Notes:

Hello! This is my first time writing/posting anything, so I hope you enjoy this story with my OC's and their trauma!

Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

The battle waged on and on, the sounds of the dead and dying all around me. The wound in my abdomen throbs as it trickles blood. I can’t slow down yet: not until I’ve won.

I whirl around as I hear rapid footsteps approaching behind me, managing to bring up my sword in time to block the blow from the male soldier. With a grunt of pain, I manage to push the male, who I can now see is a fae.
“Traitor!”, the male roars at me as we exchange blows. The pain in my abdomen is becoming unbearable, but I won’t stop. I can’t stop.
Blood splatters across my face, which is already covered with the blood of others and the dirt of the battlefield. I’ve managed to push my sword through the male's chest. Just another body to add to the countless others I’ve killed. I watch as the male's body slides off my sword onto the muddy ground of the battlefield. Crouching down, I wipe my blade on his shirt. I wince as the action causes the skin around the wound in my abdomen to pull and stretch, more blood dripping down into my pant leg.

The world has gone silent around me, and with a jolt, I realize the battle is over. The only noise to be heard around is the wind in the air and the footsteps of the soldiers who were on the same side as me. With that, I stand up and look around, my golden eyes taking in the scene around me. Bodys of the fae, humans, half-breeds, harpies, and countless other species litter the ground, staining the grass red. I don’t look too hard, scared I might find his body, scared that I would break down if I found his body.

No, I tell myself, shaking my head. He died for a reason.

I sigh and run my hand through my white hair, now stained red and brown from blood and dirt. I begin to make my way towards my camp. There was bound to be a celebration later. But a celebration of what? The fact that hundreds of people were murdered in this pointless battle? No, they fought against the cause, they deserved death…

I don’t sheath my sword as I walk across the field, because you never know when a soldier could be pretending to be dead. I scowl down at the bodies as I walk past. These people, the ones that grew to know me, the ones that I convinced that I fought alongside them. I was so deep in thought that I didn’t notice that someone was behind me until I felt a hand on my shoulder. I whirl around, raising my sword to attack until I saw the familiar vampiric male.
“Good to see you too.” the male chuckled, his hand coming up to brush some of my hair out of my face.

I scowl at him slightly and his lavender eyes flash with a hint of amusement.

“You caused all of this.” I wave my arms around, my sword still clutched in my right hand. “I didn’t sign up to be killing hundreds of civilians dragged into this mess!”

“And yet, here you are.”, He smiles, his fangs glistening in the evening sun. “I didn’t realize that all it took to persuade the little half-breed to kill his lover and friends was the hope that he would gain some power,” he shook his head and sighed “, It seems that his hopes made him get ahead of himself.”

I pale. “What do you mean by that…?” it can’t be, there's no way he would lie to me.

The vampiric male closes the distance between us and pushes a long lock of snow white hair behind my ear. “Your father really was right about you. Desperate to prove yourself, to gain any sort of affection or power, even if it meant losing everything.”, he said, his lips brushing my cheek.

I flinch back, reality hitting me in the face. “You lied to me!”, I yelled, taking a step back.

The man laughed, yet again showcasing his sharp fangs. “I didn’t lie, child.”, he said mockingly. “I just used your feelings against you.”

I feel my sword fall from my right hand. I had been manipulated. I’ve lost everything. My friends, my family, and HIM. I faintly recall falling to my knees and letting out a strangled sob before charging at the vampire who had caused all this, but he saw it coming. I lost fairly quickly, my attacks sloppy and inaccurate because of my emotions. The last thing I remember was a group of other vampires restraining me, then the grin on his face before I felt a stabbing pain in my neck, then I was out like a candle.
