of his bed and goes to his closet to take some clothes before leaving for the bathroom. When he comes back, dressed with his school uniform and his hair done, he notices that Lance still didn’t wake up, but, he doesn’t care as he immediately goes in front of the big mirror he has in his side of the room. He takes a moment to look at himself through it and truly has the feeling that he looks better than usual, despite not having done anything out of the ordinary. He tries to make cool expressions and poses while complimenting himself. He does that for a moment before checking the hour again and seeing that class is about to start. He turns his head back to his roommate, who is still asleep, and decides to wake him up.
He approaches the bed and begins to call for him rather loudly which wakes him up. Then, he informs him, with a mockery tone, that he is going to be late, and oh how much it was satisfying for him to see Lance almost panicking when he saw the hour and realized that Dot was not lying. Dot watches him quickly get out of his bed, while laughing, before leaving the room, with his school materials, and teasingly warning his roommate about the punishment of those that are late.
He starts to walk in the direction of his class with a proud pace and a satisfied smile. On the way, he notices that people are curiously looking at him; the girls are murmuring to themselves while having blushing expressions, and the boys are having admiring ones. Dot doesn’t understand why they are acting that way but he truly feels like he is the center of the world which makes him feel even better than earlier. Maybe he is just hallucinating like he is used to, but, he doesn’t care about this thought, and just keeps walking with the good feeling of being viewed.
He gets called from behind and stops walking to turn himself to the voice. He sees Finn and Mash coming at him and waits for them. When they get close enough, Finn greets him with a happy face and makes him notice that he looks very good today, even Mash agrees with him. It takes Dot off guard because they never told him something this genuine before, and they don’t sound like they are messing with him. With this and the fact that everyone in the corridor is still looking at him with curious faces, Dot truly starts to think that something has changed in him, he doesn’t know what exactly, but he wishes that it will stay that way for the rest of his life because the feeling of being noticed was just so good.
He eventually enters the classroom with his friends while all the eyes are still on him. He tries to act as if he doesn’t care about them, but, inside, he is so happy that he is doing his best containing himself from smiling like a weirdo, instead, he tries to keep a cool smile.
He goes to sit in his usually place, while sorting his school materials, when a girl comes to him and asks him if the one that usually sits next to him, Lance, is going to come. Dot looks in her direction and almost gasps when he notices who she is; the most popular girl in the class as she is one of the richest and most beautiful. At first, Dot doesn’t know what to say and thinks that she only wants to talk to Lance since he is also very popular. But, he eventually responds that he doesn’t think that Lance will come any time soon since he overslept. Then, just after saying that, something completely unexpected happened.
She starts to sit next to him with a charming smile and exclaims that she is glad that Lance isn’t there because she actually wanted to sit next to Dot. Dot gives her a very surprised face but he doesn’t get the time to do anything before his whole body begins to be on alert as she keeps getting closer to him. The most popular girl in his class was noticing him! Him, the one that people mostly find cringe! Today was his lucky day!
He cannot stay in place so he tries to look around the class to see the others’ reactions to distract himself. It seems like no one was reacting negatively, they all seem to have acknowledged them being next to each other as if it is the most normal thing, except some girls that seem to be jealous somehow, maybe of Dot because he is close to the girl who is also popular among the girls, or maybe of the girl because she is close to Dot. Dot cannot believe the second possibility because he has never been popular among the girls, but, with everything that has happened this morning, it can actually be the case this time.
However, the good short moment he shared with the popular girl gets interrupted by none other than the girl who he is in love with; Lemon. She appears behind them and harshly tells to the other girl to get out from Lance’s place as it is his. The girl, feeling menaced, stands up with an unpleasant expression before going to her usual place, but then, she turns herself and signs a goodbye to Dot with her hand and blinks to him with the same smile as earlier.
Dot looks at her with a blushing expression and a bleeding nose, still not understanding what was happening. Shortly after, he gets slapped by Lemon who gives him a very angry expression. She rises his voice at him while asking him what was he doing with a girl like her, and, when she sees that he is not answering because he is still too touched by what just happened with the other girl and the fact that Lemon looks way too hot angry, she slaps him again before leaving to go to her own place with angry steps.
Dot is left completely stunned, but he didn’t have the time to process everything as the teacher enters the class and notifies the students that the lecture will begin soon.
Everyone takes their place as the teacher begins to take the roll. When he finishes it, Lance finally enters the class, out of breath, and not looking as perfect as he usually does. The whole class is looking at him and containing themselves from laughing, but Dot doesn’t contain anything and is rather loud. The teacher tells everyone to calm down as he reprimands Lance from being late. Lance never felt this humiliated before as he goes where his place is, defeated.
Dot looks at him sitting next to him with a triumph smile. From all the good things that happened to him today, that is definitely the most satisfying one.
The class goes on smoothly for Dot, and it happens that he is pretty confident in it; he understands everything that is being said and is able to answer every questions correctly. This surprises the teacher since it is not usual for Dot to be this invested in class. He complimented him and uses him as an example of a good student for the whole class. The others actually agree as some of them turn to Dot with amazed expressions. Dot is filling with happiness. He never felt this accepted in class before.
