"Junna-chan?"
Junna went still at the sudden voice. She tried to calm her pounding heart and kept her back to the door.
"Nana... um, do you need something?" Junna stammered out.
The door to the room closed. "I was coming to grab something. That's all. You okay?"
"I'm fine. You just startled me."
"Then why won't you turn around? We're both girls. I don't care if you're indecent."
"I... I'd rather not." Junna mumbled. "Please hurry and leave."
"Junna-chan?" Nana sounded concerned.
Junna tensed as a hand was placed on her shoulder. She tried to keep herself calm, but it was becoming harder and harder by the minute. Why couldn't Nana just drop it? Why was it such a problem that she didn't want to get changed on front of someone.
"What's wrong, Junna-chan?" Nana asked.
"Nothing is wrong." Junna shot back a little too quickly.
"You can tell me."
Junna sighed. Nana wasn't going to drop this. She knew she meant well, but this wasn't exactly something she had wanted to tell anyone yet.
"I just... don't like people seeing me like this." Junna mumbled. "My body is a little... different."
"What do you mean?"
"I... I'm trans. Okay? Please just... drop it."
There was silence from Nana. Junna was nervous. Was Nana mad at her? Should she have not said anything? Just kept pushing her away until she finally dropped it? Had she just ruined everything?
The longer the silence droned on, the worse Junna's thoughts kept becoming.
"I'm sorry, Junna-chan. I didn't mean to make you tell me. I was just worried. You looked so scared for such a silly thing. I'm sorry." Nana finally spoke.
Junna took in a deep breath. "You're okay with me?"
"Of course I am. This changes nothing, Junna-chan. I promise." Nana replied. "I'll leave you to change. Sorry for interrupting you."
Junna remained still as she heard Nana leave the room. She let out a sigh.
That had been an experience. At least it hadn't turned ugly. Nana had taken it better than her thoughts had been trying to let her believe was possible. But... this had just reinforced the fact that she was always just one accident away from someone else learning about this.
She hadn't wanted anyone to know about this. Had learned it was better to keep it to herself than open up and get hurt by the wrong person finding out. But, it was inevitable she was going to have this problem again. When you lived in a communal dorm like this, there was only so much privacy you could ask for most days.
Junna sighed again as she finished dressing. That was a problem for another day. She had places to be.
Maybe later she could talk more to Nana about all of this. If Nana supported her, then maybe the two of them could find a good way to drop the news to the rest of the group? Maybe it wouldn't end as badly if she had someone on her side to help her with all of this?
There would only be one way to find out.
