Sen. Smith,
I have heard of your intent to hold an inquiry into the tragedy. I wholeheartedly support your efforts, as it is vital that we ensure this never happens again. However, if you are holding this inquiry on my land, I reserve the right to set conditions. It is, after all, my land. I want you to understand the kind of power I hold, so you know how necessarity it is for you to listen to me.
Do not start the inquiry before I arrive.

Mr. Neil Young,
If you are who you say you are, then feel free to come to the inquiry at your leisure. If you are not (as I suspect you are not), then know that it is cruel to play with the lives of the survivors. This inquiry is for academic purposes, and for the sake of future seamen. This is not a game, and everyone involved will do their best to be respectful of these men and women's time.
The inquiry has begun, and we will wait for no one.

Smith,
You're a coward and a dunce. If this inquiry is for academic and safety purposes, then why is it specifically staged to advance your political career? Don't think that you can control what the press says of you- the officers have made a fool of you, and you've made a villain of yourself. The only thing keeping these survivors from returning safe and sound to their homes is you.

New York,
I received an interesting letter from Senator William Alden Smith yesterday. May I remind you that this is an international issue, not an intrastate one? Your influence is only to be used in the most serious of your state's problems, and this is not one of them.
Do not give out your identity so freely, especially not if you intend to insult the person you are contacting. And do not go to the inquiry.
Gov

Gov, you foolish man,
My people were on that ship. My people died because of Britain's inadequate safety regulations. The ship was supposed to arrive safely in my port, and they did not. If this isn't my problem, whose is it?

Smith found British Board of Trade guilty. Sending crew back now. Shame- it's fun listening to the testimonies!
