He's been caring for the child as his own since then, sacrificing everything else for his well-being and protecting him from everything that may want to hurt him: monsters, unnatural storms, gods, his own comrades, and more recently the sick nymph that insist on calling herself his mother. He has began to doubt that his protection would ever be enough against her.
But now he's been given one last chance to get things right and keep his son safe safe by scaping the Island where they both had been traped for the last five years, surviving the trip across the sea and taking him to Ithaca. He knows it will be hard, but he can't afford to fail.