When it was lunch time, many students stand and go to Dot’s desk for asking him how he understood everything so perfectly. Because, if he has been able to understand while being an average student like them, he could be able to explain to them better than the teacher. Dot is touched by their assumption and modestly agrees to help them after school.
He ends up standing from his sit to go to the canteen and notices that the same group of students begin to follow him while talking about him positively. Dot catches that they have planned to eat with him, and, honestly, he doesn’t mind since he feels good with them. But, he is used to go eat with his friends only, and he doesn’t want to leave them behind. He goes to ask them if it will bother them to be joined by their other classmates, and, thankfully, it happens that they are fine with it. Dot is satisfied and they all go get some food.
In the canteen, everything goes well, the group is eating happily with various conversations that mostly turns around Dot, which almost embarrasses him. He looks around him and notices that everyone is having a joyful face except Lance, but Dot doesn’t care about him, and Lemon, who still looks as pissed as earlier. Unfortunately, he doesn’t have the time to ask her what is wrong because everyone keeps trying to get his attention.
When lunch time is over, and afternoon class is about to start, the group of students still stay glued to Dot until they arrive in the classroom. They all end up taking back their place and start to focus on the new class that goes on exactly like this morning; Dot is still able to understand everything and gets correct answers.
When all the classes finish, Dot is again surrounded by the same group of student that invite him to the library to see back the lecture they didn’t understand. But, someone interrupts them; Lemon. She pushes everyone around Dot to get in front of him and almost commands him to join her behind the building of the school, with the same angry face from this morning.
Dot looks at her, beginning to take her way out of the classroom, and feels his heart jumping in his chest as he still finds her so attractive. He looks around him and all the students tell him that they are fine with him following her and that they can study after it. Dot smiles at them as he was grateful for their comprehension. He watches Lemon crossing the door and stands up to precipitately join her.
They walk through the corridors in silence. Dot is behind her and is looking at her silhouette which makes him think about how much beautiful she is, even from behind. But, he is kind of apprehending what she will say to him, she sounded so seriously angry, maybe he did something he shouldn’t have? He will soon find out.
They finally arrive at their destination, and Lemon is still giving her back to Dot as she stops walking. He does the same, by leaving a little bit of distance between them, while still looking at her and waiting for her to speak.
“Aren’t you going to apologize from letting that rich girl get close to you?” She says in an accusing tone.
It takes a moment for Dot to understand what she is talking about but she doesn’t give him the time to process and immediately continues.
“That’s the kind of girl you are into?” Her voice was trembling a little. “A rich and perfect girl...”
Dot wants to tell her that it is not the case but he lets her finish.
“That’s her that you want, right?” She sounds more dramatic as she turns to him with a hurt face. “Answer me!”
Dot can just look at her and how pretty she is as he doesn’t know what to say but, again, Lemon doesn’t give him the time to say anything.
“I love you, Dot!” She expresses loudly, her voice full of emotions.
Dot’s eyes widens in shock as he feels his world stopping. He cannot believe what he has just heard. Lemon? The girl that is so obsessed with Mash just told him that she loves him? Him? And not Mash? He freezes as she begins to get closer to him and hug him.
“Dot, I love you!” She repeats as she tightens her hold on him.
Dot instinctively holds her back and tells her how much he loves her too, and how much he is happy that she feels the same way.
Today is definitely his day.
He is now thinking about all the good things that happened and that will happen now that he finally has a girlfriend, and not any girlfriend, the girl that he started to truly love, she is finally here, in his arms, loving him, and wanting him as much as he wants her.
He cannot be happier.
He feels like she is separating from the hug, while he doesn’t want to, by putting her hands on his shoulders. Then, he sees that she rose her head to look at him deep in the eyes, with a lovely stare. “Dot,” she said innocently which makes his heart beat like crazy. He decides to not move and let her do what she wants. Somehow, she starts to shake him lightly. “Dot,” she calls again, less innocently. But Dot doesn’t mind as he is enjoying being close to her, no matter what she does. “Dot,” She continues but the more she is pronouncing his name, the more her voice changes in a non-reassuring way. “You have to wake up.”
Dot doesn’t understand why she tells him that all of the sudden, and why he is getting shaken rather strongly now.
“Dot…” Her voice changes completely to become more deep. “Dot…!”
Dot starts to get a little bit worried and scared as she keeps calling him with an angry face while her voice starts to sound more like…
Lance’s...
“-DOT!”
Dot opens his eyes in a startle. The first thing he sees is his roommate’s angry face, the same that Lemon gave him, and he can feel his hands placed exactly like Lemon’s when she started to shake him.
“For Anna’s sake, I’ve been trying to wake you up for hours! You are going to be late for class!” Lance complains as he is taking his distance from his roommate’s bed.
Dot is too stunned to properly understand what just happened to him. His perfect day was just… a dream????!!!! He cannot believe it!!!!! But, when he sees the hour, his state, and the fact that Lemon is not there. He punches his bed with the sides of his fists and screams.
